@@DJ_Driven good point. Yeah reading plugs isn't possible if coated in that orange soot. Another good on the shelf octane booster is the Royal Purple Max Boost. It only increases octane by 3 points but it doesn't seem to leave any build up like the Octanium.
If you tuned for any Ethanol wouldn't the duty cycle of the injectors be higher? Basically you would be running rich if you are not running E30...correct?
Man this is great. We get really bad fuel here in Qatar with no option of E85. I'm looking to use the VP with 95 so I can use a better file and actually just see how it performs with my current 95 file.
I timed your “3.98” frame by frame bro. It is 4.45 seconds. So a half a second slower then that cheap whatever app youe trying to use lol. Dragy is the only Reliable way to test this stuff. These apps are just guessing basically. The first run was a 4.61 where it said a 5.00 or whatever.. so again way off
Assuming it's 98 octane using the same rating system as in North America, it depends. Unless your engine has a very high compression ratio, or you're running loads of boost, 98 octane is more than enough for most performance engines.
93 octane at the pump, must be awesome. I thought only Colorado had shit gas, but on a road trip to Chicago a few weeks ago I discovered that Nebraska and Iowa now also have shit 91 in the pumps. Wasn't till we hit IL that 93 became available. How do we stop this bad gas? Modern cars need octane no matter the altitude, even Silverados have like 10:1 compression these days. The whole ethanol thing is scary too, like you say, it's only available at shady gas stations, you never know what you're getting.
10:1 isnt very high. In fact thats average. The manufacturers made sure these engines can run off 87. Unless its recommended in the manual, you dont need premium.
Weird we've had 93 at the local station for the last three years we've been in Colorado, if you're really hurting for high octane fuel try calling up a few small municipal airports. one of em might hook you up with some 100LL but I think it's about $7 a gal at the moment.
My 10.5:1 civic states 87 octane in the manual... When you talk about high comp that would be 12:1 or up or a turbo car. That Silverado bet you runs perfectly on 89.
I wonder if he knows that those apps are not always accurate… maybe if he had a draggy that actually connects to your car that actually gives you an accurate time these apps are ehh flimsy at best
Also draggy doesn't " connect to your car" it uses satellite data position for the times. Extremely accurate. Even better than obd2 setups that factor wheel speed x distance. But that's only accurate on stock wheel and tire setups. Draggy eliminates those variables and goes off actual GPS speed.
I hear and see from forums that this stuff tune your plugs brown , and I use it, I told my tuner ryan and he didn't mention anything . So ima follow up again on that
Yes it does, it also turns your turbine wheel orange. But in my experience it doesn't cause any issues. It doesn't leave deposits on the plug or anything. And I drive an N54 lol if it was going to cause a misfire or ruin injectors, it would be on this car.
I don't remember the name of that app. I used that app because of its simple display for the video. A very popular and great phone based performance app is Ulysses Speedometer. Not as accurate as something like a Dragy, but it gets you in the ballpark.
You can. But if the car was optimized to run on 87 octane, using a product like this will not make any difference in performance. Now if the car is optimized to run on 93 octane, you can use this product to boost the octane of lower grade gasoline like 91 octane that is found in the western states.
The car was tuned for a e30 blend, however the gas I was getting was horrible. So I added the Octanium to raise the octane. The car wasn't retuned to specifically run the higher octane.
There's a much better and cheaper alternative, and that's Lucas octane booster. I put that, and 93 octane into the tank of my old 4-cylinder Ranger. It made a very huge difference! Went from being 119HP to 135HP. The HP bump might not sound like a whole lot, but trust me, it's a night and day difference in a mini truck. It's not good for your engine to do this all the time, since it only recommends 87. But for highway driving I definitely recommend doing this.
Not a credible post. You didn't dyno same day to actually verify this, and you 're just making up numbers. I can say this so confidently, because your truck isn't tuned for anything higher than 87. You could add 104 octane and you wouldn't see any benefits, because your car's engine isn't a high enough compression to get any net benefit from the fuel's resistance to detonation. You're wasting your money and making things up.
@@TH-camHandlesAreStupid you seem to be very ignorant by not knowing some engines with knock sensors can adjust timing based on octane... and increase horespower
@@TH-camHandlesAreStupid it definitely didn’t jump up that high but I do believe the cars that are tuned for 87 can see a benefit from running on 93. Let me give you one example I have a four cylinder that has a 13 to one compression ratio. It’s tuned for 87 out of the factory now what happens say seven years later with 120,000 miles on it after I have some carbon deposits on the engine doesn’t carbon effectively raise the compression ratio? In theory couldn’t see some benefit.
If you're not getting any knock with your current tune, you'll not likely gain any power by using it. If you ARE getting knock then this will certainly help. Adding more timing will always help unless you're maxed already with what that combo likes. If you can add timing, using Octanium with more timing will certainly yield more power.

Yes, higher octane does resist knock alot better but you're wrong about the power part. There is power to be gained with higher octane fuel when tuned. IE more and timing or more boost.

Knock sensors are used to detect low octane. There's no way for the computer to measure octane %
My programmer in my car has a LEARNED OCTANE RATIO to do just that
If you read the product description that 7 octane # is based on up to 10G of fuel not a full take of gas…
How many points would it lower if you put it in a 14 gallon tank🤔with 91 gas
