  • EPISODE 4
We spent a glorious three days in the beautiful Knysna area. Please come and explore with us from forest to sea and exhilarating activities to simple peaceful relaxation... We did it all! 😀
We show you all in four videos:
Episode 1: The trip from Cape Town to the Diepwalle Forest Station where we claim our camping deck spot emerged in the forest. We also visit and admire the spectacular King Edward VII Big Tree.
Episode 2: Camping at the camping decks at Diepwalle Forest Station and visiting the extraordinary Forest Legends Museum - there is an exhibit there that you would not want to miss!
Episode 3: This may be the most adrenalin rushing video we've ever made for BRC! We take on the Knysna Ziplines over a 200m deep gorge in Harkerville (not once, but four times!) and also visit The Garden of Eden and Noetzie before arriving at our Knysna tiny house for the first of two nights... Lovely!
Episode 4: We visit the Wild Oats Community Farmer's Market and beautiful Gericke's Point in Sedgefield before exploring the Old Main Library in Knysna, the Knysna Waterfront and lastly the iconic Knysna Heads. It was indeed sad for this lovely trip to come to an end...
    Thanks for watching! :-D

    Good evening Annelie and Werner,
Knysna is a wonderful place, very special for us during our trip to South Africa in September 2006. One of our favorite places (along with Prince Albert). Cape Town is a beautiful city but we have (had) a particular attraction to smaller cities. I was particularly moved to watch these four episodes, especially the fourth. THANKS a lot.
    Marc

Hi Marc, your comments are very special! So glad that you loved the 4th episode 🙂 This Knysna trip had many highlights, but we also realise that there are still so much to see in the area... We'll have to go back for more... 😀 Fully agreed, Prince Albert is a beautiful little town next to the Swartberge, BRC is planning a trip to that area for late Dec this year... 😉 All the best!

@@backroadchronicles I would patiently await your trip to Prince Albert via Swartberg Col (with your dog, perhaps). Thanks to you two.

Thank you for the lovely videos of the Knysna area. It is just the tip of the iceberg in the Garden Route. There is so much to see and information to share about the area. It was nice that you touched on the history of the area. Next time, Tsitsikamma - Natures Valley and Plettenberg Bay? It would be great to see drone footage as you hike the Robberg Reserve.

Hi Dean, thank you so much for your wonderful comments, and of course the good suggestions! We agree, we've only covered the tip of the iceberg, our biggest challenge on this trip was to decide what we will not go and see 🤣. Tsitsikamma, P;et and Robberg are all most definitely on the BRC todo list! Your interest in our channel is very much appreciated... 🙂

What stunning scenery and such a fun adventure walking to the island at low tide. I can relate to you Annelie about being in nature with sound and smells.
The market was awesome indeed l would have paid plenty for a bucket of those magnificent proteas.
Loved the sand stone buildings in Knysna all those libraries. The water front delightful to stroll along.
The heads with the amazing cliffs and raged rocks too beautiful as was the sights from the view points and finally the drone footage fabulous indeed.
Another WOW weekend guys thanks for sharing Jane

Hi Jane, thanks for your wonderful comments! 😀 It looks like you've enjoyed all the different parts of the video 🙏 This is a special video to us, there were just so many beautiful things to show, we were spoilt for choice! We think you will also like the new two part series that will start this coming Sunday 😉 We really appreciate your support all the way from Australia 🇦🇺🙂

This was an incredibly wonderful - and quite an ‘emotionally engaging’ experience (it drew tears to my eyes).
It was all so beautifully choreographed and edited Werner (excellent piloting of Gogga) and your music choices were spot-on, Annelie!
I do not think any words I can string together could even get close to doing justice to your amazing “production”. I cannot begin to express all the feelings I had whilst being fully immersed in each of the moments you captured and shared so graciously with us.
Suffice to say, I loved every minute of this episode and the whole series! Thank you 🙏🏻
PS I’m so happy to see your numbers steadily growing 🙌🏻
My wish is that your channel is soon going to 💥 and get the recognition it deserves! I check regularly and take my self appointed record keeping very seriously 😁
See how successfully you have wormed yourselves into my heart 🫶🏻

