Grant, this is awesome, man. I really enjoy watching you build up your farm and working for something you're passionate about. Congratulations on everything! Very cool to see.
A small piece of advice when putting a joiner on culverts, turn your joiner 90 degrees from where you have it, that way if you have to dig it out with an excavator you can clear the top of the culvert without damage where it bolts together. Now remember, free advice is worth exactly what you have paid for it!
Grant, you might want to talk to Cole about putting lights on your tractor. An extra half hour in the dark cam make the whole job work. In your shed keep the office space an emergency crash space. Also a heated work area is not a luxury.
Hey Grant! I love watching your videos i have been subscribed for 5 years and love watching your videos. Its cool to watch someone start a farm so close to where your viewers live. I live in Pella Iowa
Man it’s truly inspiring to see you go from playing farm sim to you trying to run your own farm this year it goin to be some awesome I can’t wait to see where things go.
Awesome to see you starting from scratch on building your farm! Could of had the county highway department come out to put in that driveway culvert and do all the ditching. At least the county highway department I work for in Wisconsin does, I do it all summer long lol. just a heads up for the future. Saves you some time and work. Keep it up!
grant i love the videos. but one thing that i would have done was put fabric on top of the dirt then put the gravel on the fabric. my fam jus built a house two years ago and we had to put a driveway in but we put fabric down so the water didnt soak through the gravel and right into the dirt it. the fabric acts like a wall for the water. also it helps bc after time the dirt turns into mud and then your driveway would start to sink down. but other then that i am looking forward on how your farm is going to come out.
Love watching these videos! Its interesting watching you start from scratch and learn as you go! A lot different of a perspective than some of the other channels I watch. Keep up the good work dude!
I LOVE takeuchi skid steers! My dad owned two and my grandpa has one, all of them around 15 years old, and they last a long time. Really good machines, and comfortable too.
that was awesome, thank you! I like how you think: you can always rent out extra space. you can get a good return, while depreciating the building. It looks so rural, I'm always surprised to hear you have municipal water there, not only private wells. Three machines with two operators is a little ambitious, possibly, but def. no harm done and experience was gained lol I appreciate you guys! Looking forward to the test results and hearing the ag grad's interpretation for us!!!!
Great job guys. But next time you gotta put in pipe use plastic. It's stronger, lighter and won't ever rust out. Check letsdig18 Chris's channel and you'll see how it's done. You're definitely buying the right equipment. That Kubota skid steer with the attachments you have were definitely a good buy.
Hahaha funny you say that. Back in middle school we had tons of airsoft wars in it. 1 team inside vs 1 team outside. Goal was for outside team to try and invade inside team.
Great Video Grant. FYI locates are only good for 2 weeks, if your ticket is not current you will be responsible for any cut off utilities. It can get real expensive.
Congrats man I’m from Australia I’m 11 years old and my mums parents came here from Malta and they started a farm and a tractor dealer my uncle owns the farm now and I want to run it and be a third generation farmer of the land love your stuff man from finley.
Great job man. I’m also a first gen farmer stating out with little and old equipment and doing the best with what we have. Its great to see others taking Interest in such a turned down opportunity
I love watching these videos, whenever I see something posted on this channel, I immediately click. Also, I can’t wait to see you grow this farm. Thank you for posting it makes my day.
Grant I really enjoy watching your content its pretty inspiring to watch someone build a farm from the ground up... one suggestion having been in agriculture and construction my whole life, being that you will build plenty more driveways and road entrances in the future you should not use topsoil and grass as a backfill if you are going to drive over that spot especially over a culvert as in the video at 7:15 ...the soil will compact and the grass will decay and compact more creating soft spots and sink holes. Always use fill dirt or stone as a base.. hope it helps in the future great job so far!
Yes, I agree. I don't really think this was fully topsoil tho. A lot of it was a real dark clay soil, that had been hauled in from somewhere else and placed on farm years ago. The reason it has had grass, was because it sat there so long. But yes I am a tad worried about some of the grass decaying. We'll see how it hold up. Thanks for the advice TH! :)
YAS A TAKEUCHI they are really good I am 14 and I bought a takeuchi digger 2 ton a tb216 it is a beast we use it to muck out the cows and bed them and even feed them with a bale because our skidsteer broke down a couple of years ago
Love watching this! Couldn’t help but laugh a bit at the skid loader being stuck in the ditch, I’ve been there a few times always a good time getting them out. Keep up the great work can’t wait for the next one!
I started watching you back in fs15 now I’m glad I’m still here watching your fs19 videos and the farm channel hope your farm comes a long awesome way 😎🤘🏻
It was more in the last video, but why tear up all the fencing? Figured you want to cleanup as close to it but seems a perfect land border. Great videos!
Looks like you should invest in a 100 gallon diesel tank and pump for your truck. Much easier than dragging a trailer through the pumps to fill the machines tank.
Grant, this is awesome, man. I really enjoy watching you build up your farm and working for something you're passionate about. Congratulations on everything! Very cool to see.
I love your vids
I’m am going to hopefully pull of what he is doing some day
