I think you did a really good job! The drum sound suited the music well.

@@ralphbeebytheelephantcolle1651 Go for it! I'm looking forward to hear what you come up with. I also feel very inspired to do some drum recording as well. Keep on rocking in the free world

Have you heard about John bonham recording in a stairwell? That may have been Glynn Johns’ doing… that’s the enormous booming sound. I think that may have been three mics, if I remember the story correctly

I looked it up - it was “when the levee breaks” and it was only 2 mics

Yes, I'd heard they set up in a tall stairwell for that. I didn't know about the mic arrangement, but I guess having two makes sense: one up close to get the "punch" of the kit, and another up high to get the "boom" from the stairwell, presumably.

I'd certainly be interested to see how close one could get to that sound with modern "budget" gear and a similar stairwell!

fairly certain they used two Beyer m160s in some sort of a stereo setup dangled from the top of the stairwell at Headley Grange (an old Manor House in England) drums were in the sort of lobby hallway area at the bottom
