  • Upgrading my 2013 Toyota Tacoma factory speakers to these new aftermarket speakers so I can get those better tunes.
    I also realized I used a different bolt for the mounting process and you honestly don't need to use a drill bit to make the holes bigger. This all depends on your speakers you're getting.

    i've never enjoyed those neodymium magnets. just never found them to produce solid sound thru the frequency range "claimed" on the speakers. good upgrades are easy enough to do! with a decent set of typical hand-tools, and some patience, this can easily be done or take it to a shop, if you dont feel comfortable with electrical systems.
    i'm in the process now, after purchasing a '15 last year.
    *there are a few things that every upgrade SHOULD include... replace ALL speakers, use after market amps, for 4 channels and another for the sub. also, sound deadening in the doors will improve the sound of even the most affordable upgrades. i can guarantee you'll notice a huge difference if the door is sealed and vibrations are minimized, or completely resolved.
    **there are a dozen quality aftermarket head units that will "plug and play" for the Taco. some of which have apple/android car play features.

    I can’t really get the holes to line up to the adapter and speaker. Ordered the same parts

      Depends on the speakers you get, like if you go with my set up. Everything I listed was all you’ll need. If ya go with anything else just double check and cross reference other videos ya know. Good luck man!

    Did you upgrade head unit or get an amp? how did this affect your max volume? i changed speakers on my old car to kickers and couldnt raise my volume too high without popping/cutting out (no amp).

      Upgraded the head unit prior to changing the speakers, so that may have helped. Actually never thought about the head unit playing a part to improving the speaker volume. I haven’t experienced any popping/cutting out

      @@foodinbob yea im shopping around for head units, but ones i like are out of stock. last question: did new head unit require special wiring to be compatible with steering wheel audio controls or did yours not have that?

      @foodinbob  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@krgnet1573 Oh man, yeah make sure ya do your hw on your unit. I had installed my unit without realizing I'd lose my steering wheel functions. Then I purchased Metra Axxess ASWC-1 to gain those features back. Except the Call/Decline button but that's fine, I just wanted the Skip/Backward/Vol Up and Down.

    were these plug and play? no re wiring required? Also, did you ever install tweeters?

    • @foodinbob

      Yeah there were just plug and play so long as you order the right adapters. I haven't installed tweeters yet and not sure if I will.

    • @foodinbob
      @foodinbob  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@alexmlo1 Compared to the stock, the upgraded speakers are good on their own. I'd have to see a sound comparison between the tweeters to really make that upgrade.

    Why didn’t you install the grills?

    • @foodinbob
      @foodinbob  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The door panel of the tacoma has its own design that doesn't allow aftermarket grills to be installed. I mean I could but I'd have to cut it out and in my opinion I don't think it'll look clean.
