I work for American Honda and when we were doing new vehicle training, I was shocked by how small the SH-AWD made the car feel in corners. It certainly is the real deal.
I know that many are aware of this by now, but if not - but pretty much anywhere you go where there are comments about autos, you’ll notice an ignorant Troll who uses different handles, ie Norm C or Norm T, making asinine comments and trying to hype up a POS Dodge.
@@normt5463 All based on the trackpad setup. Many will actually prefer this. I know I do NOT want a touch screen of any kind. Mainly because the fingerprints and grease. I can't stand using a tablet at home more than 20 minutes as it gets all yucky and I am constantly rubbing my phone screen against my pants to clean it. I do think a rotary knob makes a bit more sense, but most that review the RDX setup say it's not hard to master and is much better than any touchscreen system. Sure beats anything GM or Ford offer.
Was it a 2020? Any change to the wheel design or more options on the advanced or the backup camera resolution? Hoping some small updates fix a few annoyances.
Just bought one and the touch pad actually makes sense once you've been using it for a while. The cooled seats could work better, but that sunroof is amazing. It was a great addition to the car family with the TSX Wagon and the Accord sport. Much better than the MDX it replaced.
Sai battu 2014... We got the first Advance from our dealership, wish I would have waited for the 2015 because there were a lot of first model year problems with the 2014

The RDX is a great, great car. We own the second generation that is babied-driven on the weekends to get groceries. We have the 6 cylinder w/ all wheel drive (just changed over to 6-cylinders away from the turbo) The next gen went back to a 4 cylinder w/ turbo. I think people don't realize how good this smaller SUV is. It has some juice w/ a lot of class. Very happy with our purchase. No issues. Decent fuel economy.
LOL I actually burst out laughing at the Beach Boys tamborine piece...priceless. And by the way, I pick my RDX up at the end of the month!! You guys have good taste. The touchpad is great as it keeps fingerprints off the screen! You guys complain about dust I thought you'd be all over this. But apparently not. Oh, and I clicked the notification bell. Don't let me down.
I just bought this car for my 30th Bday and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT! The seats are like sofas and the handling ohh my lord it's like having claws on the tires. This car is indeed almost perfect! Cheers to the buyers!
I have the A SPEC in that amazing blue and I love it! Gets lots of attention. I agree the navigation is not great but the touchpad is growing on me. I know where everything is where to touch immediately which is making it easier. I love the A SPEC steering wheel, even chunkier than the original. The seats are great and fun with the Alcantara inserts. Love the underfloor cargo space that frees up the cargo space with the stuff I keep in the car all the time. But the BEST thing and the reason I bought the car is the SHAWD as I love to throw it round a corner and makes it so sporty. I needed and SUV but also wanted something sporty and it definitely checks the boxes.

