i dont get shooter fans anymore. for the last 8 years, every new BF/COD gave their best to become worse than the last released one, with only 2-3 good exceptions sprinkled in, and yet people are SURPRISED? "battlefront" 1+2 were both utter garbage on release, battlefield... was it 1 or 5? was also complete shite, the other one was mediocre, and people actually expected 2042 to suddenly become a great game? while a famous shooter villain told them the exact definition of insanity only some years ago?
When Far Cry 6 basically wins triple A GOTY by default because it was the only game that came out from a big studio that was playable on release, you know we've got issues.
@John Brown Resident Evil 8, Deltarune Chapter 2, Shin Megami Tensei 5, Deathloop, Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, etc. Those all came out this year and all of them were better than Far Cry 6.
The only far cry I couldn’t stomach enough to play through. The cringe was just so real and I can stomach a bit of cringe but they dumped it on you over and over and over again. Every line of dialogue made me throw up in my mouth a bit. Such a disappointment.

The issue with 2042 isn’t just the regular Battlefield scuffed launch. Lack of guns. Lack of game modes Lack of maps Missing regular features every game should have Overall downgrade to battlefield Specialists make no sense Battlefield becoming a hero shooter is a loss of identity.
@@mizu_shujinsatticclutter536 at least in warzone operators are just skins but that's about it; yeah there are skins that allows you to kinda have a tiny advantage when playing the game but those usually came in the battle pass (i think for the roze skin technically even if you played the game for free you can still get it, since each season gives you 300 free cod points, and roze was introduced in season 3) and it will get fixed/reworked by the devs sooner or later. but operators that you HAVE to use in order to do shit effectively? that's some cringe valorant shit right there. can't believe we're living in a world where BF is trying to copy CoD.
Honorable mentions: Call of Duty Vanguard, by Sledgehammer Games. The campaign is extremely lacking historical accuracy to WW2. You have Japanese weapons in Germany and German guns in Japan. Most of the in the features in the multiplayer was just copied and pasted from World At War and COD WW2 such as the animations, score-streaks, weapons, weapon attachments, and maps from the previous WW2 games. There is also nothing different with WW2 shipment and Vanguard shipment. Lastly the zombies mode is SOO bad that a COD zombies ripoff in Roblox can do better than Vanguard Zombies. There’s no paka punch camo, no round based map and the ONLY map in zombies is a copied map from the multiplayer. I can’t even explain to you how little effort was put into making this game.
Vanguard was totally ass. I tried to like zombies but I just couldn't give a shit about it haha Obviously I'm a Fan of cod zombies (peek my pfp) and I even gave ww2 zombies a chance and actually liked it, but vanguard was just straight horse shite. Glad I pirated the game instead, so there was no loss when I got rid of it lmao
I honestly feel the same way about battlefield, literally had so much for the 100 hours I put in but boy once I unlocked everything my interest plummeted bc it was just missing so much .
Something has to be done about the number of broken/unfinished games that drop, especially because it's happening so often now. You shouldn't have to wonder if the game you just blew 60 bucks on isn't going to function, leaving you with a complete financial loss Edit: I'm also shocked at the number of AAA companies willing to release games that they know aren't fully functional. Rockstar, CD Projekt Red, and EA are only a few examples. I almost quit gaming a few months ago because most newer games come out of production in unacceptable quality and it's shocking, almost hilarious
That’s because these assholes know their audiences are still going to spend their money on unfinished products, as long as marketing team does a great job at hyping people up. Stop preordering, stop buying at Day-1 launch, and stop buying unnecessary DLCs that add nothing but beautiful colors to the game.
they won't be able to do that anymore if we mostly all just agree to wait until after launch for reviewers. Quit giving them record breaking launch sale and preorder numbers and they'll notice the money drying up. Don't financially support AAA companies unless they're making a good product.
Imagine pre ordering an EA game expecting it to actually be finished. I’m always shocked that people buy an EA game when it first comes out and then are surprised that it’s in a horrible state like that’s literally been every EA release for years now how do you not expect it at this point?
And the sad thing is, EA has put out astoundingly amazing games before but always disregard or abandon them, for the longest time I always saw the games EA published being bad or money grabby which led me to steer away from EA titles completely, the day I discovered Titanfall 2 absolutely turned me back Into wanting to find good EA games again, titanfall 2 was easily the best fps shooter I've ever played and yet its pretty much on the verge of death.
@@TC7-Thecomplex7 but people always forget that titanfall 2 wasn't in a great state when it was released. There were only 6 maps, and all of the game's best maps hadn't been added yet. The balance was pretty bad, both for weapons and for titans. Also, frontier defense wasn't added until nearly a year after release. Granted, nowadays it is an amazing package (DDOSing aside), but when people ask, "how did an amazing game like titanfall 2 flop so hard on release?" it seems they often overlook this aspect.
The theory behind Balan Wonderworld is that is was originally intended to be a basic mobile game and then they decided to port it to consoles. The way that everything is controlled using a single button, the roundness of the icons, the simple mechanics, the linearity of the level design, and whatnot all point to a game that was designed to be played on a phone. Truly a huge disappointment. I had high hopes for the game given Yuji Naka's track-record with original titles, but he blew it big time.
I really enjoy the way you talk about things and how you frame your opinion. What would be a nice improvement are timestamps and putting up stuff on the screen. Like the logos of the games or a few clips about what you are talking about.
You also have to love how the "Definitive Edition" is lacking music that was in the originals because they were too apathetic to pay for the rights to the music lmao
Eh, copyright is a bit more complicated than that. Some songs' rights get lost between labels merging and other times people get older and don't want their songs in a violent game like GTA.
Fun fact about Balan: The team was behind on schedule that they originally was going to pull some costumes from the game in order to meet the deadline. Guess what they focused on That's right, fucking costumes. They went and put all of them in anyway. That shows their priority for this game. The biggest sin of Balan Wonderworld is that Balan's character design is wasted on this dog pile shit of a game and will probably be never used again.
The battlefield one was definitely the saddest one. All the trailers and such made it look good, like they were listening to the fans. Then more info dropped and then the beta dropped which personally killed the excitement for me.
I don t get how this many people bought the game when the beta had shown that it was absolute dogshit. I played the beta for an hour and it was just horrible in every possible aspect : horrendous map design, terrible performance (everything on low i couldn t even use a scope without the game running at 5 fps, while battlefield 1 looks substantially better and runs perfectly on my subpar hardware), terrible gunplay both in sound design and feeling , bugs everywhere and no atmosphere whatsoever
@@Total2Gamerz legit I don't understand it either. The beta ran horribly. Certain guns didn't even save your attachments after respawning, numerous bugs etc and people still bought it. Like I would have gotten it if it actually played good and nice but the beta straight up killed all the hype I had for it I'm definitely grateful that there was an open beta to test it. And legit idc if the beta was an older build. Like why even give me an older build to play, if you want good first impressions I don't think an older broken test build is the best way of showing off the game to potentially buyers. I wouldn't be surprised if this old build was just a lie to excuse the horrendous beta. And also this live service model, I hate it tbh. It's like an excuse to give the consumers half a game and promising more stuff will come in time like they did with BFV. Just sad man

