I've had mine for years with no issues ... I love it. The first thing I did was get rid of that standard wheel vice too. Used the same Harbor freight Condor locking wheel chock too LOL. I drilled a few holes and added some eyelet bolts for some extra tie down spots ...
Great review, thanks for posting! I just bought one of these and am very happy with the performance for my own personal bike maintenance use. Like you, the first thing I replaced was the front chock for stability and safety. To expand on your safety bar comments while the lift is raised (great job to point that out btw), any home/diy professional hydraulic lift, including car jacks, are NOT designed to hold the load up while you perform your maintenance (please save the "I do it all the time" comments and hear me out.) The hydraulics are intended to lift and lower a load only. You have to mechanically lock it out after you raise it so there is no load on the hydraulics. I can't tell you how many reviews I've read about people complaining of the hydraulics failing, leaking, or creeping down during use. It's also really dangerous as sometimes there can be a catastrophic failure without warning, not just a fluid leak with creeping (which is why you always use a lift with jack stands). Although the more expensive/quality lifts will have better hydraulics (good seals and valving), they will still fail prematurely if you keep the load on after lifting. Make your lift last longer and be safe - use the lock out bar!
I thought the same left about four years ago for about $400. So far has been working great the whole time and the only upgrades I had to do was at a vice style wheel chock and I put a 12 inch wide strip of skateboard grip tape down the entire deck and ramp. The grip tape is because one time I was loading the bike after riding in the rain and it almost slipped off the lift. I also use a scissor jack just like yours on my lift. The only other accessory I would highly recommend is get what's called a mechanics roller seat. It's a low roller chair with a tray under it that's the perfect height to sit on next to the lift and work on your bike.
I just posted this on another HF review but I think it needs to be said: Bought this lift about 7 years ago. Used it for my 06 Royal Star Venture and two late model Ultra Limiteds until last week. I really liked it although the 1000 lb rating seemed a little wobbly when those big bikes were up and the platform was pinned. Last week I was getting ready to service my 2021 FLHTK Ultra and had the bike set and secured to the platform. I pumped the foot lever and realized nothing was moving. I depressed the release lever and tried pumping it up again to no avail. I walked to the other side and I could see the right side frame rail was bent outwards. WTH? I put the ramp back on, removed the tie-downs and backed my bike off really carefully. When I lifted the inspection plate I could see the problem. The weld where the flat triangular plate welds and meets the ram on the jack had split and in the process of me pumping to lift the bike it all went sideways and bent just about all the mechanisms and linkage. Even one pivot axle came out of its cradle where the frame rail bent. Up to last week I probably would've recommended this lift, maybe I still would for lighter bikes but I won't be buying another. I honestly believe it's rated a bit over it's weight capacity. I'm just thankful it didn't have a failure when the bike was in the air and I was able to get the Ultra back on the ground safely!
I was thinking a similar thing - I wouldn't put a beast of a bike on this thing but, mine is under 500lbs so I'm hoping this will do the trick for simple jobs.
So, motorcycles are kind of a second hobby/passion of mine. My primary passion would have to be antique tractors. When I get my lift, it will be pulling double-duty in my shop. I have a tractor waiting on a transmission rebuild, and this lift will be perfect for that task as well. Once we get the rear wheels and axles removed, we'll slide this lift under the trans and then split the trans. As long as this table is, it will give us plenty of room to disassemble and rebuild it. Beats the hell out of wallering it around on a bench up against the wall, or on the floor. As for the motorcycles, I have a '69 Honda SL90 up for restoration, and from the sounds of it, I'll be getting my late Grandpa's '09 Yamaha V Star, which needs some TLC from not being ridden in a couple years. Thanks for your review, going over the features, and telling us what you've changed on it. I was leaning towards getting one anyway, but now I'm convinced. Thanks again
I did the same mod with the wheel chock, but it put my Indian back tire right on the edge of the ramp and it made it where I wouldn't be able to use the rear tire drop-out. I moved the chock 6" forward and it's holding up nicely! Oh, I also cut part of the rear frame to the chock also so that I could get a oil pan in there.
Had mine for 3 years and love it. I knew the original wheel chock was junk so bolted on the nice black one you used since new. I mounted mine with 9" overhang which puts the 2002 Road King rear fender 3" onto deck. Almost all lifting devices have mechanical locks to take weight off hydraulics and for safety. Never know when seals or hoses blow, controls get bumped and someone gets serious hurt or killed.
