Nobody's perfect my friend. In an ideal world, we'd all be our OWN role-models. I am a huge MM fan though, don't get me wrong. He handles loss with true dignity as well, which is admirable.

I would absolutely watch a guard passing tutorial if DJ made one. Almost everyone pulled guard and he just hops one side or the other no issues. Crazy impressive
he has a different sense of humility and he really shows his true colors with his character, he is someone i look up to and encourage others to find one like dj who leaves it all out there every time!

DJ's ability to look at his match in a 3rd person POV, is unmatched. He seems to have a unique ability to see his own fight from ring side. I've been doing BJJ for 8 years on and off, but I can't figure out how he thinks the way he does, as quickly as he does, it's impressive.
@@Erick_0510 That depends on several variables. If you are athletic and a quick learner you could see it in about 10 years, at a realistic pace. I've been sitting at Purple for about 4 years now because I don't spend a lot of time in the gym. It really comes down to how many hours of mat time you can get in.

If you've been practicing for so long and still aren't able to have this basic ability, then the problem comes from you, he has no particular ability it's just how it's supposed to be for most of us flighters
i think round 5 looked dangerous for dj in the beginning. his opponent made a mistake in going out of bounds or dj tried to get an out of bounds call to reset himself. but after that call it was game over. respect to all participants.
I just wish he was in the ufc to see how good he really is. He lost to a guy in One championship. Not sure how he would do agasint Moreno or figuerido.

You are absolutely correct, but DJ is no ordinary warrior. He is in the Goat category, when you’re so far ahead of everybody and legendary that there’s literally just nobody on your plain or level to be your enemy. The even the guys he fights now are guys that idolize and look up to him.

the fact that you think playing bottom game is a coward's move is astonishing , especialy in mma. In pure grappling it takes A LOT of skills and flexibility. It might be boring to watch,but i've seen TONS of boring matches in ALL martial arts. Either you've never trained bjj in your life or you're just a frustrated wrestler who cant pass anyone's guard.
This is such a uneducated view. If you have a height advantage, long legs and a good guard with many attacks, sweeps, submissions, why would your priority be to take down your opponent?
Super impressive performance I watched all your matches live. I wasn’t sure how you be if you were trapped in someone’s guard and the guy had a legit lapel game but you breezed through it, thought it was impressive that you pulled guard too and we’re comfortable working from bottom. Think I just assumed you’d bring a more mma / nogi style of wresting into the gi comp but legit you’re a top gi player, passing was phenomenal. Congrats dude 🔥🔥

The thing that impresses me the most about DJ is that he is considered one of the goats but is still so coachable and respects his coaches so much. Love it
This is why he is where he is. A lot of incredibly talented and gifted people get in their own way and let their egos slow them down.
It's very very rare you see a gifted athlete who has the combined attributes of humility and humbleness and skill.

the fact that you think playing bottom game is a coward's move is astonishing , especialy in mma. In pure grappling it takes A LOT of skills and flexibility. It might be boring to watch,but i've seen TONS of boring matches in ALL martial arts. Either you've never trained bjj in your life or you're just a frustrated wrestler who cant pass anyone's guard.
This is such a uneducated view. If you have a height advantage, long legs and a good guard with many attacks, sweeps, submissions, why would your priority be to take down your opponent?

I wasn’t sure how you be if you were trapped in someone’s guard and the guy had a legit lapel game but you breezed through it, thought it was impressive that you pulled guard too and we’re comfortable working from bottom.
Think I just assumed you’d bring a more mma / nogi style of wresting into the gi comp but legit you’re a top gi player, passing was phenomenal.
