Its so funny that the lady who plays starlight is still seriously claiming shes had no plastic surgery and it was just a bad photo with different makeup. She looks insane
Season 4 got way too heavy handed with its political messaging and dumb references to real world political events to the level of mind-numbing absurdity. Like when Newman mentioned AOC in her pitch to overthrow the govt at Tek-Nights mansion. That threw me completely off, coz I thought its been clearly established that Newman was supposed to represent AOC in the show.
Yeah as well its not clear what party Newman is in, she talks about chewing out AOC so is she Republican? If she is Republican than why does she have such left wing values?
In Season 1 we are told repeatedly that Starlight can blind/burn eyes out with her powers. She literally threatened The Deep with this in Season 1 episode 2. LET US SEE THAT!!!! It would make perfect sense for Starlight to use her powers to blind Victoria and THEN have Butcher kill Victoria. But no. Starlight sucker punches her and Butcher just kills Victoria in 5 seconds. The show made Victoria into this unstoppable villain that needed to be taken out (which I still don’t understand because why is she a bigger threat than Homelander? She seems far more reasonable than him but okay) it would’ve made perfect sense to the story to have the super villain that needs her eyes to use her amazing powers to be blinded. That would’ve also highlighted Starlight’s power because the show always portrays her as a protagonist. It was right there! But the writers are more interested in shock value and stupid one sided political takes rather than good story telling.
@@adsafgasgasdfasdfExactly!! Her powers are completely useless and I honestly think that Starlight has one of the most interesting powers and the show could’ve done so many cool things with it but no. I agree!! This character is the worst!! Her powers don’t even make sense. We are told that she is the smartest person in the world and that her brain can regenerate. Cool, but when she is shot in the head how does her skull heal? Her skull isn’t apart of her brain, so how does her wound heal? And how does she not bleed out? She literally said if you shot her in the heart she will die so we know that her whole body doesn’t regenerate. Also how does her eye heal after she gives herself lobotomies? So does her entire face and head heal or is it just her brain like we were told? Also how does being the smartest person in the world help Homelander? He is the most powerful being in the world. If he wanted to take over America he can just do it. Why does he need her??
Oh wait a kid just found the cure for cancer wowww bring her in lets listen to her what a smart kid....wait she's black!!!!!!!get her out 😂😂😂😂thats sage's backstory
To me, it sucks because of this. The TV series deviates too far from the comic, and turns what was supposed to be a fresh (if not edgelord-y) approach to the superhero genre into a mindless, pandering gorefest.
The worst part of this season is how spiteful it is toward its audience. 75% of the scenes in the show intentionally mentions real-world politics (the puppet scene in Episode 7 pissed me off the most). It’s especially spiteful toward a huge chunk of its audience, because it often disrespects and feminizes male characters who happen to be white like Hughie and Tek Knight. There are several characters whose conversations consist of making fun of white dudes. Eric Kripke and his team are well aware about what we hate in modern movies and shows, and they constantly use that against us. For every mention of the word “woke”, “facist”, or “racist” there is an equal bashing of straight white dudes (who are apparently all right wing by default just by existing) to match it. For example, when Sage talks to Homelander about reputation in Episode 3, she makes a condescending comment about how our favorite characters growing up were all straight white males, which she compares Homelander’s reputation to. It might come off as just a lukewarm joke, but there are many other examples of this. When the Deep confronts Starlight and comments “because I guess it’s cool to hate on white guys now”, even though this is all coming from a villain character. Kripke and his writers intentionally make the villains “speak facts”, which are automatically invalidated because it’s coming from the bad guys. The Boys wants to be self-aware, but it has nothing to say, just empty platitudes about our real world and how “woke” people are “evil” while also joking about how racist white people are, especially from Sage and Tek Knight. For some reason, this season feels like a Twitter-tier hit piece on straight white guys in favor over an actual story. And yes, this show was always “woke”, but at least with Season 1 it kept things purely fictional, without even involving the Republican and Democratic parties. But from Season 2 to now the writers gradually introduced real-world elements into the show. When you have Homelander call one of the villains (Newman) a “libtard” in the first episode of your newest season of your superhero show, ya lost me.