Nice man. I think some people don’t use the stop and leave the stand jacked up and I think it causes the Jack to go bad faster but that’s just my theory I haven’t had any issues
I wanted to buy one of these for me and my wife's bikes, will have to get one. Also noticed the Marine flag, my son is also a Marine. Thanks for your service.
BTW, the lift come with a wheel clamp, not a chock.. you can remove the clamp or get it out of the way when the wheel needs to be worked on, with a chock, you have to take the bike back off and then back on again get the upgraded clamp from HF
I bought a lift yesterday on sale with coupon $499.99 it supposed to arrive at HF on 5/11/23 I'm going to buy a wheel chock after watching your video. I've been watching the sales at HF for months, and that's the cheapest I've found. Thank you, JR Boise
Bought mine for $365 at Harbor Freight about the same time with 25%off coupon. Also I just put two Wood blocks 10x10 (one on each side) inside the original front wheel chock clamp and it works just FINE!
There's a sale on right now with a coupon, $100 off. If there's no coupon right now, just wait, these coupons come out at least a couple of times a year. The $80 accessory front wheel clamp is a good buy - the front stop is removable so you can get it clamped, secure the bike using a scissor lift and straps, then remove the front stop and get the front tire out.
Great video reason number one sells it for me! Thanks for taking the time to do an honest review and show people how to use the tool properly including the safety for hydraulic longevity.
I would like to add an idea. the Pittsburgh chock is great, however on my 1700 Triumph Storm, I have a 130 70/19 front and its a VERY tight fit. Too tight IMHO, so I used a piece of thin cardboard to make a template off the front mount holes to add some space to the rear pivot point.
Thank you for an honest review! Just got mine for $449, HF has a coupon for TG24 and usually $550. Need it to restore my Grandfathers 1962 BSA A10 Super Rocket and figured it would be great to sit down and assemble the motorcycle!
You should have the weight on the stop at ALL times when the jack is up. Pump it up, put in the stop bar, release the pressure on the pump. Even if it's for a 10 minute oil change. The lift is much more stable on the stops than on the pump, and it's too easy to step on or drop something on the release lever.
yours was around 350 yours is the version 1 the new version 2's are now 550 and the pumps are junk mine kept leaking down and i know u will say cuz i left it with weight on it but that is not the case i opened the pump up and found metal shavings in it from factory like the assembled it in the lathe scrap bin figured ok bad batch ordered another one same thing but its all well now modified mine to push button up and down very nice now helps with getting things up and down on my over head shed storage shelves added the same wheel chock and grip tap on the floor of the table next is some side extensions and maybe a longer ramp
Bought mine December not on sale. Bottle Jack underneath the bench leaks hydraulic fluid badly. Contacted customer service last month with no response. Will keep trying. Also my wheel chock upgrade from Harbor Freight is the squeeze/crank type and works ok but yours is better design for secure fitment. The bench is a must for any enthusiast.
Thanks for the update. I got one of these and I plan on getting that chock to mod mine. The standard did suck and didn't really work. Side note, I think I saw your bike at New Bern HD a few years back.
Sweet deal dude. I just picked up a Daytona 3 ton low profile for my truck and was really happy. Was eyeing this for my Ninja and am now confident that it’ll be a good fit for my needs.
I bought this a couple years ago for $300. Added a good chock 60 grit sand paper strips to prevent slipping of the tires and I'm thinking of securing that rear plate for when I'm not removing it for rear wheel work. It has come up on me a couple times. Now, i have a gold wing and dont want to deal with that. Great lift for the money!
I believe that removable plate on the lift platform is to give you access to the hydraulic pump if there is a problem when the lift is in the down position, and you can't pump it up to otherwise access the jack.
Believe all you want but the owners manual and sales features say it allows you to drop rear wheel easy which it does. But yes it does allow easy access to the jack. Very well designed. Had one for 5 yrs. now for the 2002 Road King with no problems.
I got mine right after Christmas it was 480 plus tax with the 20 percent off. I also happen to have the black wheel chock I am debating installing it. Looking forward to using this puppy and it sure does look nice.
The black wheel chock makes all the difference in my opinion. It allows you to drive right up the ramp and lock the wheel. The one it comes with you need someone on the bike and someone tightening down the chock.
