    Many of the combines might be in for the “service special”. You can take them in, they check them over, wash them, and fix things that they find (if you want them to fix it).

      Chris Rogers checked the website after. Very few were actually for sale. I think there was only 2 for sale at the locations I went to. So about 99% of those combines at dealers is the customers.

I think after your first harvest of soybeans the next planting season you will want to land roll your beans and after watching other farmers video's some say they do it so that the bean head don't dig into the soil or hit rocks it just glides across the land.

    When looking for a combine You also have to be able to keep the combine full when you are running it through the field. If you don’t keep enough grain flowing through the machine by having to small of a header for the combine or driving to slow with the right sized head you can loose grain out the back pretty easy. I would definitely have the dealers try and find you the best combine and header to fit those acres. Glad to see you are getting good emergence. Definitely be patient that corn will be to your knees faster that you can blink when the temps get to the 70s and 80s

    We run a Case IH 2388 combine, and I know several people with 2388's and 2366's and they love them. If you are going with a 6 row corn head a 2366 would be ideal, because a 6 row on anything bigger will throw corn out the back if you don't go really fast to keep it full.

    JD 9770 would be a perfect combine for you, don't worry if it's to big that's a much better problem than if it's to small, also I would make sure to get it with a " mud hog" PRWD that's where the back tires on the combine can be engaged as well for extra traction when you have wet conditions in the fall
    Message me if you have any questions I've worked with combines all my life

  • @jamesmillson6881
    @jamesmillson6881 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    If you’re going to use a 6 row head in corn you don’t need anything bigger than a class 5 combine. We pushed an 8 row with our S550 and it wasn’t a problem at all. My biggest advice for you is stay away from the 60 series combines like the 9560sts, 9660sts and so on. That was the first year of the rotary combines and a lot of guys have had trouble with them. Another thing is try to stay away form combines around the 3000 hour mark because that’s usually when the all the belts start to need replacing. Good luck

    @hin727 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Most John Deere dealers in central iowa rent spaces for farmers to store combines for the season because of the size most don’t have barn space for them. In my honest opinion you should look at around a 9610 or 9650 combine with a mud hog on it, prefect size for a 6 row or 8 row head and 25-30 foot platform, just my opinion love the videos.

    Love the videos, as for a combine, I have worked on red and green, both real good, but I recommend a 2366 or 2388 Case for a starter combine, parts are easy to get and easier to work on from a mechanical view. Look on Machinery Pete or tractor house

  • @corbinrussell6368
    @corbinrussell6368 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think you should go for a John Deere 9500 or a 9400 combine. They work really well with 6-row corn heads. The 9500 might run an 8-row corn head, but since your planter is a 12 row, a 6-row planter would work well. My neighbor has a 9400 that they run an 8-row head and a 6-row head-on. Just my input.

    Nice to see you looking for your equipment wisely. I would recommend a johndeere 9650 sts 9760sts or a 9500 . Both combines are decent machines that are going to be available due to trade ins and are large enough but yet not too big or expensive. The combine might be your most expensive equipment purchase yet but a necessary one . Good luck with the search. Take care and stay safe remember your living your dream !

    So the reason you see a lot of combines in the dealership lots right now is that deere offers a winter service special and they go through and check the machine for anything that is out of spec or needs to be replaced. All you have to do is sign off on the things that need to be replaced / put back into spec. To be honest when I send my machines in most of the stuff the come back with through are replaceable parts that I run another year. They like to say some things are "worn out" when they aren't, but the services are still great. You can do a three machine bundle so I generally do my two combines and then another machine depending on certain conditions. Like this year I bought a new planting tractor and sent it in just to get a further idea of the condition of the machine.

  • @JDHood
    @JDHood 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    That skipped row may best serve as something to remember for next year... If I was going to replant it, I guess it would depend on how far along the crop is, could the replant to catch up before it was time to combine the field and would it ultimately amount to enough bushels to be worthwhile. Whatever you decide, no doubt in my mind you will do fine either way.

    Noooo Grant....not all JD dealers are the same! Haha. Glad you’ve got a good one, we’re all JD and our dealer sucks, but I suppose that’s what happens when deere allows the same investment group who owns Applebee’s and planet fitness to buy up a lot of the former privately owned dealers in NYS and PA. We have one last locally owned dealer in our state, O’Hara machinery, which is 50 miles further than our local one, and we chose to do business we them!