The fact they ruined two of the best comic subplots that actually showed interesting nuance is just shocking to me. The Tek-Knight storyline in the comic was actually kind of tragic. He was considered one of the only true heroes, before he got sick he never hurt or abused anyone. When he started to lose control he tried to get help but given that he's a massive dude in power armor he was too dangerous and volatile to treat. The second he worried he was going to hurt his kid side kick he instantly sent him away for his own safety. He even died a hero after his disgrace by saving a woman and child from falling bricks. His subplot was also tied to homophobia and the nature of tolerance. Tek-Knight didn't really like gay people, he was uncomfortable around them but he didn't wish any harm. He was tolerant of them. Meanwhile his former sidekick Slingwing (Nightwing rip off) Queer baited and had a lot of performative tolerance towards them because he appreciated being lusted after. But when down to brass tacs Slingwing hated them, he was disgusted by them and didn't tolerate them unless it was in a controlled setting. It also ruined the Huey going undercover as a superhero in a team. Another event that showed not all Supers were bad abusive people. Since it was an X-men rip off team of kinda slow and navie kids with an actual psychopath thrown in who was abusing them. Huey had to try to protect them from the older evil hero but also from Butcher who wanted to kill all of them regardless of their innocence just because of what they were. Also the super terrorist thing got dropped completely at this stage I guess?
This cape show started to go downhill after Season 1 tbh. Season 2 was decent and ok but has a lot of flaws. The only thing good about Season 3 was Soldier Boy other than that it's a Awful season. especially the finale, why would butcher suddenly change his deal with soldier boy because Ryan would get hurt? he could've easily got Ryan out of harm while Soldier Boy fights Homelander. Not to mention the power scaling in this show is terrible, becoming more inconsistent and unbalanced every season.
Butcher betrayed soldier boy bc the show runner its a greedy assh0le and wants to continue squeezing it and releasing more merchandise until the end of times
I never understood why he didn’t let Soldier Boy let off the power killing blast with Ryan in the room Butcher hates supes so why would he want Ryan to still have powers in the first place

Going to throw this one out there, just because I get so caught up with how good Antony Starr is as Homelander, it dulls my perception due to lack of options. This show was barely good when it first started, though it had potential to improve, but they immediately dropped the ball in season 2. How The Boys can be anyone's favorite show is beyond me.
24:56 for goodness' sake, there are no stakes about Homelander going rogue. Just before Homelander threatens Starlight in the finale and she was in live, but guess nobody cares. It's almost like the show doesn't want to take the risk of Homelander being a maniac. It's just teasing, like 'he's gonna go crazy.'
Legit hit the nail on the head of pretty much all my issues with season 4. I pointed out the same weirdness of Homelander not hearing the gunshot at the party, and some people were really doing some mental gymnastics to justify that scene.
Thank you. The show can’t deal with all the powers the characters have. All of them restrain themselves from using their abilities pretty much, that whole party scene is painful once you see it
@@GenerationOffended I think a major issue of the boys as a whole as is that the powers are too vague. We never really understand their limits. Newman with the Sheep being the worst example. Cause all it does is provide more filler. People can say what they will about shows like MHA but at least Quirks have very clear limits that are addressed.
Yeah the sheep bothered me too, or characters like Kate who could hypnotize anyone into doing her bidding but never uses it against supes like the 7. Homelander could command her to make them all follow him willing or make someone like the president serve him
@@GenerationOffended I told a buddy of mine this. It feels like the writing of the show got too concerned with referencing the current events of the day instead of focusing on the story.