I’ve got an FXDWG that I’ve modified with raked front end. The front outside rubber to rear outside rubber is 10 feet. That being said...does the rear ramp have a way to lock in place as an extension? Thanks very much.
Does anyone know the length of the lift without ramp? I am thinking about storing it under a large 90" Gladiator steel utility rack, so I can roll it under and out to save space.. Thanks for the tip on using that bar to save the pump.
2012 electra glide front tire to wide for that chock? I just recently pucked one up used and was considering buying this chock for my lift. Its a standard tire.
Consider the new Harbor Freight clamp type chock. It isn't QUITE as convenient as this, but it absolutely secures the bike, and the front stop bar is removable so if you put the bike up, use a scissor jack and straps to secure it to the lift, you can then pull the front wheel off past the chock.
Yeah it's gone up a couple hundred bucks in the last 2 years. I just bought one for $550. Harbor freight doesn't do coupons anymore. You can pay to be a club member but that only gives you discounts on select items and not really worth it.
Guess I been out of the game to long… honestly I haven’t even bought tools in a minute I definitely bought mine at a parking lot sale and I wanna say it was around $300 I can’t believe that
I put my Goldwing on it just fine. I have the same wheel chock as in this video. When stop bar is in place you should take the pressure off the jack and let weight rest on the bar. I also mounted that wheel chock so a little bit hangs over the front of the table, but not far enough to have weight issues.
just got one a few months (3/2022) ago and yes paid almost $600 for it but in my eyes still a deal all the other lifts are thousands,, HF dont do the 20% coupon anymore they dont me ,, but I opened a HF Credit Card and got 10% off interest free,,love the lift a real back saver gets ya up off the floor it may not be a airlift but I don't need air I don't use it every day or make money with it,, I did buy a after market chock for it off ebay witch I have to buy a different one again cause I ride a 09 Indian chief with the fat fender and the one you have on your lift hits the fender when the lock pops up ,so im going to have to get a wheel vise ,,all and all it work with out breaking the bank
I think that would be almost impossible with those tiny casters. However, people HAVE upgraded the casters, and if you put in 1000 pound or more casters that were 3+ inches in diameter it should be possible.
Unfortunately I live in rip off Britain. Similar lift over here would cost in dollars about $1000. While we are at it fuel or gas you call it is about $10 a gallon. Value added tax is 20% of most sales.
Cruisers don't have exhaust running under the frame, for a crotch rocket you will need to put blocks on the lift so that it lifts on the frame and doesn't touch the pipes
@@dynademos had to ask.. what about that crash bar you had to take off to install that particular engine mount? I plan to go back to mid controls and add a bar so just checking..
mine the jack was busted and pissed all the fluid out new in the box. returned and all they gave me was 20 bucks to compensate my wasted time even know they will charge you 180 if you want them to ship it to you
@@dynademos Prices definitely went up the last few years. I'm working out of my garage at the moment, looking for a 2500 - 3000 sq ft building in Wisconsin. We buy and flip, clean them up, custom paint, add bars, chrome, wheels and regular maintenance. We have a location in Arkansas too, new shop is being built there now. We don't do customer bikes at all, we own everything and sell. Your video really sealed the deal as we had a used one in Arkansas, and just bought a new one for that shop as well.
@@ericplett3924 that’s awesome man I know there is a market for buying bikes on the east coast and selling em over here on the west. Glad my video could help u out a bit ! Ride safe 👍🏽
Putting a safety stop in is not to stop hydraulic seals from going bad. It's to stop cheap Chinese rams from bleeding down or failing and causing injury or damage. I've got multiple Southworth 4000 lb. scissor lifts in my shop and they don't move at all, even if I go away for 6 months. I leave the tables up all the time, so they've been under pressure for about 12 years. The one lift was probably 15 years old when I bought it. If I leave something heavy on my Harbor Fright engine hoist lifted a couple of feet overnight, it will be on the floor the next morning. I only own 2 Harbor Freight items - that engine hoist and a drywall lift. They are both absolute garbage.
So for a shop it doesn’t make sense to have one for someone who does their own work in the garage it’s definitely worth it if u can’t afford a 1000 dollar lift but I get what your saying
The jacks on these are pure garbage. Do yourself a favor and fab up a pnuematic jack or spend the money to buy a real quality lift. Ive owned mine for 4 years and its garbage. Buy a Titan or something comparable. Well worth the money.
