    Detailed video with appropriate voice overs. Thank you for adding the ABS bleeding portion. It's not something I've seen elsewhere. Unfortunately, I do not own a scan tool that allows me to do it. I've only a small, simple scan tool.
    Since DOT 4 and 5.1 are both glycol-based brake fluids they are compatible with each other too. I've mixed DOT 4 and DOT 5.1 in my Odyssey.

      Great point! For those new to brake fluid, I'll add that DOT 5 is NOT the same as 5.1 and is not to be mixed with DOT 4 or 3.

    Do you pump the brakes whiles the scanner is activating the ABS modulating pump? If so, can I leave my pressure bleeder (Speedibleed or Motive Products bleeder) attached and pressured while during the ABS bleed so I do not have to be in the vehicle pumping the brakes?

    • @profsg
      @profsg  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, I did. That will help circulate the brake fluid. Do follow scanner instructions on your vehicle. On some vehicles, the instructions do include pressurizing the brake line while ABS is activated.

    Would you advice for a brake fluid change vs a fluid flush when copper leaves are beyond 300? Got a 2011 CRV

    • @profsg
      @profsg  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It definitely needs a flush. With that much copper, the fluid must have been corrosive for a long time. The bigger question is whether your brake lines and fittings are still holding up. They may need attention/replacement before a brake fluid flush.
      Not long ago, a friend got stranded on the road without brakes, so I rushed to help. Turns out, her car had leaking brake lines. In the end, they sold their gorgeous Mercedes GL 450 to a shop for cheap. I was in the market for a used car, but not a big truck like that. Otherwise, I would have bought it and fixed the brake lines myself.
      Just an example about the importance of regular maintenance like brake fluid replacement. But it's never too late to look into it and get it addressed. Best luck!

      @@profsg Good catch about the brake lines and fittings. So, you would got for a flush instead of the brake fluid change although the high copper levels 🙌🏻

    • @profsg
      @profsg  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, fix/replace any issues in your brake lines and then go for a flush, which you will have to do anyways after the brake work.

    Do you close the master cilinder while pumping the pedal?

    • @profsg
      @profsg  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, I did. Every time you top off the fluid in the master cylinder, put the cap back on.

    If a scanner has an option to activate the ABS pump but doesn't specifically say "bleed", would doing what you showed just work just by opening a bleeder on a wheel then just activating the ABS pump?

    • @profsg
      @profsg  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes. Normally you'd bleed the brake manually to introduce flesh fluid into the system and then activate the ABS to exchange old fluid inside the unit. Hope this makes sense.

      @@profsg I think so. I think you are saying that as long as I can turn on or off the ABS Pump, I can just bleed it.
      The thing is, it's raining out right now and I'm too lazy to just go and connect it to the car. LOL
      I do know that it can turn the ABS pump on or off as I've tested that. I just don't remember if it had the word "bleed" on that function.
      Thanks... I'm sure it will be ok.

    what to do if i have no scanner and ts OBD~1 ?

    • @profsg
      @profsg  ปีที่แล้ว

      In that case, you can perform the brake flush/bleeding without ABS and that may be good enough. After the flush, if you do drive under circumstances where ABS is activated (i.e. during hard braking), it will circulate fluid in ABS with fresh fluid in the master cylinder and brake lines. Theoretically, if one repeats the flushing and driving a few times, your ABS fluid is fresh too. However, please do NOT attempt this type of driving on purpose to flush your ABS. I meant, if hard braking did occur and ABS has been activated with fresh fluid, then you know the ABS system is partially replaced with fresh fluid.

    • @profsg
      @profsg  ปีที่แล้ว

      Again, the proper way to perform ABS bleeding is with a scanner, and they are indeed expensive. One relatively budget-friendly (still much more expensive than basic OBD II scanners) option is what I mentioned in the video, LAUNCH Creader Elite 205 OBD2 Scanner for $130 - $140:
      ebay.us/b2kUTb
      It has 5 reset options you can choose with the purchase and ABS is one of those. Unfortunately, you cannot program a regular scanner to perform these more advanced operations.
