      You know, we would love to see you digging into some popular hardware. My current obsession is with small, cost-effective (but powerful) groove boxes, of our current era. Starting at the end of my list of rig pieces, which goes back 35 or so years, I just got the Roland AIRA S-1. I have had two friends over the years with SH-101's in their studios, and I have owned several old Roland analog synths, beside it. I gotta say, you could show folks how to make some great techno with just these tiny AIRA's, and a couple other reasonably priced bits of kit. It's pretty impressive, for $200USD, this one.

      great video :) really easy to understand and implement in the production.
      for the demos...how long should they be and what format (e.g. link, .wav, .mp3, etc.)?

    The best techno is much more "moving sound sculpture" than it is, the practice of traditional melodical musical theories.

      Ones that when you finally grow accustomed to a pattern, it starts to change into something else together.

    Thank you for this. So many techno tutorials are just sharing recipes. This one is different. It's more fundamental. It helps develop a deeper UNDERSTANDING, which is much more helpful in the long term than yet another recipe.

    This is sooooo validating, My brain thinks primarily in these kind of phrases, and I struggle with melodies.

    You gave so many interesting advices in such a short time that I had to pause the video every 10 seconds or so to keep up writting down my notes!
    Awsome tips as always!

      Make a folder on you tube of all favourite ideas.
      I have one for drums, bass, melodies, mixing and miscellaneous.
      When I am struggling with writing block all it takes is watching one of the uploads I have saved to spark an Idea.
      The only reason I am saying this is because I had pages of notes with no organisation and found it hard to come back to that juicy stuff.

    Hi bro, I follow your channel, mostly of time I am quite and silenced but I really like the way you share your views. I'am an Afro house producer currently I am at Top20 producers of this genre on the beatstats in the last 12 months. I like when you says the maths involved on the track and yesterday I saw an interview with the producer from ACDC rock n roll band and that guy says the same thing you said here at once. The maths, he was explaining why the drum and bass from this band is so straight enough to make the guitar plays off beat and creates the ACDC math work perfectly. In my case is hard as I need to explore the percussion ( congas, djembe, etc ) world. Sometimes those percussions are hard to find the maths , so many information inveolded, sometimes they are also a difficult to adjust the sound, as they are too raw.

    Awesome video! This got me thinking about one of my dusty old wip's that has some samples from Half-Life. Could you do a video on sample clearing and copyright? I know it's not the most exciting topic, but I think a lot of beginner producers have to know what it means and how to do it

    In techno music, the focus is on rhythmic and percussive elements, not melody. However, instrument effects like delay, reverb, distortion, and filtering can still convey emotion. Techniques like "build-ups" gradually increase tension, while "drops" create sudden changes in rhythm and texture. Creative use of effects creates a sense of tension, release, and emotional impact, making techno tracks dynamic and expressive.

    Would that multiband effect also be achieved using a normal compressor set to expand, or is there something specific in the multiband needed?

    • @OscarUnderdog
      @OscarUnderdog  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Expand is the opposite of what we want to achieve :) remember we are trying to compress the dynamic range, but in an upward motion :)
