You should avoid un-banked high speed corners or s-bends like the plague to avoid high lateral G's (2g or more). The peaks of hills should be slow so that the negative vertical G's are below 1g. Also, corkscrews and other inversions have an optimum speed for stats. Each coaster type and train type has different stats for the same track layout and speed. You need to tailor the track to the type and train. If your G's are too high, try reducing the train length or changing the train type. Use the G-force graphs to tell you which part of the track has the high G-forces. You can reduce the height of the first drop to lower the speed throughout the ride if too fast. Also, guests can be fatigued if the ride is fast and intense for too long - you need a mix of slow and fast, high G and no G's, straight and turning sections. This is especially true on coasters over 4000ft, except the hyper and giga coasters with comfortable lap bar restraints. Lots of excitement can be added by interactions with paths and other ride tracks and scenery. Some rides benefit massively by having "head chopper" effect - where the track goes just under a path or another track. Duelling tracks running parallel next to each other also adds a lot of excitement. I got a mini steel coster from 5.7 up to 7.0 excitement just by having lots of interactions with rollercoasters added later, and adding a few water fountains in and around a section above water. Suspended coasters gain excitement by going over water. Tunnels you already mentioned help too. Also, your train goes into the station at high speed, which could cause a crash if the station brakes fail. While there are scenarios where people ride intense rides of over 10 intensity, these are not common, and most people like between 4 and 6 intensity. The ideal stat for most scenarios would be 5 intensity, 10 or more excitement, 0 nausea, this is probably impossible to achieve, but it's something to aim for. Someone said raising the lift hill speed helps, but I found the low speed is better as it builds anticipation and increases the contrast between fast and slow. The queue shown here is way too long. It should be no longer than the ride's total capacity; 1 path square = 4 people. Anyone stuck in a queue is someone who could be spending money elsewhere in the park, so you're limiting your income by doing long queues.

You made some good suggestions but i have to disagree with some of them. The peaks of hills don't always need to be slow, the more times your coaster goes slow drops the average speed which in turn lowers excitement rating, having a higher average speed is better, but having a variety of slow and faster hill peaks is best. Tunnels are fantastic too but should be noted they increase intensity also. Changing the lift hill speed might affect the excitement just barely but usually not worth it because it increases intensity. Guests have no problem waiting in queues, they get slowly more impatient the longer they are waiting as seen by their happiness meter until around 10 minutes where they leave the queue but adding queue tv increases their waiting patience by 2 minutes and so does an entertainer. Overall queues are fantastic at soaking up guests so you don't have over crowding problems. I aim for queue's with a wait time of 6-8 minutes with some tv's. Also I couple things to add, you can reset the ride a few different ways so that the coaster has to go through the track again to recalculate the stats and this is always give more excitement from the added scenery then to just add the scenery and watch the stats go up with the coaster running, only downside to this is it will recalculate the intensity too. Most coasters can gain anywhere from 1.5 too 3.5 points in excitement from everything not counting synchronized stations with adds roughly 0.30.

A lot depends on the type of track and train cars. Lap bar trains have the most excitement and least intensity and nausea, RCT2 evn shows you the % bonus for certain train types! RCT1 never had that. Those lap bar types have a lot more tolerance for fast hill peaks. Hyper twister trains, hyper coaster and giga coaster trains can take a lot of abuse, and so can some of the wooden ones. Fast hill peaks on an inverted coaster or a stand up coaster will push the intensity to 10 easily. Look at Chris Sawyer's designs - he knew all of the design parameters and put them into practice, and they not only have good stats, they look great and are usually quite realistic. There's an official water coaster track in RCT1 LL that has a massive drop followed by one up bend and a bend to horizontal followed by water; although the negative G is high, it's only for a very short time, and the train slows down on the splash, and it's hard to make a water coaster too intense, so he gets away with it. There's lots of exceptions like that.

Holy crap, I've been playing RCT all my life, and I've never heard the terms "Family" and "B&M" as describing roller coaster styles. But it makes sense. Mind blown!

Nothing big but, the batwing is actually a bowtie because it exits the same direction it enters

Hey I only just realised now but what you called a "batwing" is actually a "bowtie" since it ends wiht the train keeping the same direction, a batwing would have the second corkscrew half going the other way. Other than that, very helpful tutorial that both helps make a coaster more exciting and also visually more pleasing!

Yeah, I made a dueling set of corkscrewcoasters partially inspired by this video:

It's possible to get higher excitement ratings with mini, junior, and spiral coasters, it just takes more work.

You didnt mention this but increasing the lift hill speed can increase excitement as it raises the average speed of the coaster which is part of the algorithm.

Only stupid thing about corkscrew coasters is that you cannot bank your upward or downward turns. 9.30 is a pretty high intensity rating, some scarybary's won't ride it.

Not sure that you should want the intensity as high as possible under ten. I would say anything under 9 would be acceptable

Hey, i just read this reply. Thanks for the follow-up info. I really appreciate that you looked into the situation regarding excitement/intensity ratings. With RCT being one of my favorite video games of all time, i also really appreciate your avid interest in it and I find it amazing that you are still enjoying it hopefully as much as i did. I will be sure to check out the discord link you sent me, have a great day.