Acura not giving the adaptive suspension as an option for the aspec is baffling. I can’t stand the chrome on the elite. Just give me the option of blacking that out with that suspension and I’m happy.
Welcome back Acura! Excited to see how well they did this RDX. It only proves they’ll be focusing more on their models. The blue A-Spec is beautiful. Now waiting for the Type S they discussed during the RDX launch...
Finally, the review I have been waiting to see! I’ve had my RDX Advanced (same as Platinum Elite) for just over a month now. You guys actually nailed it in my humble opinion. My only points of disagreement are with the infotainment system and the knob for suspension selection. Infotainment takes some getting used to but it really is nice now that I know it. The real problem is with Apple Car Play. It does not operate like touch pad was designed. So, when you switch back and forth it can be irritating. This is Apple’s fault and they could fix it. Android Auto is coming but is delayed because it is being designed to work with the track pad. The suspension selector knob is fine where it is in the center. The fact that it’s centered and big speaks to their desire to draw attention to the way the vehicle drives and handles. I trade in my 2012 Range Rover Evoque. I loved that car but I love this one more and I saved quite a bit of money. Finally, my silver RDX came with the same wheels the car you tested had and I ended up changing them out for the 20” Black Diamond Cut wheels and it looks so much better. Now I have four brand new Acura Wheels and tires for sale if anyone is interested.... Your review was really spot on. I’m a little concerned that I was kinda searching for validation or approval from you two by way of this review. Had you panned it I would have sent you the bill from my therapist. Luckily, we’re all good.
2019 A-spec here. The transmission has S-mode which locks out gears 9 and 10 and lengthens the shift points which keeps the car from always hunting for the most optimal gear. MPG suffers a bit though. Also surprised you did not spend time on how much the car comes to life in Sport +. Better than a Audi Q5? Yes! Is it as good as a Macan S? No but its also way cheaper. Not sure there is much in the segment that gives you this much bang for the buck.
After a week on the road in Canada, I totally get the visor and small coffee cup test, they both are a must in this country. You should do the Nalgene 32 oz water bottle though. Our rental missed that one miserable.
Because of geographical location the sun reflects different - more sideways if I may - and for longer time than we are just to, by we I mean those who live closer to the equator. And those Horton's are everywhere. The smaller cup at Starbucks is taller than Horton's, so yes, I think is very specific of Canada. Love your country by the way (assuming you are Canadian).
Nice job Acura! A worthy contender to the Lexus NX300. Rdx wins in power and electronics. Lexus wins in luxury and interior quality and comfort. It's good to have options 😊
Not for me didn’t like it at first but once I got the a spec to lease I got used to it in a day and the shifter is really easy to use and almost takes no learning curve but those are such minor things that it’s kind of really petty but I see where your coming from
I saw one of these a few months ago and snapped a pic of those sick headlights and grill for my car gram. I've thought nothing of it since. Now knowing it's a new 2019 and all the features it has I'm kind of intrigued about it. Biggest turnoff is the center cluster/touchpad. The rest seems great!
Like the touch pad. Hate touch screens. Nothing but distractions. I would bet after you get used to that pad you prefer it to touchscreen and it becomes less of a distraction than you'd think. Vehicle looks great in every other way, pretty surprised at how nice it does seem. I do love Honda, but Acura has been lost on me for quite some time since the first gen TSX. Very nice vehicle!
The problem with putting the Accord infotainment in an Acura is they already used to do that and people complained that it felt like they were just driving another Honda product.
2019 advanced package here. Black on black. I love my car but you were spot on the infotainment and these daym tambourines!. I cannot complain about the handling or the comfort, but a little more thought could have gone into accessing the sub systems. I personally like hearing my music behind me and when I set the audio to rear speakers only, it reverts back to front mode once I've turned the engine. On another positive note, I found that I can have my tablet connected along with my phone and still use the navigation and listen to movies if I choose. I have driven across the country with this car and would not trade it for anything in this world.
I love the Canadian aspect this channel brings. Not only the prices mentioned but also familiar road conditions, knowing the places they visit, and the brands/trims represented. However I also know TH-cam is a global community, and I also would love for the guys to grow internationally so I'd be totally okay hearing the US converstion/similar trim price in the video. The only thing I'd ask is to always put Canadian pricing first! Lots of Canadian content creators were great at first and some even included Canadian and US pricing at one point, but then ignored their home roots market. I think one awesome reason to keep Canadian pricing in (while adding the conversion) is so Americans see how much they could be (in some cases) saving on buying a car here and shipping it back to the USA, even after taxes and duties 😁
Emilio Fernandez I am aware. I didn't say get rid of Canadian pricing, just to add USD. There's no denying a large part of the subscription base is American. What's the issue with trying to appease more viewers?
Ok I bought the top trim ( advance here in U.S. ) and after a month I can say: The audio system with 16 speakers is the best I have heard in a car. 4 of the speakers are in the ceiling. The ride is smooth and quiet. I bought white diamond with espresso leather and happy with it. List price was $48,300 and got it for $45,700. Seats are very comfortable. Loaded with all options and love the HUD display. Two things are not that good. The touch pad method really takes awhile to get use to and should be easier than it is. The second thing is the wheels on the top trim are ugly. I will be changing them out after the winter here in NY.
I think your title got it right, almost perfect. I’ll wait for the mid cycle update to purchase, want to see that driving mode dial replaced with a simple push button.

Everyone always talks about how great Toyota/Lexus cars are, but I believe that Honda/Acura cars are better. They are refined in so many ways. I actually drive a 2018 Honda Accord Sport 2.0 and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. When I am ready to get a new car, I will consider Acura first.
When I drive my Honda Prelude Type SH, I smile a little knowing that the tech that makes up ATTS carried on with Acura's SH-AWD on many of their cars and SUV's. Video looks great, and I envy you all that get to drive cliche corner!
Most of your reviews are EXCELLENT: informative, entertaining, and crazy-fun teamwork. RDX is one of the SUV got my attention at this moment (actually wife does), not crazy at all about the trackpad, I prefer function over form, so give me user-friendly over sexy looks or techie. So I totally agree with you guys and vote for Accord's infotainment instead. Have fun and keep up the good work.
@@hhinojosareef1 perhaps, but their reliability scores (multiple sites) continues to improve and currently is the best of the premium European brands, besting BMW, Mercedes, Volvo and the perennially unreliable brands Land Rover, Jaguar, Alfa-Romeo and Fiat.
I will never be able to unsee how the interior looks like a Ford focus, what's even more sad is that it looks like the Focus interior vents have more color seperation than the RDX's plain piano black vents :(
TubeHax This new RDX interior definitely looks better than the previous gen, but it still looks a little boring/ not that high quality. Maybe it's because regular car interiors are getting so good.

