I have had my 2019 RDX for 8 months and love it. I chose the “Advance” trim over the “A-spec” because it gave me HUD display and adaptive dampers. Also preferred the wheels and the interior with the wood trim.
Thank you for the review! I recently bought the 2020 RDX based on this review! My other choice would have been the Tesla model 3. The RDX just hits every box that we were looking for in a vehicle especially with a kid on the way! I tried to convince the wife on red seats like you suggested, but got denied! One thing no one has mentioned in any reviews is that at nighttime, when the LEDs are shining, the alcantara holes give off a glittery shine which is a really classy!

Acura makes really nice vehicles. My ex gf had a brand new 2012 TSX white with black interior, was a really sharp car and never gave an ounce of trouble.
I am big fan of RDX over other luxury SUV’s , this 2019 design is much better that previous versions. I literally love it.

Hi just wanted to know how are the breaks and how is the fuel economy....I commute back and forth in California traffic 52 miles daily do u think this is a bad selection for me
Ot82 sunshine I’m in LOVE with this car. The breaks are wonderful and the safety features are great. I’ve always had smaller cars so as far as the fuel economy, naturally it doesn’t feel as economic lol. But it’s the best car I’ve ever had, hands down.
Mick Cripzzz the brakes are wonderful. Zero complaints on this car.

The RDX A-spec is seriously one attractive crossover. Probably one of the best looking if I'm being honest. I love the direction Acura is heading in, and with a teaser of a Type S concept being brought to Monterey in a few weeks, it's seriously looking promising after some pretty blah years.
If I didn't have a Type R? I would probably consider this, not going to lie. It probably would do everything I need.

Ridikuluzt Just 3 days into the drive but I have not experienced any transmission issues so far. Love the ride! However, there is a systems update that I am unable to download and install with an error code 57 D. There is a thread on reddit about this if you want to read

I test drove the A Spec and it was honestly fantastic. Power was very, very smooth and body motions were well controlled. We were planning on buying one but decided against it after reading many owner reviews complaining about transmission issues (mostly to do with rough shifts and sudden power on 1st gear) and infotainment glitches. It's a real shame because it really made a memorable first impression.

Didn't experience it either during the test drive, but on forums like Car and Driver where owners can post their own reviews, several have noted a rough transmission. Their experience is definitely a lot more valuable and accurate than mine.

I’m watching this review because I’m a car sales guy and one of these just arrived at our lot. Man this thing is luxurious! In my opinion it’s too much car for our asking price ($35k) the pano sunroof, alcantara and suede interior really surprised me

Even Car & Driver called the Aspec more Bspec or Cspec. It is just average and nothing special as Honda was late to the compact SUV with 2.0T

@@paulsalvo235 fuel economy was much worse for the 2 3t vs the V6 replacement. The engine top mounted intercooler was not ideal for consistent power.

That was 2007 and GM already built a 2006 2.0T with direct injection with 295 lb-ft of torque but GM factory tuned to 340 horsepower. It took Honda until 2018 to introduce a 2.0T.

Great review, but only the Advance Package will provide you the 16-way power seats. The A-Spec and Technology Packages will give you the 12-way power seats.

I'm not sure I've heard you praise a vehicle more than you did with this RDX A-Spec. Maybe, just maybe you praised the WRX STi Type RA more, but you bought that car. My parents bought this exact RDX spec'd exactly as you showed last summer. They love it!
I guess it is all because of how it blew away my expectations. I am not really an SUV guy but I could see myself driving this one! I do love my Type RA.

A nice review! Some things I noticed:
- Acura’s sales have been declining and the brand kind of lost its self. However, last year their leadership admitted the performance aspect of Acura was lost. So the return of the Type S is returning (possibly the RDX but more likely the TLX and MDX). He also stated moving forward: if it feels like metal or looks like metal- it is. Quality is supposed to be better moving forward.
- the “Advance Package” is the highest trim.
- SH-AWD isn’t technically new. Yes it did return, however the first generation was a turbo SH-AWD. It’s funny because Acura was ahead of the pack the first time.
- The RDX is a great deal and is a great vehicle. Good review though. Sorry if it seems I’m picky, just a fan of Acura and owner of a RDX and TL.
What are your thoughts on the transmission issues.
@@gnicks2995 I haven’t heard of any one having issues with the 10 speed auto. I checked Consumer Reports a few months ago and didn’t see anything listed. I’ve heard some people aren’t huge fans of the 9speed auto in the Pilot and Passport.

@@edwardvalivonis23 Acura is specifically designed in the US with Honda engineering. Pretty much, Honda's performance premium division is in the US. While the Honda performance is in Japan. It's the same company.

Great review Joe. Appreciate your passion and enthusiasm. I originally thought this was going to be my car. But the consumer reviews on Edmunds are not at all positive on the infotainment system. I also like the Volvo XC60 but it's infotainment is also getting slammed. Looking forward to the new Lincoln Corsair.

May I suggest lowering the volume or cleaning up the exhaust sounds as they come out garbled from the intro video, it can be a bit jarring. Thank you as always!
The price point on this even for a loaded model is great.
Just a suggestion, maybe take your gear out and put it on the ground or in the front seats so we can see the full cargo area without anything in the way. Nice review!!

