I am preparing this piece for a local performing arts festival and have been playing along this video almost every day. As you can imagine, I have listened to a lot of different pianists performing this piece, but Kissin's interpretation seems the most loyal to Mozart's work. First, the speed: he doesn't play it too fast like other pianists. I can hear every note and follow the musical story. It's as if he doesn't need to show off his skills with high speed. Second, his balance with the orchestra. He plays with the orchestra instead of the orchestra accompanying him. There are 2 parts in the first movement where the soloist accompanies the orchestra that plays the melody, and he respects that. Other pianists play those parts loudly as if they are playing the melody. What I love about Kissin, in general, is his humility and musical faithfulness to the pieces and the composers who wrote them.
Probably the most beautiful, together with the nos. 9 and 21, of the "Divino" piano concerts. I remember the visit to his birthplace in Salzburg: the notes of the Adagio accompanied us through the rooms, full of objects belonged to Wolfgang: emotional. I chose the Adagio for the main scene of the best between my theatrical works as an amateur author. Thanks, Wolfgang.
Evgeny Kissin is such a true musician! he plays from the heart! he can play anything he gets his hands on! When I hear Kissin it reminds me there is indeed civilization!
I heard him in Cologne when he was very young and I too. I heard some good musicians there but that performance was not from this world. His special strength is a absolutely pure and clear tone.

Another beautiful performance by Kissin. This is indeed as it should be. Refined, about the music and no speeding through the third movement as the modern clones tend to do. At Julliard, during the internal competition with this work, everyone sped though the third movement as if it were marked Presto and written by Liszt. A member of the faculty that was known as Mr. Metronome at the time to the students, asked what happened as I chose a tempo similar to what you hear above. I remember remarking back that it is as I felt it should be in good taste. I remember hearing the RCA recording of Rubinstein with a similar tempo and grace but one need not be vindicated in such cases. The music demands time to be heard and felt at any given tempo. When it is not about that any longer, it is too fast.
Comfort and gracefulness of this wonderful performance are beyond description Mozart is a great musical Alchemist , and his music will quench and moisturize the dryness of the soul Mozart’s music is a inspirational gem
Bravo - just ravishing. Rarely heard this concerto accompanied with such taste. Bravo maestro Luisi. And of course the playing from the soloist and this wonderful ensemble is an absolute joy
This is truly Mozart’s music. This man plays every note correctly, every rhythm, every pause, with a calmness that makes it seem effortless. Especially in the Rondo alla Turca section, he takes Mozart’s already perfect piece and makes it even stronger.
Ole Evgeny Kissin has been at it and in the limelight since early childhood. He has maintained a beautiful trajectory of ultimate artistry and musical maturity throughout. This particular Mozart concerto is a profound, but lofty pinnacle of his sublime genius. It seems Kissin has achieved a status of worthy acclaim that graces him to express his heart as it pleases him. Consequently, he takes the ardent music lovers along by gorgeous, philosophic persuasion. 💫❤️🎼🎹😇. PWG

The orchestra was very enthusiastic, I see..I am so glad this Mozart concert was chosen to perform..and Evgeny played superbly I got goosebumps after the first passage..I liked the tempo ..where I can really hear each lovely, melodic note...Thank you for the upload !

I like how we got the Rondo alla **Turca** just in time for Thanksgiving. This should be everybody's listening on a holiday that eats turkey. Eat'n turkey & Kissin Turca, is a good match.
What a marvelous concerto! This masterpiece alone proves his outstanding mastery. The f# sharp minor movement is so expressive. He somehow seems to avoid the sharp minors for whatever reasons. I suggest a discussion about this among all Mozart friends.
I don't know Mozart's personal preferences regarding keys and what they expressed to him, but it could be that sharp keys, specially f# minor have very emotional power. I couldn't know, but could be that he didn't want to be extremely emotional or introspective in his music at all times (?) It's only a guess, and I don't know if I'm ever remotely correct with this. I only said it because there is something in that second movement that always brings me to tears (I don't usually cry with music/movies or whatever media), there is a lot of emotions going on that second movement. I don't know if it's frequent that someone else experiences something similar with this particular movement. If it's something frequent then that could be why Mozart avoided such keys (?)
Evgeny Kissin is the supreme master! Magnificent performance, 👏👏👏 Mozart is surely the greatest musician of all time. The melodies are simply out of this world. Absolutely love this piano concerto, and along with No 21 are two of my favourites! Having said that, everything this genius composed was simply awe inspiring! ❤️❤️❤️❤️👏👏👏👏 Very disappointing that we have these irritating and annoying advert breaks during a piano concerto!

I played this concerto ❤ Evgeny is a romantic pianist, him playing Mozart is quite unusual, it almost sounds a little heavy , but well, whom am I to judge Evgeny for this romantic performance of a classical piece 😂
at 0:37 and 0:38 in the clip you can hear just two notes of some flute I'd guess in the background and I ask myself, as the last note turns out to be the fifth - an e -, if the first note is some d-sharp and thus not within A-Major... ...but I couldn't say on the spot, so I need to work on it, the moment my life is restored... ...but I got a slight impression of dissonance in this interval, and I need to ask Joana about... ...spotless is the piano though and I actually never heard some kind of spotted concertation on hearing Jevgeny Kissin... ...actually always beyond perfection Le p'tit Daniel

at 0:37 and 0:38 in the clip you can hear just two notes of some flute I'd guess in the background and I ask myself, as the last note turns out to be the fifth - an e -, if the first note is some d-sharp and thus not within A-Major... ...but I couldn't say on the spot, so I need to work on it, the moment my life is restored... ...but I got a slight impression of dissonance in this interval, and I need to ask Joana about... ...spotless is the piano though and I actually never heard some kind of spotted concertation on hearing Jevgeny Kissin... ...actually always beyond perfection
