Veronica is a play on Archie comics. Remember how Bruce's girl in his movie was named Betty? Betty and Veronica were the two girls competing for Archie's attention. Betty was the "nice" one and Veronica the bad girl.
I always loved that vision of Steve, Peggy says the war is over and he can go home and to imagine it, but as soon as he does he sees nothing, and empty room because the war is never over for him.
I was glad to see you laugh at Tony's 'Prima Nocte' joke. I don't think there are too many reactors that know the meaning. Technically speaking, Veronica was designed by both Banner and Stark. Tony was only able to knock Hulk out because Hulk had calmed down which weakened him enough for the sucker punch to work. It is Banner's subconscious that does the calming which is why Hulk hates puny Banner so much. Banner is Hulk's only true weakness.
22:56 That armor is actually known in the comics as The Hulkbuster, which was developed in conjunction with Bruce Banner for the possibility of him losing control entirely and the Hulk going on a rampage.
You couldn't be more right on the choice of the voice of Ultron. James Spader from "The Blacklist" to do the role. He has the same calm, laid-back attitude as a hitman in that show. I'd LOVE to see you guys react to that show! He's amazing in it!
Dude same. It was their walking dead reactions that got me into them and once they started reacting to Marvel oh my gosh, I watch every video the second it comes out.
Rob, I love how you predicted exactly what Ultron would do before it even woke up lol. Evil AI 101, right? Another symptom of Tony's PTSD that his friends ignore - like I mentioned in Iron Man 3. He is terrified by what he saw in the worm hole in Avengers 1, and feels an overwhelming responsibility to protect everyone and everything from it.
I love this movie so much. It's one of my absolute favorites of the MCU. I wish I could sit down and gab about so many things with you guys! I'll give you a few comments from this half of the movie here: 1) I love how we get to learn so much more about all our characters in this one. A LOT of extra backstory. 2) This is a big example of how much I love Black Widow and Hawkeye. Only SHE knew about the family... and if it wasn't already clear how much to two mean to each other, the kid was going to be named after her. 3) Veronica is a MASSIVE inside joke. As you may recall, Bruce Banner's love interest was Betty... and in the Archie's comic book, Archie was attracted to Betty... but Betty's rival for Archie's affections (and rival for other things as well) was Veronica... so that's why the anti-Hulk stuff is named Veronica. 4) I think it is very telling that while everyone else's fear is about dark things, Captain America's fear is a world where war has ended. He'd be a soldier with no war to fight in and who would he be then? 5) So many people seem to misunderstand what Black Widow is saying about being a monster. The monster part is not about not being able to have kids... it's about that everything that was done to her including having her body surgically altered was so she could be a better killer. The fact that she was trained to be a cold, merciless killer is what makes her a monster. 6) Jarvis is a very advanced computer program and has some of the basic concepts of AI, but deep down Jarvis is still a computer program and not an aware being. Well... this post is long enough. Anyway... I am so glad you're watching the Marvel Movies and having such a good time with them. Hope you don't mind me geeking out all over at you. :)
I wasn't a big fan of this film when it came out but looking back after seeing the impact the events of this film have on the MCU i came to enjoy it but still regard it as the weakest Avengers film. Wanda and Pietro Maximoff were a nice surprise that I thought would never happened. Little context Wanda and her Brother Pietro first appearance was in The X-Men #4 where they were members of the newly introduced Brotherhood of Evil Mutants under the command of a character called Magneto. But as Fox owned the movie rights to X-Men (Marvel sold off the movies rights in the 1990s) this meant that Marvel Studios could not use Mutant characters without forming some kind of agreement with Fox. As Wanda and Pietro are Mutant characters most people assumed that we'd never get them in the MCU but thankfully it seems that Marvel Studios and Fox were able to make a deal. There's seemed to be a middle ground which I imagine Disney used to convince Fox to let them use these two characters. Both Maximoff's left the Brotherhood of Mutants and joint the Avengers after realising their actions were wrong. They also play a massive part in the comic's more so Wanda so i imagine the rights