Absolutely. It’s sad because they deserve better. When I did a summer job at a retirement home, I made sure to put in some effort to entertain the residents and they loved it. It made me fulfilled as well. It’s unfortunate that these content creators on FB don’t have the same feeling

I'm genuinely curious as to what Zuckerberg counts as a "view" on one of those videos. I'm very sceptical that 100s of millions of people watched through 16 minutes of nothing. Jibrizzy is one of the most disappointing content creators I've ever seen. He actually won on Penn & Teller. There was a point where he made actual good content. But now he just abuses it. It's not really his fault per-se since the FB algorithm is so insanely exploitable. But the content he pumps out is strictly for monetization (usually via Facebook and shared on other platforms) and it just kinda sucks to see what was once a genuine content creator become a cringe scripted monetization machine.

My mother sat there watching a video of a military guy rubbing his wife’s pregnant stomach hidden in a box, “pretending” to not know what it is. I was absolutely baffled at how she knew it was padding for time, she knew they were doing it on purpose, and yet still decided to waste her precious time and watch the whole. Damn. Video until I didn’t walk up and scroll all the way to the end for her. I thought the guy was just mentally challenged, but it looks like that wasn’t the only video that did something like that. Facebook truly is a cesspool of click-hungry people who want to either feel needed or get revenue from views and likes. But I guess all of social media is like that.

I fell victim to one of these recently, but they were actually doing things the whole video technically. It took an incredibly incompetent team of three HALF AN HOUR to break open an ATM that they "bought", only to find no money in it at all. The reason why Jibrizy stopped doing magic on youtube is because he got exposed for having hired actors to react to his tricks. He was never considered to be good by any magician because it was very obvious that he was hiring actors to get great reactions if you knew how most of the tricks were done, so it's actually not surprising he has stooped this low to get a few views.
I think his popularity on Facebook is the greatest magic trick he has performed. Or then he has just hired millions of actors to view this amazing content.
I legit remember having to watch that performance of John Cage in a music appreciation class and had to write a critique of it. Forgot what I said but I think I remember reading that it was actually meant to be something about allowing people to enjoy the "natural" sounds of their environment instead of composed music. So I guess the occasional sound of a dude clearing his throat and John opening and closing the fallboard on the piano a few times was suppose to be the performance. It was definitely one of those things where they try to make the viewer "think" about what art is, but in reality it is literally nothing and just dumb especially when you can just listen to silence for free.
There are reputable musicians who find 4'33" an interesting insight into art. You're not supposed to listen to that in a concert performance, obviously, and the sounds there aren't interesting for most people, but the idea is the product of it's time, there weren't that many ways of sharing music at that time. John Cage is an incredible composer if you want to look at his more "normal" pieces. The idea is pretty simple, sometimes you like listening to leaves rustle on trees when you're walking home and not turn headphones on. If you look into visual art, nature can often provide much more admirable vista than a human can ever make
You're not really supposed to listen to that piece, at least certainly not more than once. It was just an interesting way to express that idea, at that period of time. You can look at that as a clickbait of some sort, you either tell the idea of the nature's beauty on a lecture, or make it appear on a concert and give it a name and divide it in three parts to make it cooler of sorts. It's obvious which one of these two approaches would gather more attention

I think TH-cam’s new minimum for monetization/paid ads is 8 minutes but they can put ads on any video anyway so it’s kinda confusing I guess. I don’t think he actually profits off TH-cam because before the new ad system where any video can get an ad I don’t remember him enabling ads, but who knows how it is now.

The only reason I'm on facebook is because that's where the entire Roman and Medieval reenactment community is. It used to be a phenomenal platform for communicating, buying and selling replicas, and sharing research for what we do, but now it's gotten progressively worse over the past 5 years with the changes to their algorithm and the banning of anything that has the word "sword" or whatever in it. If it weren't for the fact I need to be on there, I'd bail on Facebook in a heartbeat.

The John Cage piece (called 4:33) the piece itself is to highlight that when someone is performing a piece of music it's not just the music that is playing thatr i part of the performance, the audience itself makes up a part of the experience of listening to the music. News flash: its always been this way its just more obvious now. Most humans for most of history have been dirt poor nomads or farmers struggling to live just above subsistence. Not exactly a whole lot of stimulating complex activity there just bare survival. Even in the last 200 years 99% of people who lived and died had little to no education and never had a chance to expand their minds. Its always been this way. We live in the only time you can rose above that.

