    Pretty much everyone has seen one or two videos about common mistakes in smash, like rolling to much or always picking the same options or not paying attention to your opponent or whatever, but at a certain skill level pretty much everyone has eliminated those beginner habits, so learning how to punish things like excessive rolling or double jumping isn’t really what I want to talk about here.
    Instead I want to focus on how to exploit the psychology and habits of truly good players, and hopefully lead you guys in the right direction of trying to improve the more subtle mental aspects of your game.

      @Lucas Schnick yeah i go to a pretty good amount of tournaments. Haven’t been to one in a few weeks since I’ve been busy, but I’ve got a monthly in NYC on Saturday and I’m getting my flight and stuff ready for dreamhack Atlanta. But glad to hear it! I’ll be streaming tomorrow afternoon on YT if you want to stop by and learn some samus stuff

    Dr Jay how do I stop charging the charge shot without jumping or shielding?

    • @Dr.Jay.
      @Dr.Jay.  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Only other ways would be spot dodging, rolling, airdodging, letting it charge to full, or shooting it.

      @@Dr.Jay. i watch Jokers Samus and he stands still and just stops charging and pickin it up again 🤔

    • @Dr.Jay.
      @Dr.Jay.  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @aalkaline that’s just pressing and letting go of shield really quickly and going back to charging. Haven’t seen much of joker but I imagine that’s what it is.

    Who misses the time when full charge and side b was a guaranteed shield break?

    ive always wondered, do you like consciously see your opponent do something and think "lemme *something specific*" or does most of it come subconsciously

      @Darth Gaming at first it’s conscious, after a while of getting stuff in muscle memory and being able to instantly recognize flowchart situations it becomes natural to an extent. Some people have a better instinct for it especially if they’ve played other smash games a lot and experience certainly helps, but the high level players that consistently get good reads are always consciously thinking about it.

    sorry to bother you Dr. Jay, but ive got a question. so there is this incredibly toxic bowser main at my school and i rlly wanna put him in his place, but i dont have a good matchup. im a samus main. any tips for a bowser matchup?

    • @Dr.Jay.
      @Dr.Jay.  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Darth Gaming Samus is at the very worst even with bowser, and imo pretty darn good in that matchup. Just don’t let him take you to fd (no platforms means you can’t abuse your combos and strings). If you keep him out with charge shot, f tilt, and zair you win neutral, and samus has incredible combos vs bowser (for example down throw at low percent into dash forward up air into imagination). The big threats are his up b at close range, his side b at high percents, and I guess his fair and fire (at low percent does crazy damage). All of them lose to zair or tether grab. Also just in general up air completely messes bowser up it’s the holy grail for combos in that matchup