Like, most of the design/UI design choices in 2042 are so ass backwards, and take so many regressive steps in the known and established battlefield formula. I genuinely to this day ask, just HOW so many base features present since 1942 did not show up in this game.

Balan Wonderworld is like the Corey Feldman music albums, where someone who once was great puts out an absolute piece of shit and has zero self awareness of how awful their creation is. I can't even imagine the development process of the Sonic/Square/Enix team making Balan Wonderworld. There was literally not a single person on the team who had any power to stand up to Yuji Naka, to tell him "THIS GAME DOES NOT WORK". Nothing in the game makes sense. The backstories for every character is in a separate novel instead of being on the game. It plays terribly and looks over a decade older than it is. Just a masterpiece of awful and Naka should never be allowed near a video game development team again.
Yuji Naka was definitely self aware about how bad the game is, if you watch any interviews with him it's like he forgot he was trying to sell the thing
As someone who was actually excited for 2042 before it came out, I gotta say, saying that EA fucked it up hard is a severe understatement. They didn't fuck it up, they beat it to a bloody pulp. The Battlefield franchise depended on 2042 to survive, and now, it's dead, defiled by its own creator.

I sure as hell won't support Activision-Blizzard after what they've done, and I didn't have an Xbox, so it was a choice between 2042 or Halo. Then I sold my PC, and it was all downhill from there. I bought 2042 at launch. I returned it the very next day. That's how hard it sucked. I have basically since decided that FPS games have no use anymore when it comes to originality or innovation

My experience with Biomutant was playing for a few hours, getting softlocked somehow and losing about an hour and a half of progress because I hadn't saved in a while, and then stopping because I didn't want to replay that section of the game.
Late answer. But that is straight up impossible. The game autosaves like every 10 seconds. Its insane. But yeah, i kinda like and dislike the game. Its not bad but i also have no desire to play it again.