Knowing that most of the active users on FB are likely internet-illiterate old people, I'd wager 20% of the people who watched the firefighter video thought it was legitimate. The videos you shared are far more egregious than the ones I've usually seen where someone is making a cake and have a tube on top that they're filling with sprinkles. Every 20 seconds they very slowly add a few more sprinkles to the tube and then describe what will happen when they lift the tube. They repeat that process like 30 times (or I assume so, I've learned to just skip over them).

Jibrizzy is one of the most disappointing content creators I've ever seen. He actually won on Penn & Teller. There was a point where he made actual good content. But now he just abuses it. It's not really his fault per-se since the FB algorithm is so insanely exploitable. But the content he pumps out is strictly for monetization (usually via Facebook and shared on other platforms) and it just kinda sucks to see what was once a genuine content creator become a cringe scripted monetization machine.

My mother sat there watching a video of a military guy rubbing his wife’s pregnant stomach hidden in a box, “pretending” to not know what it is. I was absolutely baffled at how she knew it was padding for time, she knew they were doing it on purpose, and yet still decided to waste her precious time and watch the whole. Damn. Video until I didn’t walk up and scroll all the way to the end for her. I thought the guy was just mentally challenged, but it looks like that wasn’t the only video that did something like that. I fell victim to one of these recently, but they were actually doing things the whole video technically. It took an incredibly incompetent team of three HALF AN HOUR to break open an ATM that they "bought", only to find no money in it at all. Which I figured, but there was always that "you never know" factor. I just wish I had read the comments or skipped ahead, which I normally do, instead of wasting my time.

The reason why Jibrizy stopped doing magic on youtube is because he got exposed for having hired actors to react to his tricks. He was never considered to be good by any magician because it was very obvious that he was hiring actors to get great reactions if you knew how most of the tricks were done, so it's actually not surprising he has stooped this low to get a few views.
I think his popularity on Facebook is the greatest magic trick he has performed.
Or then he has just hired millions of actors to view this amazing content.
I legit remember having to watch that performance of John Cage in a music appreciation class and had to write a critique of it. Forgot what I said but I think I remember reading that it was actually meant to be something about allowing people to enjoy the "natural" sounds of their environment instead of composed music. So I guess the occasional sound of a dude clearing his throat and John opening and closing the fallboard on the piano a few times was suppose to be the performance. It was definitely one of those things where they try to make the viewer "think" about what art is, but in reality it is literally nothing and just dumb especially when you can just listen to silence for free.

There are reputable musicians who find 4'33" an interesting insight into art. You're not supposed to listen to that in a concert performance, obviously, and the sounds there aren't interesting for most people, but the idea is the product of it's time, there weren't that many ways of sharing music at that time. John Cage is an incredible composer if you want to look at his more "normal" pieces. The idea is pretty simple, sometimes you like listening to leaves rustle on trees when you're walking home and not turn headphones on. If you look into visual art, nature can often provide much more admirable vista than a human can ever make
You're not really supposed to listen to that piece, at least certainly not more than once. It was just an interesting way to express that idea, at that period of time. You can look at that as a clickbait of some sort, you either tell the idea of the nature's beauty on a lecture, or make it appear on a concert and give it a name and divide it in three parts to make it cooler of sorts. It's obvious which one of these two approaches would gather more attention

The only reason I'm on facebook is because that's where the entire Roman and Medieval reenactment community is. It used to be a phenomenal platform for communicating, buying and selling replicas, and sharing research for what we do, but now it's gotten progressively worse over the past 5 years with the changes to their algorithm and the banning of anything that has the word "sword" or whatever in it.

News flash: its always been this way its just more obvious now. Most humans for most of history have been dirt poor nomads or farmers struggling to live just above subsistence. Not exactly a whole lot of stimulating complex activity there just bare survival. Even in the last 200 years 99% of people who lived and died had little to no education and never had a chance to expand their minds. Its always been this way. We live in the only time you can rose above that.

Knowing that most of the active users on FB are likely internet-illiterate old people, I'd wager 20% of the people who watched the firefighter video thought it was legitimate.
The videos you shared are far more egregious than the ones I've usually seen where someone is making a cake and have a tube on top that they're filling with sprinkles. Every 20 seconds they very slowly add a few more sprinkles to the tube and then describe what will happen when they lift the tube. They repeat that process like 30 times (or I assume so, I've learned to just skip over them).