It depends on how Kripke will react to the terrible reception of this season. Narratively it will probably have more flow because they won't have to drag their feet but I can't imagine that they will be writing Sage any better than they did this season. Overall it will probably be better than this Season and with some luck Kripke will take note of how the audience doesn't care for his political rants
Personally I still enjoy The Boys. But season 4 was not as good as the other seasons it was definitely the weakest. It would be pretty hard to mess up characters like Butcher or Homelander. I mostly watch for them, and I hope to see a up on quality for season 5. I don’t think we should drag it down to the grave, the shows almost over it’s got one more season. And I will say season 4s finale was definitely the best in the show. It’s got potential and a strong premise for build up to season 5.
@GenerationOffended no i hate plastic surgery it should be illegal cause they get money from people's insecurities and making them look worse. But we should make fun of people who do plastic surgery cause they're already insecure in the first place. The way people are bullying her under every her related comment section is wild and discusting. I like humor even fucked up dark humor but making fun of woman's face is my limit.
I was watching a good Japanese cartoon a while back, called Death Note. The context of the story, is that a brilliant student (a genius) comes into possession of a book called a Death Note, where you can write a person's name down, and you can kill them with it. As a result, he becomes a self righteous serial killer (he kills prison convicts, at first), which eventually leads to the 'powers that be' trying to find and stop him. So they bring in the world's greatest detective, a guy who calls himself 'L', and it turns into a game of cat and mouse. They are both trying to outplay each other, and figure out how to stop each other. What makes it such a good watch, is because it is intelligent. Every move they make, is backed up with logic, and they are constantly trying to outthink each other. And it works, one of them one ups the other, and the other ones up them. They even made a joke of their rivalry by having them play a tennis match where they keep outplaying each other. Nice metaphor for their rivalry. Then you watch Sister Sage in The Boys, and she is just awful. There is a nasty viewpoint on Blacks, that they have low IQs, and it is a perpetuated insult aimed at them. But it also isn't true, because they have roughly the same percentage of intelligent vs stupid people, that every other race does. With Sister Sage, it feels like intentional bait. She is a woman, for a reason. She is Black, for a reason. She is the victim of racism, for a reason (even though an intelligent woman wouldn't fall for racism bait). And everything she does makes no sense in terms of getting a good outcome. She comes across as dumb, but very self important. Pretty sure she was designed that way on purpose to invite straight white males to call her out (bait, as I said). Death Note was very clever in the cat and mouse fight between Light and L, Sister Sage just came across as being a smug dipshit Left winger who can't get her shit together, and is only there to be insulted so the writers can claims "Ha, see, we told you White men are racist and sexist!"
@@ominous_light Sister Sage is the Black Girl that 50 Shades of Grey fans worship. You either have a high enough IQ to understand that I just insulted you, or you don't. This show was barely good when it first started, though it had potential to improve, but they immediately dropped the ball in season 2. How The Boys can be anyone's favorite show is beyond me.
I have to say I loved Season 1. It definitely did a nose dive afterwards. This season is a horror show.
@@DoctorD4me 100% that's exactly what happened. They were more concerned about a message.
An RLM video for the 21st century
Big compliment to be compared to the man himself
What do you think season 5 is going to be like>?
It depends on how Kripke will react to the terrible reception of this season. Narratively it will probably have more flow because they won't have to drag their feet but I can't imagine that they will be writing Sage any better than they did this season. Overall it will probably be better than this Season and with some luck Kripke will take note of how the audience doesn't care for his political rants
it's you i finally found you
Its me, and i’ve been waiting
Personally I still enjoy The Boys. But season 4 was not as good as the other seasons it was definitely the weakest. It would be pretty hard to mess up characters like Butcher or Homelander. I mostly watch for them, and I hope to see a up on quality for season 5. I don’t think we should drag it down to the grave, the shows almost over it’s got one more season. And I will say season 4s finale was definitely the best in the show. It’s got potential and a strong premise for build up to season 5.