This is by far way better than the 3 row mdx and the competition. Also it has the best infotainment system out of Acura's line up

I did a test drive on the RDX 2 months ago when I was doing my car shopping but went on a different direction got a sport sedan instead (different brand)....its a very nice SUV, liked the performance power delivery. The only zonk for me is the infotainment system a little bit of laggy compared to the other premium brands.

@@atmartens my test drive experience the system actually crash while trying to connect/pair my phone. Restarted the RDX got my phone connected (took awhile), so moving one app to another the system seems to froze or have a delay. So I said I'll just try again when the 2020 model year comes out maybe the bugs have been worked out.
ammomeister that’s interesting. I wonder if it was that particular unit or the combo of your phone and unit not working. I didn’t have that experience on my iPhone.

no n yes it’s hot, my buddy owns one! I definitely like it a lot. and yes acura’s rdx technology is super good compared to the rest of the outdated tech in infiniti and acura. the only two luxury brands behind on tech.
i love infiniti’s power though, when i raced the aspec tlx i really blew it by almost 2 car lengths! if the rdx comes with a v6 later i’m definitely definitely buying over any infiniti

Have no interest in SUV's but drove the RDX as a loaner and was very impressed. Great acceleration, shifting, very little body roll
Still, you knew you were driving an SUV sized vehicle and gas mileage was only 22 MPG.
The only SUV I might consider buying.

Have you had any reliability issues? Does this turbo engine have the oil dilution issues like hondas 1.5liter engines?
Put a normally aspirated V6 in it,and I’d take a serious look.

I bought the Cx-5 because I couldn't afford this RDx. Rdx definitely top of the line and best SUV in the market right now. Lexus,BMW,Mercedes, and all other luxury SUVs are no match for this Acura.

Love the RDX but went with Rav4 hybrid as fuel economy is nearly double in the Rav4. And turbo engines just don't last as long as naturally aspirated engines. Otherwise solid SUV!
James which one did you choose? I got a RAV4 XSE Hybrid!!!!!! 45-55 mpg since I do a lot of driving!
It is between the Aspec RDX and RAV4 limited hybrid for me. I love the RDX, but the gas mileage is huge for me and a fully loaded Rav4 is about 10k cheaper as well. The RDX looks and feels better and is more fun to drive though. Tough decision.
Barbara Lotsoff I suggest the RAV4 the fuel economy is really more important to me and most people. Besides, I think the RAV4 is a better value since it’s cheaper and it’s fuel economy makes it a big deal for me. If you want one get on the waiting list since a lot of people are waiting for theirs, a few of my friends have been waiting over 1-2 months now for the car. It definitely is worth the wait!
You only live once. Go with what you really will enjoy! It was RDX for me after test driving both. The RAV4 was just too small and the ride wasn’t as fun. But hey gas mileage is always a factor and the RAV4 redesign is pretty cool looking too.

Sorry have a 2017 and love the stick shift not the push button dial and when you spill your drink on the little pad what is the cost of repair on that, I’m sure it will be in the large hundreds if not a thousand plus. Also like the V-6 versus the twin turbo 4, cost to repair in 7-9 years will make the car a junk yard candidate. The electronics in cars these days is over the top that will be a major money maker for the dealer/manufacturer.

Love my 2016, it’s my 2nd RDX. I don’t like the new A Spec and I’ll never buy a turbo. My 2016 V6 gets better mileage. What’s all the crap on the front bumper, hate the fake vents. Don’t like the dark wheels, they look dirty. One positive thing, they finally improved the interior. I’ll keep driving my 2016.
Not to so Acura is realbile today but your 2016 is a better vehicle than 2019.

Hi Laurie! Those reviews are for spreadshirt in general. If you re looking for a shirt Lori & I wear fitted-poly by Next Level. They fit wheel and last long.
Navigation system has a lot of prblems, brakes are weird and make loud noises. Stay away until they figure out these issues.
Louis Win I purchased a 2019 RDX Advance and there have been horrible glitches with the infotainment and electrical issues. My car is only three months old and the headaches with the electrical issues are outweighing my enjoyment of the vehicle. The ride is everything! But, at this time Acura is waiting on a fix. There is no definite date for this fix. I've been a loyal Honda customer and this is my third purchase. What a nightmare. Acura/Honda this ain't right....
Nice review. But can you tell me does it have Android auto and Apple CarPlay? Also the track pad, u mention is easy to navigate but how easy for you to type in Address like gps?
There is android auto and it is very easy to us.

No sliding or reclining rear seat like the Envision a d QX50 has on any trim level for RDX. No tri-zone climate either.
You need to wake it up! Drop a non-California Hondata tune, sprint booster in race mode and K&N filter in this car and it drives like a beast. This is my wife's car - after 2 hours of installing the mods she took it to the gym. She came back and said "it's too fast, it feels dangerous, I don't feel safe!" My son and I were cracking up...I was laughing my a#@ off and said no of course, she go used to it. Now she likes to sh*t on the Mercedes, BMW and Infiniti's when she has a chance. I created a monster!

The rdx has a problem with the display screen going blank for no reason....check online and there seems to be no solution to fix this problem...just beware for you purchase one

Wait, the A-Spec is not the top trim level, that would be the Advanced package. Also, it's interesting you did not find the brake too plush to step on...? I own one, but do not mind it. I have gotten used to it, but it definitely should have been mentioned how plush the brakes are to step on.

They should of did a dual clutch transmission in this and it would of be perfect!

Looks good...but when I heard the engine size I'll pass. Rather spend alot more and get a high performance suv and have fun.