SH-AWD or Audi AWD quattro are pretty much vectoring based AWD and both are pretty good. One thing that many people omits to state is that vectoring only works IF you are pressing gas pedal and accelerating through the corner... if you let go of gas pedal, there is no vectoring but only simple awd and that is about it...
Audi does not offer torque vectoring in anything below 70k in their lineup. They all used brake actuated torque vectoring at this price point. Nothing comes close to Acura at this price. If its the S7 then yes you get get torque vectoring diffs
I think infotainment is the best and worst thing to happen to automobiles for reasons that are obvious on both sides. That said, when are automotive companies going to figure out that engineers should not be designing UX? For the first decade in a long time engineers are actually putting together affordable cars again, which is great, but keep them away from UX! Rant over.
The touch pad is wrong and needs to be replaced. A rotary knob and touch screen infotainment system is the way to go. Otherwise a good SUV overall, although I'm partial to German and North American designs. Lastly, you do get more bang for the buck with this RDX. Good review.
I just bought mine RDX 2019 brand new beautiful, love it, however ; in less than a week and less than 100 miles driven in the middle of driving to work suddenly all dashboard lights come out like Christmas trees and the vehicle starts to gasps to keep driving and slows down and all kind of instruction appears on the dashboard starts to appear Engine yellow lights, svc ,breaks , it scared the hell out of me so I take it to the dealer in Naperville ,Illinois and was checked for troubles and Mechanic put it on computer and said well it looks good to me and there is no code to show any problem So I drive out of the dealer in less than a mile and here the lights are on again all of them and more the breaks start to make noises too and I turned around back to the same dealer in Naperville Ill and said we will work on it next Monday and let you know what the manager of the store will do about this situation and I said I do not think a less than a week old brand new car should have these kinds of problems ? iam waiting for the Acura Continental action for this problem? I will keep you posted.Not satisfied customer ?? would you ????
U should've got the Mazda Cx5 instead.....way too much technology goin on in that thing. You're bound to have issues!! I drove in that same parking lot, changed my mind, and decided to drive further down to the Mazda dealer instead....right there in Naperville. Best decision ever.

Will Android Auto be available as an upgrade if you already own an RDX?
Acura did amazing on this. This might attract buyers from the luxury market, away from the q5, glc, and x3, especially for this price point.

The transmission has S-mode which locks out gears 9 and 10 and lengthens the shift points which keeps the car from always hunting for the most optimal gear. MPG suffers a bit though. Also surprised you did not spend time on how much the car comes to life in Sport +. Better than a Audi Q5? Yes! Is it as good as a Macan S? No but its also way cheaper. Not sure there is much in the segment that gives you this much bang for the buck.

After a week on the road in Canada, I totally get the visor and small coffee cup test, they both are a must in this country. You should do the Nalgene 32 oz water bottle though. Our rental missed that one miserable.
to be fair, I dont know of any cars that can hold a large water bottle.
I have no knowledge of any car having cup holder large enough for my Nalgene, it’s quite a large bottle
In my FJ Cruiser back at home I have no problem fitting both, the small cup and the Nalgene bottle.

Because of geographical location the sun reflects different - more sideways if I may - and for longer time than we are just to, by we I mean those who live closer to the equator. And those Horton's are everywhere. The smaller cup at Starbucks is taller than Horton's, so yes, I think is very specific of Canada. Love your country by the way (assuming you are Canadian).
Nice job Acura! A worthy contender to the Lexus NX300. Rdx wins in power and electronics. Lexus wins in luxury and interior quality and comfort. It's good to have options 😊

Not for me didn’t like it at first but once I got the a spec to lease I got used to it in a day and the shifter is really easy to use and almost takes no learning curve but those are such minor things that it’s kind of really petty but I see where your coming from

I have a RDX 2021 and love the touch pad (no more smudged screens). But miss the instant passing power of my old 6 cylinder RDX. Love my new interior.
I think it has the most attractive and futuristic interior design in the segment. I like it a lot. Exterior is nice as well.
I saw one of these a few months ago and snapped a pic of those sick headlights and grill for my car gram. I've thought nothing of it since. Now knowing it's a new 2019 and all the features it has I'm kind of intrigued about it. Biggest turnoff is the center cluster/touchpad. The rest seems great!
Oh the one I saw earlier was a 2018 MDX. From the front MDX and RDX look VERY similar now.

Like the touch pad. Hate touch screens. Nothing but distractions. I would bet after you get used to that pad you prefer it to touchscreen and it becomes less of a distraction than you'd think.
Vehicle looks great in every other way, pretty surprised at how nice it does seem. I do love Honda, but Acura has been lost on me for quite some time since the first gen TSX. Very nice vehicle!