I can't belive how people are treating Erin moriarty for her plastic surgery. Shame on people fr
Yeah some people need plastic surgery
@GenerationOffended no i hate plastic surgery it should be illegal cause they get money from people's insecurities and making them look worse. But we should make fun of people who do plastic surgery cause they're already insecure in the first place. The way people are bullying her under every her related comment section is wild and discusting. I like humor even fucked up dark humor but making fun of woman's face is my limit.
I hate sister sage
She's pretty awful haha
@@zalamaelyou literally have no idea what ur talking about and plus she's a villain...
@@ominous_light Sister Sage is the Black Girl that 50 Shades of Grey fans worship.
You either have a high enough IQ to understand that I just insulted you, or you don't.
IQ test yourself, to help you learn your place.
And stop pretending you are Sister Sage, because only a low IQ moron would that desperate to be taken seriously.
And also, if an IQ test is so scary for you, at the very least, go wash yourself,. Even on TH-cam, we can smell you. Seriously pet, wash yourself.
@@ominous_light Nah, if she was a villain, it would be Anime. The Japanese only cast Black characters, if they are dumb and impotently violent, much like real life.

Satire and explotation genre with superheroes --> That's all, but you people can't process it. Talking about the love of franchises and showing marvel and star wars * son, you are indoctrinated, brainwashed and you don't notice, you need the Boys to make fun of you kid
I don’t think you finished my review, you should listen to my full arguments before claiming to know what I think.
@@GenerationOffended "...They were suposed to be making fun of things like marvel and disney", "low ratings of this season" please. stay with cartoons son
@@danielglooover Didn't you just say that this show is a satire? Are you saying that they shouldn't be making fun of Marvel? Also whats wrong with cartoons, is that supposed to be a lower form of cinema? You're not really saying anything or pointing out any flaws in my argument
look in the mirror buddy
It is very funny though that conservative movie reviewers only seem to review Disney, star wars, marvel dc boring generic stuff.
...like y'all are not real cinema lovers
Jokes on you i’m about to review Vampire Diaries next
@@GenerationOffended baby steps! You can do it
Perhaps those are the only ones youre hearing about bc theyre the largest franchises ever and have a lot of forced stuff in them lately. I think you just arent watching enough "conservative movie reviews". This is like me saying "i only hear about curling during the olympics so they must not be curling the rest of the year"

For all it's flaws, the boys is still a pretty engaging and interesting show...to the point that i don't really get that invested in mcu or dc projects like i used to. and i like sage she's my fav character/villain in this series next to stormfort
@@brzi6504 that she's kinda the only villainous supe that isn't a lapdog to homelander and she's intruiging, she could've chosen to not help homelander to get the influence of the white house since he kicked her out but she still did, just because she could and she doesn't have morals. She's just a baddie
@@ominous_light the low standards of the mass majority of people such as yourself are the reason why entertainment and culture is trash now, and has gone down the drain, completely wasted.
For many years I am indulging in social media and its comment sections, to analyze, review, and educate myself in regards to people's opinions and thoughts. Seeing as how most comment sections are divided, and are spread with varying degrees of radical and neutral opinions, and different points of views of many different people... I rarely, almost never, take the time out of my day to respond, or reply to a comment that I see; as I see hundreds a day, and there's no point arguing with people, ultimately.
This however, is a rare case, because your comment actually managed to piss me off, to the point I actually express my hatred in a way that's not just watching a commentator rant about how dumb people like you are. Nah, season 4 was objectively the best. The previous seasons had a lot of forced plot devices. Like Mesmer running to the washroom when in airports, security guards are everywhere. On top of that, Butcher is like most wanted on the FBI list and he's roaming free in an airport.
I know this was only 2 flaws but I know that when I was watching seasons 1-3, I noticed a lot of bullshit like that
Curious how you found issues with Season 1 but had no issue with Season 4

Homelander became one of the many reasons why The Boys was great,
To one of the VERY few decent things about it & a liability. No wonder why he's the most beloved and popular character of the series.
Well said! He’s the face of the franchise, of course hes going to be popular. Darth Vader is the face of Star Wars, but George Lucas never attacked the fans for enjoying that character
