You reached the right conclusion, but this comparison (like many similar ones on youtube) misses the point. In good light, you are not going to see a significant difference, unless you are significantly cropping your images. The sensor size comparison between these two is like Crop Sensor to Full Frame, with the Sony being the Full Frame in this comparison. The larger sensor of the RX100 will give you better control over depth of field and better high ISO performance in low light. Its greater megapixel count will also translate into superior cropping ability. The bounce flash capability the RX100 has, virtually renders the Iphone useless by comparison. If you just point and shoot and zoom mostly with your feet, then the Iphone might just be right for you. If you are a photographer and like to be able to quickly adjust exposure compensation, ISO, white balance, drive mode, focus points, bracketing, metering, then an Iphone won't do. If the last sentence made no sense to you, then the Iphone is just right for you.

From the comparisons you showed I would say the RX100 takes better shots outdoors. The iPhone shots seemed more washed out or hazy in some of the outdoor scenes, however the iPhone looked sharper with richer colors on several of the indoor shots. I am curious about battery life comparisons.

rx100 still easily wins in low light... in bright day they're almost on par... very impressive for the phone. but then rx100 is much cheaper too.

I am absolutely sold on iPhone X's 4K 60 FPS. All my TH-cam videos come from iPhones year-after-year and the quality now is fantastic.
What I love most is being able to edit video on the phone itself in iMovie iOS.
Apple should develop an iOS based camera which has iMovie and even other editor apps...the A11 chip, WiFi and true optical zoom and optical image stabilizer.
The only problem iPhone has is optical zoom. It is a smartphone. It will never compare to a SLR. However, its benefit is its relatively low price for the 6 Plus, 7 Plus, 8 Plus and X compared to SLR for casual shooting and emailing/sharing on social media.
Without the comparison, the average person wouldn't know how much better/worse an SLR looks compared to the iPhone. Both are more than adequate.

I was impressed with how good the iPhone X was. I have a Sony RX 100 II. I think the most significant condition in which the Sony is better is in low light... and it has a better flash.

Aside from the incredible frame rate of the Sony, the iphone video appears to have better color balance in your comparisons here, especially your video opening. Images - Sony wins each time. Thanks for the excellent comparison.
