Who's into the BMPCC OG? I'm loving using it for my photography channel (I have yet to post a video where I've used it, though - as of March 5, 2024)... if someone could make a 10mm pancake lens for this thing it would be incredible. The biggest challenge with this camera has been finding a compact zoom lens that's wide enough to give me a full frame equivalent of between 24 and 28mm.
I have one I bought in 2014 believe it or not. Fully working. I have a 12-35 which gives a good range from about as wide as you can get to reasonably long. I do think there was a 7mm out there though.
Sorry to hear that! I only kept one complete BMPCC and sold the rest (one with a missing door). Hopefully you can find an inexpensive parts camera! I had to wait months for one to pop up on eBay…
@AspectRatioPolice Ahhh, yeah, in these videos where I’m just going off the cuff I can misspeak sometimes. I will check that lens out. I wish there were more M43 10mm lenses though. Appreciate you watching and recommending a lens!
I've had an OG BMPCC for years. It's a fun camera, but not one that I've used too much, newer cameras are just so much more convenient. I had a GH5S too and bought a Metabones Speedbooster XL .64 to adapt my Canon EF lenses. That same speedbooster works on the BMPCC OG and results in a crop factor of about 1.84x. That's probably the best way to get a decently wide FoV with the OG. Even though there is a Speedbooster that is designed to work specifically for the BMPCC, I had no issues using the one designed for M43 in general.
I have that speedbooster, actually. I may see what kind of really wide angle EF lenses I can check out to try to get some other focal length. I really want to try to keep it as small and compact as possible which is why I got an adapter for my set of Pentax 110 lenses. But even the 18mm is really tough to use other than out in the world.
30 seconds in, and an Instant Subscribe from me! 😅 Excellent channel. I still have my OG Pocket in my kit, and I love it. Best Wishes to you, my Brother.
If you ever happen to be looking for some great wide angle lenses for this camera, I just picked up a 7.5mm Koah Fisheye lens for $50 on eBay for my camera. I use a Laowa 9mm usually, but the 7.5mm Koah is amazing, especially for the price. Very minimal distortion due to the crop factor, a surprising minimum focus distance, and it has an all metal housing. Hope you enjoy the camera! I've been loving mine since 2013.
It was fun to do some basic repairs on them, take them apart and see what's in there, and get some of them back up and running again. Now I just gotta make stuff with it...

Oooh, 12-35 could be cool. I've seen an 8mm and a 10mm fixed focal length as well. Definitely some options but of course none of them are perfect.
I’m looking for one now. I like these older cameras.
9-14mm Olympus lens ?
Hi Mattew are you interested on selling your spare battery door? (BMPC Original camera) my one is broken. Cheers

Do we all seriously have that same Panny lens? 😆😆😆
Haha I guess so!
Is it easy to swap parts from one camera to others ?
I feel like most of the parts are incredibly easy to swap out.
Wow man! Glad that all worked out and you have a nice camera in the end!
So far so good!
I purchased 3 samsung NX cameras (white, black, brown) used the hack setting found on youtube and use them for filming and photography.
I haven’t heard of that! Looks like I’ve got some videos to watch tonight…
at 9:29... the crop factor on a BMPCC is way more than 2X, despite having the M43 mount it has a 1" sensor, so it is more like 2.88X
Did I say 1.88/2x? 🤔
@@matthewTobrien at 9:36 yes. I see at 21:16 you corrected it.
I use a Cine-Nikkor 10mm C-Mount on the BMPCC. amazing lens.

lol, a 16-35 f/2.8 in addition to the speed booster is a LOAD 😂. But yeah, it’s tough to get around the crop
Agreed.
HDMI WILL BREAK

Love that! Appreciate you becoming a part of the channel! It’s a little all over the place with video topics but it’s always a good time!
@@matthewTobrien Very Welcome, and thanks for the welcome. 👍 I deeply enjoyed this video, and eager to watch more of your content. 👍

This episode is like watching a Christopher Nolan movie with all the inner cuts and the non-linear timeline.
It's the TENET of Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera OG vids. Haha.
I own 3 of them they are not for sale lol
Nice! Hang on to ‘em!
i've been on the hunt for an OG. Had one years ago and loved it. Really miss that camera. Awesome that you got one working!
