WOW, I could not take my eyes off the violist! The way she captivated me with how deeply into the music she was, how she connected with her colleagues, and never getting covered up by the other instruments! Brava!!!

Gobsmacked; my jaw's on the floor. I've been playing cello for 50 years - and I'll continue to do so as long as I can - but I'll never be able to play with this level of quicksilver precision and control. I've heard lots of complete Beethoven quartet cycles, but the Ebene's recording immediately shot to the top of my list as soon as I heard it (replacing the Tokyo's recordings from the 90s).

Marcel Reich-Ranicki chose it for the “Literarisches Quartett” on TV, the reasons of which he writes about in his autobiography on p.222-223.🌱

This movement makes me want to drive very irresponsibly an outrageous sports car on France's side roads.

FIRE! It’s not noted in the score but I think 4:32 should be even faster, like the music suddenly is jet-powered

I mean, you can certainly choose to do that, but Beethoven was perfectly capable of writing that in if he'd wanted it. And, of course, the Ebene's already playing faster than humans are capable of.
