    They are not actually a metal band and have done a good job of turning a metal song into a hard rock song. Their original music is reminiscent of classic hard rock with some punk, pop, and grunge elements. They don't play covers very often, this was a favor to a patron fan. Dany, the guitarist/singer, has a way of becoming the character in a song and just bleeds raw emotion. Their second album, Queen of the Murder Scene, is a concept album with astonishing lyrics and musicianship. Worth a listen.

    This concert was a private show for Kickstarter supporters when the recorded their second album. They only use backing tracks for their own music. Their second album Queen of the Murder Scene has back tracks to fill in piano and other effects for specific songs during live shows.
    Ale ( pronounced AH-LEH), the bassist she one of their fan nicknames is The Groove. She does this dip quite regularly. The Spector that Ale plays was gifted by a fan. Now she has her own custom 5 signature string Spector bass just before The Warning started recording their third album in September; they just finished recording. BTW Ale is sponsored by Spector.
    Thank you for your reaction.

    Daniela Villarreal - Dany (20 yo) Lead guitar, keyboards, lead singer.
    Paulina Villarreal -Pau (pronounced pow as in powerful) (18 yo) Drums, keyboard, vocals
    Alejandra Villarreal -Ale ( pronounced AH-LEH) (15 yo) Bass, keyboards, vocals.
    The Warning got their break in 2014 with a cover of *Enter Sandman* which went viral (th-cam.com/video/1boUYB9LFJY/w-d-xo.html).

    This is where The Warning presented and released their second album *Queen of the Murder Scene* (QOTMS) Live from Lunario CDMX (Mexico City) on November 25, 2018 for the first time playing it live.
    The entire album was crowd funded through Kickstarter.

    Interesting reaction! The laptop here is for downloading the program to Dany's Line 6 pedal board. That allows her guitar signal to be cloned into multiple guitars at different octaves, effects and delays. The drums are rented because until they recently signed a record deal, they couldn't afford to take their drums to every concert. The lights on the fret board were added by Ale. Not a gimmick. She uses that to see the frets in the low light of the venue. The bass is a Spector Rachel Bolan. Metallica has said that the drummer, Pau, kicks maximum ass. If you listen to the Metallica version the two versions are quite close. If you listen to Metallica and close your eyes, you can hear The Warning.

    • @crazeyjoe
      @crazeyjoe 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Actually, that Rachel Bolan bass was gifted to her and the lighted fretboard was already added to the bass. From what I understand, they are for in the event that a song starts with a bass intro on a completely black out stage. Ale has recently received a custom Shop 5 string Spector as, at age 15, is the youngest endorser of Spector bass.

    I had been looking for your original reaction to The Warning and finally found it. They have come a long way since then, both music and shows, but maturity in these lovely young ladies. The Warning Army is like a family, with Dany, Pau and Ale staying in contact with their videos on and off stage, people like yourself that react and spread the word, plus all the followers that make this an enjoyable venture together.
    They remind me of Greta Van Fleet, from Frankenmuth, Michigan a band with 3 brothers including twins Josh (lead vocals) and Jake (guitar) plus Sam (bass, keyboard) Kiszka & Danny Wagner (drums) They sound a lot like Led Zeppelin, but play their own music. They also record for LAVA RECORDS, like The Warning.

    Cool reaction. The drumhead flag. They rent drums, remember that they are/were fan-based so they do not carry the drums with their, only the the cymbals. Pretty decent played. Pau sings almost all the time quietly and can take over in any second. In one show Dany lost her pick and had to pick it up and Pau just filled on seamless. They sometimes add additional content on the track, like a scream or so. Ale is playing Spector bass and Dany is playing Rick Toone guitar. The light-up fretboard we like!!! Haha a lot. Ale had red leds on the black Spector and blue leds on the white Spector. OK, you might want to check out an original song. Cheers

