Interesting. I’ve never been in the CIA but I was a Federal Agent for 30 years. I also wear cargo pants. I carry a 9mm in my front right pocket holstered in an Uncle Mikes inside the pocket holster and I have never had a problem drawing the weapon. In the pocket below my gun I carry a knife, this way nothing gets tangled up when I draw my weapon. In my front left pocket I carry a loaded 9mm magazine and in the pocket below that I carry a small flashlight. I’ve been carrying it this way for years as part of my EDC. Stay safe.
Also check out the CCW jeans you can get these days. But of Lycra in the denim means you can draw seated with a seatbelt on if needed.extra mag pockets and nobody knows because it’s not joe tactical pants.
Reflex sight fixes that! Both eyes open! I have same issue, right hand dominate left eye dominate! Older I get more I realize I need a laser on pistol or red dot.
Get a Crimson Trace Green laser. They work and are great for low light and out to about 5 yards. I have them on ALL of my pistols/revolvers. I have used them since they came out, in the 90s I think. A huge positive for the laser is that they are excellent for dry fire training. Just seeing what the laser is doing when you press the trigger is priceless. @@keebz75
@@keebz75 Go with a laser I have 9 hand guns 6 of them have green lasers on them & one green dot. When I started becoming an old fart I realized I needed them makes things much better like anything there's a learning curve but if your an avid gun handler it's pretty quick.
Nice job with this video. I'm a retired LE officer as well. I've pocket carried for nearly 25 years and it's a great option. First a Glock 27, then a Kahr PM9 and currently a S&W 360PD. One thing that I've found is to make sure the handgun cannot fall out if your knocked to the ground or end up grappling with an assailant. Being a martial artist I know that lots of fights end up on the ground. It could be a disaster if the handgun came out. A lot of pocket holsters have no retention on them. The pant, design, size and material of the pocket is almost as important as the holster itself! Like you; I have a box of holsters I've tried and now are stored for good. The best holster I've found a is Mitch Rosen. The holster is specifically designed for each weapon and there's just enough retention to prevent the weapon from coming out unintentionally, but it can be drawn and not come out with the gun.. Lastly, practice falling to the ground, etc. and see if the gun falls out. Just my two cents. Thanks for sharing

I have pocket carried a J frame unholstered in my right front pocket for years and never had an issue. Super fast draw, comfortable and very concealable.
I appreciate the fact that in a video about pocket carrying you actually showed the pistol in the pocket, it’s amazing to me how many TH-camrs fail to do so.
"Sticky Holster" does not have hooks but feels sticky on the outside of the holster which contacts the fabric inside the pocket. Drawing the pistol works well as the inside of the holster which contacts the firearm is smooth/slick.
I use a tulster iwb holster almost everyday but, when i pocket carry, i use an alabama holster. I like it most because the outside facing kydex is curved so it doesn't print at all. Hope that helps anyone looking. 👌
FYI: I wear Duluth Trading Co. "firehose work pants" that have a small hidden pocket inside the front right pocket that makes a great "holster" for a pocket gun. I've worn those pants carrying a Sig P365 and my S&W Bodyguard 380 and both of those guns stay put in that hidden pocket all day. I have a Ruger LCR 9mm that also can be pocket carried in the same way too. Very comfortable carry and the pants don't print that you're concealed carrying. Check them out.

Hi Richard. It's not specified as a pocket for a concealed carry pistol. However, it does work for both my Sig P365 and for my S&W Bodyguard 380. It's inside the front right pocket. I like the flex firehouse work pants which are very comfortable.@@richarde1355
I have pocket carried a S&W 340 M&P .357 revolver for many years. My old pocket holster would sometimes come out with the gun. I recently switched to a Sticky pocket holster which ALWAYS stays in the pocket when the gun is drawn. It has no hooks or other gadgets, nor is it "sticky" but it is made of a material which "clings" to cloth. It is also quite inexpensive. I highly recommend it.
I carry a Sig P365 in a Desantis pocket holster that has a hook. It covers the trigger,the outside of the holster has a rubber stipled texture the inside has a smooth lining. I have precticed my draw countless times and everytime the holster stays in my pocket. I have used this method for 4 years and works great no printing,no shirt to pullup and I can draw my gun very fast and I have a thumb safety on it for safety and if you don't need or want a thumb safety that's not very safe and if you train enough the safety is no problem you have to sweep your thumb over the gun anyway so why not remember the first thing about guns. Safety!
