    Which camera bag are you using? Happy with it? I'd like to get my hands on a Shimoda Explore v2 one of these days... 📸🎒

    Things I didn’t know I needed to see: Matthew cuddling a bag on a hammock. Matthew playing ping pong with a bag. Things like that really being fresh air into a review for something like this

      Haha... yeah, got a little goofy with the b-roll shoot. You can only film yourself walking around and opening and closing the bag so many times!

    No relationship is perfect, but I wish you and your new bag a long and happy life together (judging by the b-roll, you too have something special.) LOL.
    Thank you for a great (and funny) review.

      Hahaha... we indeed share a special bond. I'll always look back fondly to our times at the park. Especially the ping pong.

    $550 for a backpack?!?!? I don’t think any bag is worth that much.

    • @matthewTobrien
      @matthewTobrien  ปีที่แล้ว

      Technically the bag is only $299 but the accessory combination I got brought it up to $550. Which is a lot, absolutely.

      Agree. Specially with the problem with the laptop compartment. It can end costing thousands of dollars.

      25 liters? How do they come up with these numbers? It wouldn’t hold more than 6 one liter containers.

    Color coded paracord zipper pulls are your friend. I make my own using a custom weave like a cobra or snake knot.

    The nomatic guys at NAB were awesome. Great video breakdown. Always curious how various people feel about their camera bags.

    Just use some colored heat shrink tubing on the zippers, should solve that zipper problem. Great review!

    I have a Tenba Shootout backpack which is over 10 years old and hasn't even busted a stitch.😍Brilliant design, ruggedly implemented. After 3 months of use, I was still discovering new compartments to store things in. My only regret is not getting the version with wheels. I plan to get a new Tenba that's like a doctor bag with wheels as my rolling option. I like Tenba (NYC) the way I like Grado headphones (NYC) - small family businesses that make good shit

      And my Kata bag was in flawless condition as well. They're built to last. Glad you're happy with the Tenba bag!

    Great stuff, Matthew! I did sort of the same thing, paid extra money for a better-quality bag, and got the Peak Design Sling 10L. I initially had the 6l Sling and managed to fit my whole travel rig in but I moved up just for ease of use. From partly cloudy and still chilly Ireland! ☘💪🏽👀👍🏽☘

      I definitely looked extensively at Peak Design's bags - Peter's attention to detail for on-the-go video making was what pushed me over the edge. Glad you like your bag!

    Copped the WANDRD 31L for $350 and it's doing everything I want for almost half the price of the Nomatic bag. For those on a budget, I highly recommend.

      Thanks, Bicky! Certainly doesn't make sense if you're not out and about making videos. Between travel and picking up crew gigs here and there and making my own videos it's amazing how essential a good camera bag is.

    Also… MBP’s add some HEFT! Currently in Taiwan with my bag (which also has a side slot for laptops) and taking it out I was like wow so much lighter.

      Oh no, Serge! Yeah, I can see this happening to a lot of us who might pack up in a hurry. I thought for sure my Mac was toast, but I was very, very lucky. Haven't forgotten to zip up the bag since!

    @matthewTobrien Okay Matt, off topic here, but would love to talk about your multi Apple Studio Display’s. I’m in a spot for where I have one Apple Studio Display and it’s stacked over an Asus monitor that’s at an angle from my desk angled back and up to where my studio display is at eye level. I’m torn because I want another studio display to replace the asus so that both monitors match. What are your thoughts? Ps. I’ll throw in that it may have benefits to keeping a non match monitor to test videos grades and exports displayed on more common monitors.

    • @matthewTobrien
      @matthewTobrien  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm right there with you, Matt. I want to replace my two Thunderbolt Displays with Studio Monitors to match my main Studio Monitor. It's just so expensive - even with some recent discounts on Amazon. If you can afford it, I say go for it. If it's a situation where you're going into debt just to help your brain with symmetry, you might hold off. I am. :(

    Well, my manfrotto camera bag wasn’t that expensive and I‘m very happy with it. If the MC Kinnon bag is worth the 550 bucks is all up to the one using it. For an example: I use 4 elgato stream deck + and 1 loupedeck CT on my computer… that’s 1500 only for hardware controllers. Do I really need them to get my work done? NO! Do I enjoy working on my computer more with these accessories? Hellyeah! So to me it was worth spending 1500 on gadgets I‘d describe as luxury.
    At the end it’s all in the eye of the beholder if some items are worth it’s price.

    • @matthewTobrien
      @matthewTobrien  ปีที่แล้ว

      Glad you're happy with it! And I completely agree with the investment in those controllers - I've been fortunate to partner with Monogram and use their Video Console and I love it. My buddy's borrowing it right now and it's definitely missed.