    That was a great reaction! Thank you very much. I am following this band since years and think, they might bring a new life to the rock genre. I am a bassist as well, so let me tell you a little more about their equipment. As you have been told already, Ale is using a Spector bass, that has been given to her by a fan, after she grew out of using short scales. Warwick actually ripped the outline of the body off and called their respective model Streamer (not the Corvett, you were mentioning), which led to some rivalry between Spector and Warwick users. In fact, however, apart from the looks, the two basses are pretty different regarding the used woods and hardware, esp. the bridge. Also Warwick did not use the most unique feature of the Spectors, the concave back of the bass, which leads to weight relief and special ergononics. The nice person, wjo gave her this bass, also gave her the fretboard lights, which are not included into the neck, but are a very thin stripe of duct tape with tiny LEDs in them. If you play technically good, with your thumb behind the back of the neck (like Ale does) and not around it, like you want to strangle the bass, you won't feel this tape. As there is no rhythm guitar, Ale has to work a little more than rock bassists usually have and moves around on the fretboard quite a lot. On dark stages, these lights can help a lot and the have actually started some of their shows with a bass intro in complete darkness. Regarding her amps, she was using a Mark Bass combo in the very beginning. Her sister was using Orange Amps and after Orange started to sponsor the band because of their success in social media, they also sent a bass amp to Ale, that not only she loved, but also her teacher (a very well known and respected musician in Mexico) and their producer. So she is using Orange as well now. However, they don't have the money to bring their own equipment and have to rent the backline locally. As tgey usually don't have Orange Bass Amps available, she prefers Ampegs then (whereever available, SVTs with 8x10, the classic rig). Due to this, Dany also gets her guitar sound mainly out of her pedalboard in front of a clean amp, as she has to use a lot of different amps in different locations. She is using a Helix now. Pau is actually the pilot of the band with her laptop. From the very beginning, they were using in-ear monitoring for hearing protection and to learn to play with click. The click is fed in by Pau's laptop, which also sycronizes the video screen, that they use, whetever possible. Apart from this cover, they actually do use backing tracks (also sycronized with tge click of course), where necessary, adding more guitar tracks or other instruments. However everything, you see on stage is played and sung live and they try to stay away from backing tracks as much as possible. Whenever they can, they play the piano parts in intros and outros themselves (all three can play), in one song, they exchange the piano with a guitar lick. However in order to make the live version not sound too much different from the studio version, they add additional instruments, sound effects and voices here and there. This is better than adding another bandmember, as being sisters gives them the advantage to practice everytime, they want to as they live in the same house with their practice room in their basement. Some like it, some hate it.

  • @krash66
    @krash66 3 ปีที่แล้ว +17

    Thanks for the reaction. 1) I was also cynical of them signing to a label. However, they have been pursued for years by many labels and only signed because they got what they wanted. Most indie bands take 8 weeks to negotiate a contract. They took 7 months and got creative control and rights to their songs, and they got to keep Patreon intact (contrary to your belief, this is NOT usually done being that Patreon is a separate income stream. They have over 1100 Patrons). 2) they have custom base drum heads, but they had 4 opening bands that all used the same rental kit, so they did not use their drum head. 3) Laptop: Yes, it has their click track, it also has backing tracks they have prerecorded. It also runs their video screen (Not here for this show). All of it programmed by the sisters. They all play piano and have some prerecorded keyboard and guitar loops and sound effects. But, they play all they can live. 4) Dany, guitar uses a Line 6 Helix pedalboard and gets many effects out of that to fill a 2 guitar sound. 5) Ale, Bass, is the youngest Spector Bass artist EVER at 13 years old and they just gave her a custom 5 string made in their custom shop just for her.. and Yes, she does some Gene Simmons poses. and the fret lights (they are not built in, it's a stick on led set) are so see can see a bit in the dark (which happens quite often). Thanks for coming in with an open mind and not being a cynic. LOL
    They don't do covers anymore. They have an EP and 2 full albums in English, their second language. At this show were fans that came from All over Europe, South America, North America, someone even came from Guam. These sisters are not an amateur "kid" band.
    Also, both the Bass and Guitar player are Orange Amp artists. Dany, Guitar, is a Manson guitarworks and Rick Toone/Luthier artist. Rick Toone just personally delivered two more custom guitars for Dany while recording their third album. Paulina, Drums, is a Sabian Cymbal and Vic Firth Sticks artist.
    I hope you do more of The Warning. They are not a metal band, they are a classic Power Trio Rock band. They blend Genres and decades of rock sounds in their originals. Also they are one of the few bands that is even better live than their studio recordings (and they are killer). You've been Warned!!

      For the record, I'm cynical of any band signing to a record label. Unless by some miracle they are able to keep their licensing, distribution, and publishing rights. If they managed to do that, then kudos to them, and where can we sign up? We've been offered 82 record deals from record companies all over the world...we've turned every single one of them down, because they wouldn't let us keep out licensing, distribution, and publishing rights. So we started our own record label. Again kudos to them if they managed to keep all their rights that's awesome.

They are benefitting from having a top-level producer (David Bendeth) who's teaching them a lot of important things about recording in a studio. Ale (bassist) is playing a Spector bass. The Spector NS-2 was released in 1977. Warwick released the Streamer bass in 1984 after their previous models failed to sell. At the time, Spector basses were hard to come by in Europe, so Warwick founder Hans-Peter Wilfer decided to make a duplicate copy of the Spector NS-2, which was successful. His previous models such as the Thumb bass that were a failure,went on to become successful once Warwick had the capital to pay high profile bassists to endorse them. Spector successfully sued Warwick for copyright infringement and therefore, made alterations to the Streamer bass.