of this actors were pretty interesting. Fox owned the right to X-Men but Wanda and Pietro were also Avenger characters so who gets who. In the end it looks like both Fox and Disney were able to use these characters they just couldn't cross reference each other so that's why they're never referred to as Mutants in this film. Quicksilver, Pietro Maximoff was killed off in this film most likely because of reasons relating to Fox and there X-Men universe. Pretty much Fox had plans for Quicksilver in there own universe and I imagine Marvel were unsure if Fox would've allowed them to keep Quicksilver as a returning character so they just killed him off. Fox had no plans for Wanda so I guess they're fine with her being apart of the MCU while Fox's Quicksilver did his own thing in the Fox X-Men universe. In a perfect world we would have Avengers, and X-Men movies all existing together. It's similar to Spider-Man was owned by Sony and how we had the Sam Rami Spider-Man movies followed by the Amazing Spider-Man Marc Webb reboots all existing in their own Sony universes. Thankfully after Amazing Spider-Man 2 did not do so well Sony agreed to feature a new Spider-Man in the MCU and that's how we have Tom Hollands Spider-Man. Disney bought Fox in 2019 so they're free to feature Mutants and The X-Men in the MCU now going forward it's just a matter of how they'll introduce them and when. One pretty big change is the creator of Ultron. In the comic's are most renditions (Video games and Cartoons) Ultron was created by Hank Pym also known as Ant man instead of Tony Stark and Bruce Banner. The events within and around Sokovia are also unique to this film and did not happen in the comic's but Sokovia itself is from the comic's appearing in the Earth-616 main Marvel comic's.
They have never incorporated it into the MCU because Disney/Marvel didn't have the rights to the X-Men (from a film standpoint), but Wanda and Pietro (aka Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver) are actually Magneto's children. Now that Disney owns Fox, and they're working on bringing the X-Men into the MCU, I'll be interested if they go down that road. They have their own version of Quicksilver in the X-Men movies, and they allude to Magneto being his dad, but they've never actually introduced Wanda into that universe.
james spader was the perfect choice to voice ultron. he is actually a very interesting actor to watch. i loved stargate (movie) with him and kurt russell. big fan here.

I don't normally like reaction channels, most reactors just shout and scream, but you guys actually bring something to the table. You're gonna love Caps Iron Man suit in the next movie!!!!
It's possible you missed in Cap's hallucination scene, he was at a party, but everywhere were images and sounds reminiscent of war and wounds. He's deeply traumatized by his near-addiction to war. Loki said it well, "The Soldier. Pretending he could live without a war." He is torn between home and war--- which looks like a party to him. Very troubled.
That large suit is specifically made to fight the Hulk. It's usually referred to as the Hulkbuster. Here they called it Veronica. Because Banner's first love was Betty. It's an Archie Comics reference.
In this movie they called the sattelite Tony used against Hulk ''Veronica'', and in the comics, the armor itself is called ''Hulkbuster'', but they never used the name in the MCU.
If you never knew about the Hulk the thing is, the angrier he gets or the harder he takes it, the stronger he gets, so no matter how strong someone is, he levels up....
In Archie comics, he has a girlfriend named Betty and she has a rival named Veronica. Bruce Banner/Hulk has/had a girlfriend named Betty... so Tony named the Hulk Buster Armor as Veronica.
So in the comics the twins are actually mutants Scarlett Witch and Quicksilver the children of Magneto from the X-men comics. Quicksilver is also in the X-men films.
Actually, being a DC fan you can appreciate my idea: If we EVER see a DC vs MARVEL cinema line, for the villain could you imagine if the Hulk got his fingers on a Red Power ring... 😱🤯
I meant to mention it last movie, but I was wondering if Rob knew the actress playing Nebula?! If not, here's a hint... She was Amy Pond on Doctor Who. I don't know if you, or Trin, watch the Doctor, but I do, & I have been watching that show since the early 80s! Most fans from the US jumped on the wagon when season 5 got going, mainly because of Matt Smith, who is now on House of the Dragon, but Amy Pond was a big part of that show too. Just a bit of trivia for ya... 🤘🤪
The main problem with this film is that it needs to be longer. Tony/Bruce talking about Ultron/AI and Thor’s magic jacuzzi needed to be far better explained.