I find it funny because I'm guessing that Charlie's #1 spot for the best games is ALSO a 3D platformer (either Psychonauts 2 or It Takes Two), or it's at least in the top 3. In that sense it really gives you a good comparison between what two opposite sides of the same spectrum (genre-wise) are like.

Nier and Pokemon were remasters and don't count for a list for 2021; most of those other games range from "meh" to "pretty decent but not amazing". Metroid Dread is the only real standout there
I think what sucks about GTA Trilogy: Definitive Edition. is that we were just coming off the heels of Mass Effect: Legendary Edition and how amazingly BioWare remastered the three Mass Effect games, So there was hope that Rockstar would put in the same amount of effort and they didn't.
Mark my words, Rockstar is not too far away from a fall from grace, we've seen these signs with too many companies by now. Just working on the GTA V money train for too long, not a chance in hell of sequels to beloved games like Bully, The Warriors, L.A. Noire, Midnight Club or Max Payne even though they'd make a lot of money it's not enough for the powers that be, working on the same shit all the time drains passion and from what I've heard their culture isn't so squeaky clean in the first place.

Nah the reason why they release unfinished games is because people will still buy them. We need to teach them a lesson by not buying their unfinished games, unfortunately this may be impossible because not everyone is gonna stop giving their money to these AAA gaming companies. They should give their money to *FINISHED* indie games instead.
Most here don’t know about it but Nascar ignition 21 takes the cake no matter what. Nascar obviously isn’t the most popular sport/thing but there is definitely a solid fan base and expectations that theyll releases a game every year like Madden or 2K. They got a new developer this year and the game was BROKEN on release. Like you couldn’t play it, it would just crash on console, and nearly every aspect of the game had some major game breaking glitch.
Watching Jimmy Broadbent play it had me in tears. From skipping the Chicanes at Daytona road to go from the mid pack to podium to having to copy config files from RF2 for the wheel to (sort of) work

Biomutant was a game that I was so excited for man. Pre-ordered (thankfully less than 2 weeks before release), I was all about it before it came out. I thought the mutation aspect was so cool and the fighting seemed so unique and special. Not to even say the game was terrible but god damn it was so overrated and every cool aspect that was shown was very small in the actual game, the fighting was so lackluster, and like charlie said, the narrator was so annoying and honestly ruined the game for me. The fact that the narrator was the only thing that spoke english while every other character spoke in gibberish really ruined the immersion and feel for me. Not to mention while the fighting was good, it lacked the "umf" in most looter hack-n-slash games like biomutant and I really wanted it to be good and I was so so so so so hyped for it and it turned out to be a complete disaster.
I wouldn’t say it was a disaster, it was just very….”meh”. I had fun with it but I have absolutely no incentive to finish it and that was back in June. Also, $60 was way too much
If you're willing to give it another shot, they patched in options to completely silence the narrator while keeping subtitles, along with lowering the "speech" audio option to 0. Without the Narrator it becomes a much more enjoyable experience, however the cutscenes will drag on in silence because they expect the narrator to keep talking. But if you're already done with the game I'm not sure if it's worth coming back. Got the game for 30$ over christmas from steam sales and it's the perfect price for what you get.

I really can’t understand how bf2042 was ever released. It takes like 10x50.cal rounds from a tank machine gun to kill somebody. It takes three rockets from a helicopter fired within a foot of where someone is to kill them. If you hit a leg shot with the main cannon on either of the tanks it doesn’t kill them. The Bolte has glass that you can shoot straight through and it doesn’t even shatter. There’s only 9 maps, every character in online looks the same, there’s no single player mode and the graphics on ps5 look the same as on old gen. Absolute travesty of a game and charging 60 bucks for it is nothing short of daylight robbery
Been playing biomutant for a week now and I have to say I had a lot of fun at first. My character was really weak so I had to focus and stay alive and I was still learning the game. My character is level 25 and is completely unbeatable. The enemy level scaling is useless because they’re always scaling to your character so it’s like you’re not getting stronger, you’re just gaining new weapons and abilities. I never even used the super wung fu because I could beat any enemy without getting hit by levitating and shooting my rifle that could kill 4 enemies before having to be reloaded. I haven’t even beat any of the story yet, I’ve been grinding side quests. I probably won’t finish the game either. Gets boring but looks cool.
The developers must be devastated seeing their game in this tier list

