Use a good quality heavier weight hydraulic oil and that will slow the descent down and make it smoother. They probably ship wiith some cheap thin motor oil.
That wouldn't surprise me with these cheaper hydraulics. That is a good tip!
I have the same lift and it works great for my Victory Kingpin. I do strap the bike to the lift though.
Hey Scott! I did strap it down for some recent work but not during testing. Felt pretty confident with the bike in that state. Might even have mumbled "That ain't goin nowhere". :)
I have this same jack that I used for a previous bike. It works very well, I never experienced the hopping motion during lowering like you did. My only problem is I now have a 2016 Magnum and it’s too low for the jack. I have to air up the rear shock to the max or drive the rear wheel up on a 2X4, but it works.
Thanks for watching and for the comment. It would be nice if the jack went just a bit lower. I'm glad you aren't experiencing the jumping. I'm wondering if it is just hit or miss depending on what unit you get. I do find that i don't get as much of it when I life lighter bikes such as the Magna. A 500 pound bike seems to be more forgiving. But your Magnum should be the same weight as this XC so... Ride safe!
I bought one of these and for the price it is pretty good. It does the job. I also got a skid plate from Witchdoctors which eliminates the need for the shim as well protects the underside of my Vision when I have to run on dirt and gravel. We have a lot of dirt and gravel in South Dakota. Good content, Bro!
That is a really good point about the skid plate Vincent. That would simplify jack placement I would think. I used to have plenty of gravel roads where I grew up years ago. Since moving to KC, not so much. Thanks for the insight on the plate!
Use mine on a Magnum and it smooth, I only jack it up high enough to adjust belt, have no reason to jack it up as high as you did in your test
That is a great point Harold. I'm sure most are like you and will use the first locking point 80% of the time. Not too many jobs that would require it to be up any higher. Thanks for weighing in!
I have this same jack. I like everything about it .....except the unpredictable lowering. I've gotten used to it , but it's annoying.
Do you get similar jumping with yours? Also, curious how heavy your bike is?
@@chasingredlineofficial
I have the same jerky action when lowering. If I fully depress the pedal it drops the bike too fast. Mine weighs about 750.
@@48grizzly Thanks for confirming you see the same behavior. I tend to have better results with my 500 pound bike.
I got that lift about 3 months ago I've used it a dozen times and it works great. I have no issues with this lift at all...
Awesome! Thanks for sharing your experience.
I love this lift. I just press steady to lower. I think because you were tapping it was jumping.
That is great that it works well for you. I find that I don't get the jumping on my 500lb Magna bike but I do on the cross country at closer to 800lb. What bike are you lifting typically? Thanks for watching!
I have a 728 lb Heritage.
@@JennyCheyrock Thank you for the response. Has been a great lift and value for the price. Looking forward to more maintenance videos this spring.