Hi Des, hope you are still doing well 🙂 Thanks for the compliments, but I think when it is so naturally beautiful, it becomes much simpler to make a good video 😀 I agree though, it was beautiful, and loved that you felt emotionally engaged (wow, what a compliment!), not that we like to be the cause of you crying of course!
This was indeed a special series for us, and it is somewhat sad for it to come to an end... We have big plans though on our next few trips, so rest assured that more will be coming 🙂
Thanks for checking the numbers 😀 Indeed, we are pinching ourselves, did you see we are almost at 600 subscribers? Who would have thought that 10 months into the channel... 🫨
You will be happy to know that in the trip we've just returned from that both Mia and Frikkie joined us - that is a first for a BRC series... I again have about 7 hours of footage, but this time it will really just be two videos. We will have to skip the coming Sunday though as I need some time to prep the first cuts of the two videos, but you can be sure that the 1st episode will be posted the following Sunday... 😀
Thanks for being such a super fan, you will have no idea how much this is encouraging us. Kindest regards, Werner

Thanks M (wish I knew your name...), we really appreciate your wonderful comments and for following our channel. 🙂 Yes, maybe it is hard work, but we've discussed just today again that taking the footage and putting it in a video forces one to look and experience things quite differently. Nevertheless, this is not work, we love just love it! 😀. Apologies for the late reply, we've just returned from another wonderful BRC trip seeing that it is a long weekend in SA... All the best!

    Hey guys ❤
I also sent you an email by the way so please be on the lookout for it 😊
Firstly Happy Father's Day Werner! I'm sure Ruben and Mia are very glad to have you as their dad- I hope you've been spoilt 🤗
This has to be one of my favourite videos you've ever done! I can't explain why, but all the spectacular footage and accompanying music made me quite teary eyed. It's like it took me back to my little trip and I got to see everything I loved all over again!
Also, thank you so much for the little shout out to my mom and I- you have no idea how much that made us both smile this afternoon 😊❤
I was so so lucky to go on the Featherbed Nature Reserve experience which included the most exquisite hike all the way down to those caves Annelie pointed out! It remains a highlight of my life, and I highly recommend it to anyone 😊
If you ever go out that way again, be sure to visit Thesen Island. It's a stone's throw away from the Knysna waterfront, and is charming. I did kayaking around the island, and a visit to the Seahorse Reserve is well worth it!
I'm also so glad you got to experience the Wild Oats Market in Sedgefield! I also absolutely loved it there, and I wish I had sampled more of the food there 😅 There's so much to choose from!
This Knysna Series will always hold a special place in my heart, and I want to thank you both so much for these wonderful videos ❤
Warmest regards to you both from mom and I ❤️

I have so loved reading your beautiful comment and felt so happy when Werner mentioned you both! It truly was a superb episode and I was surprised to hear you also shed a few tears. I was equally surprised by my own tears!
You clearly had a most amazing Knysna trip with a rich store of vivid memories to last a lifetime - I hope you get to visit again someday ❤

@@desh7120 Hi Des! Thank you so much for your kind comment.
I agree with your sentiments that this episode had an emotional element to it which was somehow moving.
I'm not sure if it was the pairing of the magnificent footage and well chosen music, or my own personal connection to Knysna, but there was a palpable emotion to this episode and we really enjoyed seeing it.
I hope this finds you well, fellow super fan 😉

Hi Kate! Apologies for the very late reply, we were on a lovely BRC trip this weekend and only returned today. We had no cell phone reception where we stayed (maybe hinting at how special our location was 😉), so we're only catching up on the comments now...
Wow, your comments are blowing us away, we had no idea that this episode will bring such emotions, but we are sure it is all very positive! 😀
We knew you and mom would love this particular episode, as we'ved left most of the sea footage for the last episode, we could not help thinking of you while strolling on the wonderful beach towards Gericke's Point 😀
It sounds like your trip to Knysna was fantastic, even with some Kayaking and visiting the wonderful Featherbed Nature Reserve! Annelie and myself have been to Featherbed (on our honeymoon, mind you) 27 years ago (when I was not nearly as grey 🤣) and we visited those caves as well 🙂 We were contemplating to go back there for this BRC trip, but in the end we ran out of time...
Thanks do much for your loyal following, you (and mom) are truly our superfans and we so much appreciate your encouragement 🙂
      All the best, Werner
PS Thanks we got the mail 🙂 and Annelie responded a few minutes ago... this late response is also because BRC has been a bit busy over the last 2 days or more... 😀