Call of Duty Vanguard, by Sledgehammer Games.
The campaign is extremely lacking historical accuracy to WW2. You have Japanese weapons in Germany and German guns in Japan.
Most of the in the features in the multiplayer was just copied and pasted from World At War and COD WW2 such as the animations, score-streaks, weapons, weapon attachments, and maps from the previous WW2 games. There is also nothing different with WW2 shipment and Vanguard shipment.
Lastly the zombies mode is SOO bad that a COD zombies ripoff in Roblox can do better than Vanguard Zombies. There’s no paka punch camo, no round based map and the ONLY map in zombies is a copied map from the multiplayer. I can’t even explain to you how little effort was put into making this game.
Vanguard was totally ass. I tried to like zombies but I just couldn't give a shit about it haha

Imagine pre ordering an EA game expecting it to actually be finished. I’m always shocked that people buy an EA game when it first comes out and then are surprised that it’s in a horrible state like that’s literally been every EA release for years now how do you not expect it at this point?

As someone who pre-ordered Star Wars Battlefront 2, I can certainly say I will never make that mistake again.
And the sad thing is, EA has put out astoundingly amazing games before but always disregard or abandon them, for the longest time I always saw the games EA published being bad or money grabby which led me to steer away from EA titles completely, the day I discovered Titanfall 2 absolutely turned me back Into wanting to find good EA games again, titanfall 2 was easily the best fps shooter I've ever played and yet its pretty much on the verge of death.

@@TC7-Thecomplex7 but people always forget that titanfall 2 wasn't in a great state when it was released. There were only 6 maps, and all of the game's best maps hadn't been added yet. The balance was pretty bad, both for weapons and for titans. Also, frontier defense wasn't added until nearly a year after release. Granted, nowadays it is an amazing package (DDOSing aside), but when people ask, "how did an amazing game like titanfall 2 flop so hard on release?" it seems they often overlook this aspect.

The theory behind Balan Wonderworld is that is was originally intended to be a basic mobile game and then they decided to port it to consoles. The way that everything is controlled using a single button, the roundness of the icons, the simple mechanics, the linearity of the level design, and whatnot all point to a game that was designed to be played on a phone. Truly a huge disappointment. I had high hopes for the game given Yuji Naka's track-record with original titles, but he blew it big time.

The battlefield one was definitely the saddest one. All the trailers and such made it look good, like they were listening to the fans. Then more info dropped and then the beta dropped which personally killed the excitement for me.
I don t get how this many people bought the game when the beta had shown that it was absolute dogshit. I played the beta for an hour and it was just horrible in every possible aspect : horrendous map design, terrible performance (everything on low i couldn t even use a scope without the game running at 5 fps, while battlefield 1 looks substantially better and runs perfectly on my subpar hardware), terrible gunplay both in sound design and feeling , bugs everywhere and no atmosphere whatsoever

Like why even give me an older build to play, if you want good first impressions I don't think an older broken test build is the best way of showing off the game to potentially buyers. Like, most of the design/UI design choices in 2042 are so ass backwards, and take so many regressive steps in the known and established battlefield formula. I genuinely to this day ask, just HOW so many base features present since 1942 did not show up in this game.
I even think even with no tech issues the game has issues. a lot of fundamental designs just dont make it fun

Balan Wonderworld is like the Corey Feldman music albums, where someone who once was great puts out an absolute piece of shit and has zero self awareness of how awful their creation is. I can't even imagine the development process of the Sonic/Square/Enix team making Balan Wonderworld. There was literally not a single person on the team who had any power to stand up to Yuji Naka, to tell him "THIS GAME DOES NOT WORK". Nothing in the game makes sense. The backstories for every character is in a separate novel instead of being on the game. It plays terribly and looks over a decade older than it is. Just a masterpiece of awful and Naka should never be allowed near a video game development team again.

