One of the best performances of the Brahms piano concerto #1 nowadays. The spirit of Brahms is well presented and heard, which is lacking if not gone amongst young pianists.
Remember the first time you came across this concerto? I do. A hs freshman taking advantage of our school's record library/listening room. Thrilled beyond belief upon hearing it.
Dudamel is more than a "very promising young conductor" - he has been the conductor/music director of the Simon Bolivar Symphony Orchestra and was appointed Music Director of the Los Angeles Philamonic Orchestra in 2009 when he was 27 years old. He is set to take over at the New York Philamonic in 2026.
Mais écoutez Trifonov avec Klaus Makela! Là il y a une énergie incroyable. Trifonov donne une interprétation subtile et fine. The energy of Youth and Vibrance is in those 2 young men. The new generation.
Wonderful pairing of musicians for a most musical performance. Tempi were perfect, balance just right, emotions controlled. Thank you so much I'll come back to this again and again.
The sound of the orchestra was so sophisticated and in perfect harmony with Barenboim… Dudamel is really a genius and Barenboim a great interpreter of this piano concerto…
The rage in the first movement is completely transformed by the end of the third movement into complete joy. It's a miracle on Brahms's part, and Barenboim pulls it off in this performance. Simply wonderful.
How wonderful to hear a performance of this marvellous work that doesn't prioritise speed above articulation. So much detail and sensitive phrasing here, so often masked by an emphasis on technological pyrotechnics by younger virtuosi - ah, the wisdom of age!❤
I love his attacks on the piano , you can tell he knows every instrument part in this composition. And as he set still . He is listening to the orchestra individual parts . And good musicianship with the conductor. ❤❤❤. I love Claudio also . I wish Martha Argerich would play this .❤❤❤ the poor piano would be devastated 😂😂😂
He plays this beautifully, although I’m not usually a fan of Barenboim’s playing. But I wonder how he has been able to maintain such a formidable technique, given all his other responsibilities; when does he manage to practice?
Dear @kaleidoscopio5, thank you for your important hint. We have corrected the error immediately. We are very pleased that we have such attentive viewers as you. Best regards, Your DW Classical Music Team
I"ll never stop saying it: to listen to almost 25 minutes of this caliber of music and then TO JUST SIT THERE IN SILENCE BECAUSE OF SOME ARCANE AND IDIOTIC "CUSTOM" is just plain nuts. Where but the concert hall do we have this complete absence of natural reaction? (not opera, not ballet, not Broadway, not jazz) The audience should be applauding wildly.
Every pianist uses excess rubato in that entrance - Glenn Gould plays it strictly a tempo and it sounds better. Bernstein and Gould disagreed on the tempo for this piece - Gould wanted it a lot slower than Bernstein thought it should go but Gould did not compromise.
I am usually a big Barenboim fan but i found this didn’t grab me. My favourite concerto (favourite recording is ashkenazy/haitink) I must be missing the point on this one. Only listened to 1st movement.
Ce Barenboim est décidément infatigable !!!! Le spectacle pour le spectacle. Toujours.
Barenboim is way past his prime as a pianist, having spent the past thirty years of his career as a very successful conductor. This Berlin concert feels almost like a vanity event. It is a hopelessly haphazard, fragmented performance. If you love Barenboim as a pianist, listen to his old recordings. This is borderline painful to listen to.
Wow- what a terrible recording! Did they forget to mike the horns? Performance was really dull too. Too bad. At least there are plenty of good recordings available.
Barenboim in his weakest ability as piano player, And his ability has been steadily declining for at least 25 years, before this performance. The orchestra is OK but nothing special. They didn't bring Dudamel to conduct this concert so simple, boring rendition as the German way. No passion, No enthusiasm, No creativity.
Maestro Barenboim is a genius. A privileged brain and a privileged soul. May his music continue for many more years to come. Thank you, Maestro.

Maestro Barenboim, the living god of both Beethoven and Brahms 🎹concertos; his performance of cadenzas is sublime ❤
Can’t say the same about Dudamel and his impotent left hand though
@@jakeplonk888i mean dudamel is a much better and meaningful musician than barenboim, so i dont get the reason why anyone cares about his left hand.
This is my favorite of the two. Beautiful performance here by Dudamel and Barenboim.
Remember the first time you came across this concerto? I do. A hs freshman taking advantage of our school's record library/listening room. Thrilled beyond belief upon hearing it.
Yes, spring time and I was listening to the 3rd movement over and over.
Attraction of this wonderful performance is profound and immeasurable and off the charts
I am only intoxicated with this graceful performance
This duo 🤌🤌🤌

Wow! What a performance. Stunning. ❤❤❤
That second movement is a marvelous slow burn ❤️👍. The Mahler Adagietto of Great Piano Concerto movements😁
Huge thanks that have to listen this such famous concerto by Brahms.
the long wait is over! thank you DW❤
You're more than welcome, we're glad you enjoyed it! 💕

It’s wonderfull melody and great tecnic
What an absolutely amazing performance! I don't believe I've ever heard it played with such beauty and grace! Bravo!!
We're glad you enjoyed it! 🥰
Prachtvoll. Machtvoll. Wissend um jedes Detail. Aus der Gesamtheit des Werkes heraus gespielt. Barenboim eben!
Words feel short to explain the wonder I experienced ! Spectacular Performance !

Merci beaucoup and mazel tov!! 💖
Bravo!!! ❤️🌹👏🏼

Que magnífica técnica interpretativa.
He is a great person and player and a smart director.
Grazie
Maestro Barenboim is genius!!!❤
Two genious together on stage.
This is easily my favorite version, wow
Good collaboration

He is a genius, he obviously learns faster than the average...
There is an unaccurate fact at the description....it mentions the second concerto when it shoul be the first 🧐

Sehr schwer erkrankt seit über 2 Jahren.😢
I usually listen Brahms to get a good sleep.
Is it casual Tuesday for Maestro Barenboim? Cool. Nice playing too.
@im_lopez This duo? It's a trio.
Barenboim, Dudamel and Du Pré.
Bravíiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiisimo
❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉
Haven't seen such amount of liberty he took with the ending before. 😄 Anyway, interesting and revealing performance although I'm not his greatest fan.

When was this performance given?
The performance is from 3.9.2014 at Musikfest Berlin.
@@MM-111 Thanks so much. A friend of mine and I were debating how old this was. I thought it was older. You settled it for us.🙂
Hi @MM-111! Thank you for stepping in 😊

Glenn Gould? Right. You bet. Sure. He was the greatest Glenn Gould who ever lived.
What is the date of this performance? That information is missing from the title, the description and the notes.
I found that the performance is from 2014, but not the exact date.

Y ese final ?😅

I personally think Maestro Barenboim is a better conductor than a pianist.
Could you be half as good as him in either?
thanks for your opinion. but… we don’t need it. all we need is music. right ?
1000 better than me for sure ☺️.
🙏♥️🌏🌍🌎🌿🕊🎵🎶🎵🎶💫✨️💫

I mean it's good, but it ain't no Zimmerman & Bernstein
I'm surprised Dudamel doesn't know the work by heart. As for Barenboim's piano playing... well,,, (dull and insignificant as usual.)

what a vague criticism.
Wahahahahahaha wahahahahahaha wahahahahahaha flute sounded a bit awkward in the opening
Say you don’t understand a live performance from 10 years ago a little louder please.
Recording sound is poor. Performance by both pianist and orchestra is mediocre.
