Watch a full tutorial as a 2015 Toyota Tacoma will have a new pair of NVX component speakers installed in the front doors. We will be using the NVX VSP65KIT 6.5" component speaker system amplifier which is rated for 125w RMS each side of power output for better sound quality.
Note: This vehicle wasn't equipped with JBL from the factory so we do not need to retrain a factory Bose amplifier.
This video applies to Toyota Tacoma models for years 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015. This video also includes door panel removal, crossover wiring, and installation.

thank you for the video! super helpful. I have a question for you. The resistor inside my crossover broke off, so there is not any signal being sent to the mid-range speaker. Can I replace the crossover with ANY crossover? Or does it need to be the same brand that I have now?

thanks for the links. not many options for a 6x9 comp set, glad i searched for the adaptors.
the entire head unit and factory wiring along with amp and all 7 speakers are going in the trash.
that i can use almost any 6.5" mid is gonna open up the floodgates for my build options.
    update 12/5/23:
i found a 3 way comp set that will fit perfectly, with a little trimming, that is.. be aware that some comps use a 2.5" midrange in their 3-way set. in this case, im going w/ Morel maximo ultra which is 6.5 midbass, 2.5" midrange, and 1" silk tweet. i found that it's possible to trim the "subaru/toyota tweeter adaptor" (around $11) to fit the 2.5" midrange. once this was done and that little mid was put in the metal bracket where the tweeter comes installed at factory, i was able to surface mount the tweet in the sail panel.
this replaced a 2-way system using the CT sounds Meso set that I installed last month.. and omg it's a world of difference. soundstage was raised by a foot. now it sounds as if there is a live band playing on my dashboard!
so my system i installed required a complete trashing of that JBL factory garbage, i used 3 way comps in front doors, 6.5 midrange in rear doors, 5 channel amp in back wall, 10" sub in truck box @ back wall, and a 10" android unit for the radio portion.
the Joying brand comes w/ all harnesses to wire direct for '15 tacoma, and the factory back up cam also works!
took prolly 15 hrs to do all doors and back wall w/ sound deadener and complete wiring, then another few hours to get the comps in the doors, with speaker rings, setting the gains and all that jazz.
i see a lot of vids promoting a plug and play type set up, but friends.. if you have the time and resources do the entire system, you will not regret it!

Thanks for your vids. I'm exited. I'm getting those alpine components you recommended along with the metra adapters. Exited to have some high quality sound again. When I was a kid I had 6.5" Alpine type R speakers and they sounded sooooo good along with my subwoofers, unfortunately they went to the junkyard before I could get them out of my car and it's still one of my biggest regrets. Not only did they sound amazing, but the Type-Rs from 20 years ago looked super cool too, they were polished silver with the R in the center and a big fat rubber surround. The new ones have that cone which I guess improves the sound quality which is good, but it just doesn't look as cool and sleek as those old silver dish ones. The Alpine S-S65C are quite a bit cheaper than the type R spec, but I know they will still blow away the stock speakers in terms of sound quality. I wonder how different the S-S65C's really sound compared to the much more expensive type Rs?

Thanks for the video. Those stock speakers are amazingly weak.
My 1989 Hyundai had a better sound system. This is the best upgrade I've ever done on a car.

So the radio speaker wire runs the cap and the tweeter and back to the woofer ?

    • @ProvoBeastAudio
      @ProvoBeastAudio  ปีที่แล้ว +1

Toyota runs the audio signal from the radio to the harness that the tweeter is plugged into, splits the signal there where one lead goes to the tweeter, and the other lead goes to the midrange speaker in the door. Both speakers are receiving full signal (no crossovers yet), but each speaker is individually crossover internally.

@@ProvoBeastAudio OK you actually did explain that in the video so the four leads that are going into the Twitter harness two of those are for the in on the crossover and the others are for the woofer ? Then plug harness to new woofer and attach new tweeter to crossover ?

    • @ProvoBeastAudio

Technique, yes. However, the JBL audio system likes to see a 2 ohm speaker, where these speakers are 4 ohm (less sensitive, thus appearing quieter). I'd recommend replacing your JBL speakers with a 2 ohm speaker.