The problem with putting the Accord infotainment in an Acura is they already used to do that and people complained that it felt like they were just driving another Honda product.

2019 advanced package here. Black on black. I love my car but you were spot on the infotainment and these daym tambourines!. I cannot complain about the handling or the comfort, but a little more thought could have gone into accessing the sub systems. I personally like hearing my music behind me and when I set the audio to rear speakers only, it reverts back to front mode once I've turned the engine. On another positive note, I found that I can have my tablet connected along with my phone and still use the navigation and listen to movies if I choose. I have driven across the country with this car and would not trade it for anything in this world.

I love the Canadian aspect this channel brings. Not only the prices mentioned but also familiar road conditions, knowing the places they visit, and the brands/trims represented. However I also know TH-cam is a global community, and I also would love for the guys to grow internationally so I'd be totally okay hearing the US converstion/similar trim price in the video. The only thing I'd ask is to always put Canadian pricing first! Lots of Canadian content creators were great at first and some even included Canadian and US pricing at one point, but then ignored their home roots market. I think one awesome reason to keep Canadian pricing in (while adding the conversion) is so Americans see how much they could be (in some cases) saving on buying a car here and shipping it back to the USA, even after taxes and duties 😁

Ok I bought the top trim ( advance here in U.S. ) and after a month I can say:
The audio system with 16 speakers is the best I have heard in a car. 4 of the speakers are in the ceiling. The ride is smooth and quiet. I bought white diamond with espresso leather and happy with it. List price was $48,300 and got it for $45,700. Seats are very comfortable. Loaded with all options and love the HUD display. Two things are not that good. The touch pad method really takes awhile to get use to and should be easier than it is. The second thing is the wheels on the top trim are ugly. I will be changing them out after the winter here in NY.

Everyone always talks about how great Toyota/Lexus cars are, but I believe that Honda/Acura cars are better. They are refined in so many ways. I actually drive a 2018 Honda Accord Sport 2.0 and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. When I am ready to get a new car, I will consider Acura first.

When I drive my Honda Prelude Type SH, I smile a little knowing that the tech that makes up ATTS carried on with Acura's SH-AWD on many of their cars and SUV's. Video looks great, and I envy you all that get to drive cliche corner!

RDX is one of the SUV got my attention at this moment (actually wife does), not crazy at all about the trackpad, I prefer function over form, so give me user-friendly over sexy looks or techie. The Focus looks economy. The RDX looks much better and better materials.

SH-AWD or Audi AWD quattro are pretty much vectoring based AWD and both are pretty good.
One thing that many people omits to state is that vectoring only works IF you are pressing gas pedal and accelerating through the corner... if you let go of gas pedal, there is no vectoring but only simple awd and that is about it...
Audi does not offer torque vectoring in anything below 70k in their lineup. They all used brake actuated torque vectoring at this price point. Nothing comes close to Acura at this price. If its the S7 then yes you get get torque vectoring diffs

I think infotainment is the best and worst thing to happen to automobiles for reasons that are obvious on both sides. That said, when are automotive companies going to figure out that engineers should not be designing UX? For the first decade in a long time engineers are actually putting together affordable cars again, which is great, but keep them away from UX! Rant over.
The touch pad is wrong and needs to be replaced. A rotary knob and touch screen infotainment system is the way to go. Otherwise a good SUV overall, although I'm partial to German and North American designs. Lastly, you do get more bang for the buck with this RDX. Good review.

My wife bought an RDX and I bought an Alfa Romeo stelvio she returned the RDX and bought a stelio for herself within two weeks
I just bought mine RDX 2019 brand new beautiful, love it, however ; in less than a week and less than 100 miles driven in the middle of driving to work suddenly all dashboard lights come out like Christmas trees and the vehicle starts to gasps to keep driving and slows down and all kind of instruction appears on the dashboard starts to appear Engine yellow lights, svc ,breaks , it scared the hell out of me so I take it to the dealer in Naperville ,Illinois and was checked for troubles and Mechanic put it on computer and said well it looks good to me and there is no code to show any problem So I drive out of the dealer in less than a mile and here the lights are on again all of them and more the breaks start to make noises too and I turned around back to the same dealer in Naperville Ill and said we will work on it next Monday and let you know what the manager of the store will do about this situation and I said I do not think a less than a week old brand new car should have these kinds of problems ? iam waiting for the Acura Continental action for this problem? I will keep you posted.Not satisfied customer ?? would you ????

U should've got the Mazda Cx5 instead.....way too much technology goin on in that thing. You're bound to have issues!! I drove in that same parking lot, changed my mind, and decided to drive further down to the Mazda dealer instead....right there in Naperville. Best decision ever.