I'm interested to hear if you guys have any British super hero's... Like it seems that entire world exists in America... You guys are amazing and I look forward to seeing your full reaction to the complete storyline...
Tony or Bruce by themselves are ridiculously intelligent and inventive people. Let the work together and they are scary unstoppable levels of smart. Ultron is fun because he sees the problem, and he's not wrong, exactly, it's his chosen method. He's very binary, on/off. Live/die.
ปีที่แล้ว
The anti-Hulk suit is called Veronica because Bruce's old girlfriend was called Betty.
Trins comment about ultron not having a human leg well technically he did cause there is a villain named Dr.Doom he wear's full metal armor suit when i first saw him i thought he was a robot later to learn he is human so i dont totally blame Wanda for thinking Ultron was a man
I've softened on this one over the years but between Nat's characterization, the length of the Hulk vs. Iron Man fight coming immediately after an action sequence, Thor recruiting Dr. Selvig so he can go swimming in the shallow end of an electric pool, the lack of stakes for blowing up a giant piece of earth in the air over a body of water that wasn't there before, and a kind of late discovery of the monsters or humans theme all indicates this movie is a bit messy.
The twins are the mutants Quicksilver and Scarlett Witch. If you pay attention, they never use the word "mutant" bc the studio wasn't allowed to. Not until they get the rights to all or at least the majority of the mutants within Marvel i.e. The Fantastic 4, X-Men to name a couple.
Well ain't this a cool darn movie! I think this is generally regarded as the weakest of the Avengers films, but considering it is pretty awesome, that's not exactly the worst news.
Fans of the MCU laugh at male characters experiencing everything from mental breakdowns & depression to humiliation & objectification; especially in scenarios they wouldn’t dream of finding humor in if it were a female instead. I think a character who’s saved the planet multiple times can make a joke - a joke that is only humorous b/c it is *_SOOO_* exceptionally-extreme that everyone understands it’s a joke. It’s tantamount to him saying he would enslave everyone in the room. People would (rightfully) find it humorous. *_((Please don’t respond with a dictionary devotion of “Prima Nocta” & say “there’s nothing funny about…” or “saying he would enslave them is not the same as saying…”. We get it.))_*
@@THEbeautifuLIE I’m not saying it isn’t in character. Note that I didn’t say I wish Tony had not made the joke. I just wish reactors would better understand its connotations. Every time someone laughs at that line I’m just like ew, think about what he’s actually saying. Also being a hero isn’t an excuse to make crappy jokes about assault. Tony is a bad person. ((Please don’t respond with “Tony isn’t a person he’s a character” etc etc We get it.))

In Archie comics, he has a girlfriend named Betty and she has a rival named Veronica. Bruce Banner/Hulk has/had a girlfriend named Betty... so Tony named the Hulk Buster Armor as Veronica.

Tony or Bruce by themselves are ridiculously intelligent and inventive people. Let the work together and they are scary unstoppable levels of smart. Ultron is fun because he sees the problem, and he's not wrong, exactly, it's his chosen method. He's very binary, on/off. Live/die.
The anti-Hulk suit is called Veronica because Bruce's old girlfriend was called Betty.
Trins comment about ultron not having a human leg well technically he did cause there is a villain named Dr.Doom he wear's full metal armor suit when i first saw him i thought he was a robot later to learn he is human so i dont totally blame Wanda for thinking Ultron was a man
I just never bought the Bruce Natasha relationship she had so much more chemistry with Steve.
I'd hate to see the day hulk gets his ass kicked
J.A.R.V.I.S isn't A.I. he's Just A Rather Very Intelligent System.
Finally 😂😂
I do like this movie but I do wish they made Ultron more robotic in his face. It just looks weird that his face moves sort of like a human
J.A.R.V.I.S. (Just A Rather Very Intelligent System). F.R.I.D.A.Y. (Female Replacement Intelligent Digital Assistant Youth). Stark AI acronyms
😎👍
Cap was the mvp of this movie
Ccap!! is so cool!!!

I tried watching this 4 times and fell asleep, on the 5th watch I managed to be able to watch the whole thing
That prima nocta joke was super gross and I wish less people would laugh at it. Great reaction tho! James Spader really makes this movie for me.