I've had mine for years with no issues ... I love it. The first thing I did was get rid of that standard wheel vice too. Used the same Harbor freight Condor locking wheel chock too LOL. I drilled a few holes and added some eyelet bolts for some extra tie down spots ...

I like to buy one for my bike .....it'll be handy for all sorts of other things push mower generators whatever
Good video. You hit the important points.
I am wanting to do a rebuild on my Suzuki TL1000R but I don't want to spend a shit ton of money on a lift. This might do the job.
Great information, thank you.
Thanks for the video. Thank you too for your service brother
Great review & Semper Fi from an old Marine!

Did you just use 2 bolts to mount that chock to the lift?
I’ve got an FXDWG that I’ve modified with raked front end.
The front outside rubber to rear outside rubber is 10 feet.
That being said...does the rear ramp have a way to lock in place as an extension?
Thanks very much.
It does not you would have to rig something off. besides the it just hangs off the ramp.
In the event your bike is too long, you would put bike on lift, put scissor jack under frame and crank it to support, then raise the lift
Great review!
Excellent video, as always.
They have a Coupon up right now, just got it for $499, plus $15 off with my HF Credit card, and 0% for 12 months

with that big wheel chock, how do you do any work on the front wheel? Doesnt seem like you could easily remove the wheel like that?
Both cradles are removable. you can get to the front tire easily if you need to.

just got one a few months (3/2022) ago and yes paid almost $600 for it but in my eyes still a deal all the other lifts are thousands,, HF dont do the 20% coupon anymore they dont me ,, but I opened a HF Credit Card and got 10% off interest free,,love the lift a real back saver gets ya up off the floor it may not be a airlift but I don't need air I don't use it every day or make money with it,, I did buy a after market chock for it off ebay witch I have to buy a different one again cause I ride a 09 Indian chief with the fat fender and the one you have on your lift hits the fender when the lock pops up ,so im going to have to get a wheel vise ,,all and all it work with out breaking the bank
I can’t believe the price raised that much but yet an aftermarket chock or wheel vise is a must!
This weekend, everything in store os 30 % off
Yes sir
Can you move the stand with a bike on it for storage?
I think that would be almost impossible with those tiny casters. However, people HAVE upgraded the casters, and if you put in 1000 pound or more casters that were 3+ inches in diameter it should be possible.
Unfortunately I live in rip off Britain. Similar lift over here would cost in dollars about $1000. While we are at it fuel or gas you call it is about $10 a gallon. Value added tax is 20% of most sales.
I have a 2015 lift never used for $325
Sounds like a great deal! Where are you located at?
... You are selling correct? What is your general location?
.
Thanks.. Great Video. Question can it handled mine 2018 H-D Limited?
I don’t think it would have any issue I’ve put a roadglide on it before just make sure u use the metal stops provided
the scissor lift doesnt crunch your exhaust pipes or anything?
Nah just have to be careful when jacking up the bike make sure it doesn’t hit anything it shouldn’t
Cruisers don't have exhaust running under the frame, for a crotch rocket you will need to put blocks on the lift so that it lifts on the frame and doesn't touch the pipes
Hey Jarhead, Semper Fi.
SOY DE PUERTO RICO ME PUEDEN DECIR DONDE LO PUEDO COMPRAR GRACIAS

@@ericplett3924 I can’t believe it I know I paid around 300 maybe I just got really lucky. You run a shop is that why you got 2?
Can you lean it up against the wall sideways when it's completely collapsed?
its got wheels and bottom stuff and ppl said its heavy asf so probs not
Semper Fi!
Yoo go Hawks! I’m from Mukilteo!
Awesome
$650 after tax, probably still worth it since i own 2 motorcycles
yes sir, i’m sure you will get lots of use out of it
It was for people wondering
GO HAWKS!!!
Hell yeah!

$599.99 now😂
🤠👍🏻
👍💪🇦🇺💪
The jacks on these are pure garbage. Do yourself a favor and fab up a pnuematic jack or spend the money to buy a real quality lift. Ive owned mine for 4 years and its garbage. Buy a Titan or something comparable. Well worth the money.
"Imma" lol smh
Holy chicken strips .
