      Maybe their dog was out or inside the house? My mum has a collie that has to get locked in a different room if tradespeople or delivery folk come to the house as she goes beserk, she's just noisy. They may not have a dog, or the sign may relate to a dog they moved, as having a leaping yapping dog isn't great when someone is trying to climb onto the roof.

      @Shaun Fleming Sure. Of course. Even my pittie will bark or growl a warning to a stranger....or just the doorbell lol. But he isn't going to just freak out and attack for no reason. We've had rescues for over 15yrs. And before that we had a rescue husky and a rott-chow-collie mix and several rescue Collies. They all acted just like our Pibbles. And they could all be scary if threatened. Or if any of us were threatened. The lover we have now even growled a warning at the vet. She just laughed and told him it was ok and patted him. It was because she came flying into the room and right at me and she said he's just protecting you. The Rott tried to take a chunk out the vets ass one day because the husky...his "wife", had to get a shot and she squealed. It was really close too. But if you watch enough clips and see the bait dog rescues you'll see. The pitbulls are scared like all other dogs. They are wary...and yet you will see what usually happens when they finally give up and let themselves be loved. I'm not saying 100%. There IS no true total anything really. But they are the same as all the other breeds once they see no more hurt. Loving. Out of their minds with gratitude. Even after being hurt and starved and abandoned by some crappy monster "human" they forgive and forget in their doggie way. All the breeds. And alot of the time the ones who actually BITE or go after the rescued are NOT pitbulls. Many times the smaller or "safe" dogs...or the breeds people...well some people...think are safest..like around kids...retrievers and labs and spaniels etc...are the ones who go batshit crazy and bite. I know all the other things saying pitties are unpredictable and have locking jaws and blah blah blah. Not any truer than for any other dog. NO locking jaw either. I asked the vet years ago. Not. They ARE strong and tenacious and they don't WANT to let go, but that's no different from most critters with something they want. There are alot of little terrier breeds and they were bred to rid the castle or wherever of vermin. And they can certainly be tenacious little buggers! We have had those too. Just lost our jackrat in 2018. That's Jack Russell terrier mixed with Rat terrier. Cute..but a real nightmare. He tore into our pitties for over 10yrs. He bit part of my fam as well. Never got me..but I told him I'd bite him back too so😈? He and our Titan were ratters tho. Pitbull terrier and little jackrat terrier. Not alot of wildlife on the ground when they were around.
      Oh boy. Typed a book. TLDR for most. Whatever. Most of the time the more dangerous end of a pibble is the wiggly one. That flying heavy duty tail from the wigglebutt can knock a kid right over. And they usually step on your feet, jump in your lap for hugs and suffocate you and all food must be carefully guarded if you and your fam want to eat. That includes any other critter friends too. Our pittie used to eat the grains the chins spit out of their cage. He would just lay there waiting no matter what my daughter did. Nuts. He never growled or tried to bite if you took it away tho. The jackrat sure did. Even if he didn't want it he'd try to rip your face off. Say do you know what that other guy meant? About it not being so and sos dog?🤔 Have a nice weekend. Sorry for the blah blah. Haha.🐾🤘

      They just get a bad rap. Nobody ever compares the amount of poodle attacks to pitbull though... A lot of poodles are very nervous, angsty little dogs with a knack for biting/being protective of the one lap they tend to sit on. And yet, this comment is not a condemnation of poodles.

    • @CBlargh
      @CBlargh 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @django3422 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I get the idea of why, it's just that it's an idea that often doesn't sync up with reality.
      With every dog attack, regardless of the dog's breed, there's always context. But in cases such as pitbulls, who've literally been given this reputation by humans, it seems that most people ignore the context and just blame the breed. That's actually quite worrying to me, as it shows a lack of consideration and critical thinking in favour of blind bias. Which is a bad way to approach most things in life.

    • @CBlargh
      @CBlargh 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@django3422 Agreed. Dog people are probably partly to blame for that, because we do sometimes speak in terms of breed temperament. Any dog can bite, it's true, but just rolling the dice on a dog that's _likely_ to bite without knowing anything else about the context, pitbulls would seriously be at the bottom of my list.

After a moment being confused I ran to the backyard to grab a ladder but when I got there he was back on the ground. To this day I don't know how he got up there or got back down. It never happened again, and he wasn't talking so it just became one of the 7 wonders of the world.

    Our American Staffordshire “Pittie” was just like him, so loving, so full of energy, so caring, when our cat had gotten tore up by some critter of unknown genus. Chewii nursed him, always attending to him. We called him Nurse Chewii ! He was just that way, he was a talker too, and quite a character. He wouldn’t hurt other dogs, never did, even when they would break free and charge him, he got the upper hand quickly and quietly, and not shaking them, he just had them and they knew it, and they clearly understood to leave him alone. He was the most mature self assured in tune Friend of 16 years we have ever had, and we miss and think of him all the time. He passed suddenly one night with pain and spasms, he’s so very missed and greatly loved!

      @@rawjan39 A true Pitbulls is half Staffordshire bull terrier and half old white English bull terrier, so a Am staff is Closely related to a pitbull, its one of the original breeds where the pitbulls came from, if you mate both breeds you get pitbull puppies, some americans today breed american bull dogs with staffies to make a bigger pitbull but thats not a real pitbull

      @@subconscious.com_usa6691 No such thing as Big Pitbulls. Anytime you cross any dogs with another different type of dog . You can't turn around and call it the same thing. That's not how it works. The American pit bull terrier (the pit bull) . Yes . Is a Staff crossed with a Bull Terrier (the old Bull terrier not the Spud McKenzie). The American Staffordshire terrier started out as the American pit bull terrier under the Akc. The Akc doesn't recognize the American pit bull terrier nor likes the name pit bull. Because it associated with dogfighting. So they placed the dogs under another name (American Staffordshire terrier). In the 1930's the American Staffordshire terrier became it's own breed. @subconscious.com_usa6691 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@rawjan39 I am not quite sure a AM staff is the same as a staffordshire bull terrier or not, they look a like. what i meant is, to get a true pit bull you have to cross a staffordshire bull terrier with a old white english bull terrier, not a Am staff with a pitbull, if a Am staff is the same as a staffordshire bull terrier, all you need to do is breed it with a old white english bull terrier to get, pit bull puppies.
      Despite the name American pitbull, the breed actually originates from england and the original parent dogs were originally bred for rat control purposes around English cities, they were later used for dog fighting and other bloodsports, both dogs showed advantages and disadvantages in the pit, by breeding both dog together they got a more powerful and slightly bigger dog which they called a pit bull.
      What I was referring to about the big pitbull, is that some breeders in america actually do breed american bull dogs with AM staffs to get a huge looking pitbull which they try and say is a true pitbull but its not,, i agree with you there is no such breed, and those huge looking pitbulls are not pitbulls,