    Hah hah, LOVE your intro... I know exactly what movie that dialogue was from, so you know your dealing with an old school rocker!🤣 These young ladies are taking the rock world by storm! They recently got signed by Lava Records and are in the process of finishing up their 3rd album thanks to Lava/Republic Records and David Bendeth. I'm 64 now, and this band of 3 sisters from Monterrey, MX have had more of an effect on me, musically, in the past 4 years, than most other rock groups combined. At 20, 18, and-soon-to-be-16 years old, they have managed to go from a viral TH-cam flash in the bucket, to one of the most progressive and talented 3 piece female rock groups in history!😁 I have yet to find a song of theirs I *DON'T* like, and as you are well-aware, most other groups have their great songs and 'B-sides' that you'd rather forget. Not these gals though... Seems every time they open their mouths, something fantastic comes out.
    They've drawn on the styles of the rock icons from the 70's, 80's, and 90's and added some very catchy lyrics and incorporated it into their own unique style. From their first 'Escape the Mind' experimental 'e-album', to their current rock-opera/concept masterpiece, 'Queen of the Murder Scene', you'd be pretty hard pressed to find something second-rate with any of their works (except maybe a song or two on Escape the Mind. (They were still trying to find their 'groove' with that one.)😉
    They are at their best in live performances, and this past year has been really hard on them with the 'plandemic' and all, so getting into a major studio to knock out their 3rd album has been a real morale booster for them and everyone included. Hopefully, things will get back to some semblence of 'normal', and we can start having concerts again! New subscriber here, so sorry for the mini-novel on one of the best rock bands to hit the stage in the last 30 years.🤣😁 🤘😎🤘 *EDIT:* On the 'Warning' banner draped over the kick drum, they usually don't travel with Pau's home kit, since it's cheaper and easier to rent a kit where they're going to play. Dany and Alé of course, take their own instruments, pedals, etc. and sometimes their amps, if they're playing within a reasonable distance from home. Otherwise, they will rent amps and such also.

    Two things I found out in 64 years on this earth,40 of them being a musician is people forget : 1-Taste is SUBJECTUVE! my grand paw used to say that if every body liked the same thing, they'd all be chasing your Grand Ma around! ...and 2- people only hear what the wanna hear! If they hear you criticize one thing, that's ALL they hear, so piss on them, This is my current favorite band but I know there is always room for improvement and growth. Don't compromise your own values! Your thoughts are your own. I think they probably will start relying less on pre-recorded backing tracks timed exactly to the click, in favor of more pedal effects and loops that can be triggered on demand. Pau (the drummer) does have start/stop control through a MIDI foot pedal. But I bet they'd like to be able to do more free-form jams and solos sometimes.

    You have to respect this band they are so young but when it comes to experience they are no spring chickens they have been playing together as a band for over seven years. just like all the iconic bands they have been paying there dues playing small venues. With the help of social media they have caught on worldwide. Their parents instead of having a family movie night they would watch recorded live rock concerts with them. All three girls are classically trained on the piano but migrated to their current instruments after playing the rock band video game. That sealed their fate. After that they knew what they wanted to pursue as adults. Give them credit for following their dreams and sacrificing personal time to practice practice practice. Enough said please react to the Ted Talks video. Listen to them play and give a presentation on what it took to become successful. th-cam.com/video/pj5ue3M-v6o/w-d-xo.html

Just how you would want your hard rock and metal lite to sound. I can pretty much guarantee you that if The Warning ladies were to read the vitriolic messages that you mentioned you've been subjected to, they'd be devastated and heartbroken that someone appreciating their performance would be treated thus.

    The Warning is good. Went to their concert in NYC last year. Put on a great show. How about doing a reaction to Band Maid. All female rock band from Japan. Here is some background on them and a link to their song "Domination". Miku (rhythm guitar/backing vocals) founded the band and was supposed to be lead singer but didn't think her voice was strong enough to sing the types of songs she wanted band to play, so they recruited Saiki. Miku found Kanami (lead guitar) on TH-cam. Kanami is so good that she is Miku's guitar teacher. Miku never played guitar before starting band and has improved wonderfully. Kanami knew Akane (drums) from being on different backing bands together. Akane knew MISA (bass) from attending the same music school. Miku used to work in maid cafe's in Japan and thought it would be cool to dress as maids and play music you wouldn't expect them to play. BTW the laptop is only for extra instruments like keys when they are already playing as a trio and not needed otherwise as all 3 are classically trained on the piano. Also I have heard other guitarist and bassist that are no chumps mention that they like the lighted frets so they can see it if the lighting is bad in small clubs or in the dark, so not aesthetic only at all and it was given to her by a fan, so not her choice and she received a new customer 5-string bass from Specter(NOT Warwick) and if I remember correctly no lighted frets on that one. I find your tone way to condescending for someone who I have never heard of. I don't mind criticism, but there is a way to critique something without being this condescending. As for the record contract, it normally takes 6-8 weeks to sign one and theirs took 7 months, because they would not give an inch, so they are not sellouts.