In a pocket? Carry it in a lint-free (sealed at the bottom) sticky-holster, which will keep it oriented correctly, clean, dry and mask the printing. If it’s a sem- auto, don’t forget to clean it from time to time. Practice getting it out regularly. Keeping your finger outside of the trigger guard. It’s a little tricky. That’s all you need to know.
I bought a pair of Wrangler jeans with that 'stretch' material. They are supposed to be the exact same size as the relaxed fit non-stretch version. The stretch pair are way more comfortable than the non-stretch version, but the pockets are at least 50% deeper than any of my others. My thoughts are that they were made for pocket carry. I don't have a proper holster, so I haven't tried it. As an aside, front pocket carry seems to solve the problem of what to do with the gun when using the rest room away from home. Just leave it in your pocket. Easy!
Surprised you have a knife in the same pocket as your pistol. I see you almost lost it when drawing the pistol, which is much better than it getting in the way and preventing a clean draw. I carry a knife, or two, and I carry a pistol. They get their own pockets. With cargo pants, there is plenty of room without doubling up.
I'm really enjoying your helpful and informative videos. At first I carried front pocket and / or back pocket with a double action only trigger. I stayed with that about 3 years. Sometimes I go back to pocket carry or some other method depending on the situation and the season. After pocket carry I went to shoulder holsters with the other side holding spare magazines for balance and I carried that way for several months, mainly the cooler months. Then for a while I carried strong side hip about the 4:00 o'clock position and spare mags on my other side. Now I like cross draw holsters. I put the cross draw holster on a separate moderately stiff belt over my normal pants belt. Cross draw is carried on my weak side. I like it better than pocket carry and strong side because if drawing while seated or reclined I don't have to bend my body with attention drawing gyrations. Cross draw is not floppy when bending over like it sometimes is with a shoulder holster. Cross draw is a lot faster than other carry methods while seated (except shoulder carry) but it's a little slower to draw than appendix while standing and strong side while standing. It seems much safer to me than appendix carry while doing daily chores and when bending over regularly to pick up things off the ground Cross draw nearly never flags my arm or my body at those times or while seated in my recliner like some other carry methods do. Cross draw is not at all good for open carry because the grip is always toward the people in front of you so you have to continually be aware and take a little extra care if anyone is approacing, so I carry cross draw concealed in public. The first several times I looked at cross draw it looked dorky and was a turn off. I tried cross draw because of thinking about drawing while seated with other types of holsters. After trying cross draw it's so comfortable I sometimes have to touch it with the inside of my wrist to be sure I remembered to put it on. There's been times I fell asleep while reclined and discomfort never woke me up because I was still wearing the holster. I can manage cross draw from any position including sitting reclined in my favorite chair, while driving, while seated in a straight back chair and while seated on a bench.. It's a bit slower getting on target while standing than drawing strong side hip, appendix and shoulder carry. It's much more convenient to remove and replace the entire belt and holster for rest room breaks and bed time than to take the holster off the pants belt and replace the holster back on the pants belt for those times. It might be hard to find a commercially made cross draw holster with your desired cant angle. I haven't tried to find one because I design and make my own holsters and I can easily adjust the cant angle so it's convenient and comfortable. No - I don't make them for the public. I think it's a good idea to be acquainted with and practice with more than one carry method.
While making sure your holster stays in the pocket when drawing is important, even more important is to make sure that the trigger guard is completely covered and that nothing (like change and other small objects) can get in there. That could make for a very bad day.
Never put anything else in the pocket you put your pocket carry firearm. No loose change nothing but the firearm. That way NOTHING THERE FOR THE TRIGGER TO GET BOUND UP ON AND HAVE A SERIOUS NEGLIGENT DISCHARGE . BTW keep your trigger finger outside the trigger guard while drawing your weapon. Need to unload gun and practice practice practice!
I have been pocket carrying a Glock g45 with a red dot for years in 5.11 pants and shorts, they have huge, deep pockets. They also have an extra magazine pocket. So I have about 40 rounds on me at all times and very comfortable.
Solid practical advice. I tried appendix with a Cheetah 380 and an LCRx snubby in 9mm, fine when standing, Same with inside the belt at 4:00, good standing, the problem being when seated in a car or out to eat, not comfortable and can be hard to access. I ended up downsizing to a Tomcat 32 in the front pocket. It's always comfortable, so always carry it. In the winter or when out in the woods I upsize.
