Nancy is a dynamic ans straight forward lady who has taken on risks and adventures that all but a very small few would not only shy away from, but run for their lives. So listen to what Nancy has to say about how "Fear" impacts every facet of our lives. Nancy has faced it and overcome it. Maybe we should listen to what she has to say! I know I will. F Thomas

Thanks Nancy! You reminded me of this Terence McKenna quote!
“Nature loves courage. You make the commitment and nature will respond to that commitment by removing impossible obstacles. Dream the impossible dream and the world will not grind you under, it will lift you up. This is the trick. This is the shamanic dance in the waterfall. This is how magic is done. By hurling yourself into the abyss and discovering its a feather bed.”

Awesome - Nancy and her family have inspired many to take a leap of faith; to jump out of their comfort zone, and to reach for the stars that represent their dreams. I've loved following their journeys and embarking on my own too.

Nancy your talk proves that we have nothing to fear when it comes to pursuing our dreams. I've always wanted to pedal cross-country, but I felt I could not because of financial constraints, or could it be something else I'm afraid of that I loathe to admit? You and your family are such an inspiration!

I first heard of their journey on a podcast, and then followed them to one end of the Earth. :) I love adventurous travel, and something about their story really hit home, but have yet to act on it. Watching this presentation reinspires my itch for something to do with my family.

Good job Nancy! Such truth! I was so afraid last fall when we began the 500 mi. walk from St.Jean-Pied-de-Port, France, through the Pyrenees, and across northern Spain to Santiago de Compostela. Right in the beginning, i wanted to quit. In the Pyrenees the weather deteriorated, could not see well, the trail was slick and very steep, my knees hurt. My husband told me to "change my attitude"! So, I put 1 foot in front of the other. 38 days later of just doing that, I made it to Santiago. Thanks.

Yay Nancy! Excellent talk and thank goodness you and the boys didn't have to sleep on a corner in Bogota :D What would I do if I weren't afraid? I've already started to face the fear and begin the journey to living my dream. Turns out, my husband loves the dream, too and is willing to do what he can to make sure we can both live it. Thanks Nancy!

LOL. I must admit I was wondering about that emergency, but u know, u always worry about your kids being safe above all else. There's lots of info online about their trip, like The Guardian's article where Nancy mentions how they nearly run out of food in a very long desolate stretch.. No doubt on this 3 yr journey a number of problems had to be dealt with.

i know it's just an example, but.. what is at stake when failing a family bike-adventure?! how can you fail? your life would be over or what? if everyone's fear would be sooo trivial, it would be just wonderful!

It's funny to see the trappings of the modern protestant sermon in this, an overly dramatic retelling of an exotic and not particularly harrowing experience. Lady, you had your family. Come sit in my shoes.
That's why I agree with the message. Faith is an incredible attribute. I have faith that one day my troubles will be so small that I will nearly become temporarily without lodging for a night while with my close-knit family on the adventure of a lifetime

She needs to work on her vocal pitch. It's high and shrill, which makes it hard to listen to her. Plus, the message is rather shallow.

Ms. Vogel, "What Would You Do if You Weren't So Rude?"
If you want to go after people, expect the same in return. Shared on Facebook, Google+ and wherever else you pass off your nastiness disguised as "motivation." I'm not the only one that feels that way. Just one of the few that has experienced the "other you." Not a pleasant or pretty sight. Don't do it again.