I sure as hell won't support Activision-Blizzard after what they've done, and I didn't have an Xbox, so it was a choice between 2042 or Halo. Then I sold my PC, and it was all downhill from there. I bought 2042 at launch. I returned it the very next day. That's how hard it sucked. I have basically since decided that FPS games have no use anymore when it comes to originality or innovation

My experience with Biomutant was playing for a few hours, getting softlocked somehow and losing about an hour and a half of progress because I hadn't saved in a while, and then stopping because I didn't want to replay that section of the game.
Late answer. But that is straight up impossible. The game autosaves like every 10 seconds. Its insane. But yeah, i kinda like and dislike the game. Its not bad but i also have no desire to play it again.

I find it funny because I'm guessing that Charlie's #1 spot for the best games is ALSO a 3D platformer (either Psychonauts 2 or It Takes Two), or it's at least in the top 3. In that sense it really gives you a good comparison between what two opposite sides of the same spectrum (genre-wise) are like.

I think what sucks about GTA Trilogy: Definitive Edition. is that we were just coming off the heels of Mass Effect: Legendary Edition and how amazingly BioWare remastered the three Mass Effect games, So there was hope that Rockstar would put in the same amount of effort and they didn't.

Nascar obviously isn’t the most popular sport/thing but there is definitely a solid fan base and expectations that theyll releases a game every year like Madden or 2K. They got a new developer this year and the game was BROKEN on release. Like you couldn’t play it, it would just crash on console, and nearly every aspect of the game had some major game breaking glitch.
Watching Jimmy Broadbent play it had me in tears. From skipping the Chicanes at Daytona road to go from the mid pack to podium to having to copy config files from RF2 for the wheel to (sort of) work

I saw Jimmy Broadbent play it and laughed my ass off. I'm more of a fan of F1 and games like Gran Turismo and not much for oval racing but I feel fucking bad for genuine NASCAR fans who got absolutely shafted.

I was completely shocked when I saw that the trilogy edition had 2 years of development. I was more expecting like 6 months at most.

Biomutant was a game that I was so excited for man. Pre-ordered (thankfully less than 2 weeks before release), I was all about it before it came out. I thought the mutation aspect was so cool and the fighting seemed so unique and special. Not to even say the game was terrible but god damn it was so overrated and every cool aspect that was shown was very small in the actual game, the fighting was so lackluster, and like charlie said, the narrator was so annoying and honestly ruined the game for me. The fact that the narrator was the only thing that spoke english while every other character spoke in gibberish really ruined the immersion and feel for me.
Not to mention while the fighting was good, it lacked the "umf" in most looter hack-n-slash games like biomutant and I really wanted it to be good and I was so so so so so hyped for it and it turned out to be a complete disaster.
I wouldn’t say it was a disaster, it was just very….”meh”. I had fun with it but I have absolutely no incentive to finish it and that was back in June. Also, $60 was way too much
If you're willing to give it another shot, they patched in options to completely silence the narrator while keeping subtitles, along with lowering the "speech" audio option to 0. Without the Narrator it becomes a much more enjoyable experience, however the cutscenes will drag on in silence because they expect the narrator to keep talking. But if you're already done with the game I'm not sure if it's worth coming back. Got the game for 30$ over christmas from steam sales and it's the perfect price for what you get.
I bought the game for Christmas and honestly I’ve had a lot of fun so far . Think the main issue is that it’s not worth full price . But given that I bought it half off , I think it was worth my money

I really can’t understand how bf2042 was ever released. It takes like 10x50.cal rounds from a tank machine gun to kill somebody. It takes three rockets from a helicopter fired within a foot of where someone is to kill them. If you hit a leg shot with the main cannon on either of the tanks it doesn’t kill them. The Bolte has glass that you can shoot straight through and it doesn’t even shatter. There’s only 9 maps, every character in online looks the same, there’s no single player mode and the graphics on ps5 look the same as on old gen. Absolute travesty of a game and charging 60 bucks for it is nothing short of daylight robbery

Been playing biomutant for a week now and I have to say I had a lot of fun at first. My character was really weak so I had to focus and stay alive and I was still learning the game. My character is level 25 and is completely unbeatable. The enemy level scaling is useless because they’re always scaling to your character so it’s like you’re not getting stronger, you’re just gaining new weapons and abilities. I never even used the super wung fu because I could beat any enemy without getting hit by levitating and shooting my rifle that could kill 4 enemies before having to be reloaded. I haven’t even beat any of the story yet, I’ve been grinding side quests. I probably won’t finish the game either. Gets boring but looks cool.
GTA definitive edition just shows how lazy/complacent rockstar have gotten
