  • In this video, we will show you a tutorial on how to use the DJI Mavic Air 2 hyperlapse mode which includes free, circle, course lock, and waypoints.
With Hyperlapse Free mode, the Mavic Air 2 will take a picture at specific intervals while you fly the drone.
With Hyperlapse Circle mode, the aircraft will fly in a circle while taking timelapse pictures. You can also fly the drone manually during this mode.
With Hyperlapse Course Lock, the Mavic Air 2 flies in a specific direction while you can control the camera and the yawing motion.
With Hyperlapse Waypoint, you can record waypoints with different altitude and camera angle and play it back to record your footage.

Watching your tutorial that shows the various selections in a calm and patient voice was very helpful. There are many youtube videos where there is a lot of useless commentary. Your video stands out in its direct approach. Thanks for the effort. Patrick

Thank you Patrick, we pride ourselves on being to the point and not droning on and on for hours just to make videos unnecessarily long.

You should be able to click on the maps where you want to put your waypoints like you can with the Mavic 2 Pro/Zoom

    You are fantastic.
It took me over 6 videos to hear this. I should have just come to you first.

It would have been helpful to discuss “interval” a bit more and show examples what it looks like with different intervals

    Hello there,
How are you getting to those options? I am hoping all of these options become available upon inserting an SD Card. Am I right? I do not see how you are getting to these options. Thank you so much for getting back to me.

If you tap the icon (it's usually a photo or video one) above the red record button you will see what is shown at 0:35 . MicroSD card is not required since the MA2 has 8 GB of onboard storage.

Seems to work fine as long as you are going in one direction with minor (very minor) course corrections. But I tried this with 45-90 degree direction changes and the camera will not allow it, always says camera angle too great and I can't set points for the flight direction change............if I do set an allowed camera angle, then the camera points away from the direction of flight, it crabs sideways from point to point, always facing the same direction as the initial leg of the plot. Is it not possible to do a waypoint hyperlapse where the camera always faces the direction of flight? Yes, I know it could be done with Free Mode, or by stitching together a set of Course Lock recordings, but that kinda defeats the purpose of automating the flight track. Your thoughts appreciated!

How can you stop/override a hyperlapse in progress? I got one of those 'aircraft nearby' alerts with my Air 2 and wanted to abort my hyperlapse in progress but couldn't get it to stop. Luckily nothing happened (manned AC was nowhere near me) but it would be nice to know for the next time. Thanks.

Push pause on the controller or press cancel on the app screen.

Is there a way to set the flying speed in Waypoints mode? The other Hyperlapse mode all have the option to change the speed but I cannot find a way to do that in Waypoints mode.

Sadly our drone is in the shop so I can't test it. It's weird that it wouldn't be there too.

Im trying to do hyperlapse circle around a point and I cant get it to work properly. My screen will not allow me to select a point. When I drag my finger across my screen to create a box, it thinks I want to move the gimbal. How can I deselect gimbal movement so I can select a point of interest on the ground? Thanks

You can't do hyperlapse and combine it with another smart feature.

HELP ME PLEASE? When i record i record at 23.98fps on my Air 2S when i put it into my editor Powerdirector 365 it has the video property at 23.00fps which ends up making my footage shaky/jerky. When i do the same thing with my Mini2 it does not do this the video is 23.98fps.... This is driving me crazy can someone help me please?

Just looks like a badly recorded video by a camera that doesn't work well.
