Beautiful and compelling performance! This might be the most Haydn-esque of the Beethoven quartets. So lovely to hear it played in that style! Extremely fine intonation, ensemble playing, and phrasing. Thank you!

The Quatuor Ebene plays with a freedom and flexibility unmatched by any quartet today. Maybe ever.

One of the best first violinists in any quartet that I've seen.

His performance of the variation at 16.15 to 17.33 is glorious in tone and phrasing.

There is so much to admire in this performance. I particularly like the transparency of their sound, it is luminus with spendid haydnesk clarity. The minimal use of vibrato is an object lesson for all quartets. Well done guys.

Superb performance of a wonderful quartet - and a perfect example of how to present a string quartet on video. One camera position, no zooming, no close-ups of hands or cello bridge. Nothing to distract from the music. I can watch any of the four players at any time and see how they work together. It's as near as possible to actually being there and having the best seat in the house. Isn't that what we want?

Excellent point, so rarely expressed. Give us the concert hall with the whole ensemble. I can still focus in on a single player, as I might at a live concert.

I can understand the enthusiastic applause by some in the audience after the end of the first movement. It's hard to restrain oneself after hearing something so perfectly executed.

Love this performance! The 3rd movement is gorgeous- great contrast between prayerful and rollicking. Thanks for posting.