I pocket carry every day, in fact it goes into my right front pocket as soon as I put in my pants. It is a Ruger EC9s. I chose the EC9s because I decided when I bought it to put the Crimson Trace laser red dot on it. I wanted the EC9s because it has the smooth slide that won't get caught on my pocket during a draw, hence the red dot. It is there every day when I go to the kitchen to cook my bacon and eggs. I routinely shoot a 5" group at 25 feet, no sweat. So equipped I have only once had anybody notice I was carrying a gun and most of the time I'm wearing Dickies carpenter pants, usually olive drab with matching t-shirt. (I live in Florida.) On my belt is a knife case with a 9 round magazine for it, so I leave the house with 16 rounds. (I NEVER have a round in the chamber unless I'm ready to shoot something.) I keep the gun loaded with Liberty 40 grain aluminum HP that are 2000 fps, and the 9 round mag holds 125 grain Blazer ball ammo. I got this gun because, like you, I know if it isn't comfortable, there's times I'm gonna leave it behind. Also, I don't like pocket holsters: more heat, more bulk, more discomfort. Been carrying it for four years now, never more than ten feet away from me, three when in the shower.
I am a former LEO and I pocket carried on the job, as one of my back up guns(another under my uniform shirt), and still pocket carry now as a civilian. Occasionally the gun in my pocket might be the only one I’m carrying(around the house/yard), but usually my pocket gun is my back up gun, to my primary carry. I do carry a Sig P365 a lot, but others too depending on the need and where I’m going. On the job, I carried a Sig 220, 45 acp most of the time, but also a Colt 1911, 45 acp and a S&W 357 mag at times through the years. U I am a big fan of the 45 acp and the 357 magnum. No matter what I carried as my primary during those years, I always carried another in my pocket. If I could only carry one way, it would be in the pocket.
I like a S&W 642 in a Galco pocket holster-it’s sticky on the outside and always stays in. I constantly practice drawing. I like revolvers because they will fire even when pressed into an attacker’s body (an automatic won’t do that).
It absolutely will fire. It just may not cycle, which is something you must train to remedy, same as you would with a misfire or lock back drill. My agency does this as part of our tactical requirements for years.
I have pocket carried in my right front pocket since the mid 1990s.. I actually can draw from my pocket much quicker than iwb or even outside the belt... My current three pocket carry pistols are..smith 342 airlite ti (titanium cylinder aluminum frame) 11oz .. 38 special centennial.. right front pocket DeSantis Superfly pocket holster with velcro on flap to prevent printing.. my Taurus TCP 380.. loaded with Corbon DPX copper hollow points... And when I'm wearing my super lightweight shorts.. my Kel-Tec p32..gen #1 .. with anti-rim lock kit installed in the magazines and Ioad Hornady xtp hollow points..
Jason....@6:50...6 kids mandate rapid safes. Excellent point. I often hear ignorant people comment on how they don't secure weapons around children because they tell children to not touch guns. Drive of child's curiosity often will overpower parents request ( instruction) trust me... the belt didn't dissuade me when I was a child and almost shot brother in head with Enfield ( Angelic intervention). I totally agree with your view on multiple rapid safes around the house. I will look on your channel and see if you did a review / recommendation on these types of safes. Good info. I alternate my pocket carry between my P365 and my Ruger LCP Max both hold 12 rounds but the Ruger weighs less, ideal when wearing shorts in summertime.
I like the specturm for a pocket carry. No sharp edges and no need for a holster. And I do not care what others say. It has always been reliable and accuraste for what it is.
I also pocket carry a P365 for my EDC in my left pocket (I'm lefty). I've been using a Sticky holster and I've never had it come out of my pocket during dry fire and I practice with different types of jeans and shorts.
I carry a Beretta Tomcat in a sneaky pete holster. Love these holsters as it goes on my belt and you have no idea a gun is inside even if you see the holster. Also very comfortable as it dose not dig into my body as many gun holsters do.

I got my daughter to buy the ppl and my son n law. Know it all took it to his buddy to have it cleaned. Yeah right. It has never worked since. A little suspicious. Don’t you think. @@johnfairchild3421 Definitely nobody should touch others firearms without permission. Sounds like person may have incorrectly reinstalled backstrap or possibly damaged inside of back strap tab. A gunsmith wouldn't be required if this is the case. Part is easily obtainable. If it is not damaged, just needs to be properly aligned. A three second job.
The great feature of Alabama Holsters for pocket carry , in addition to a functional hook that works, is the molded thumb flare at the top of the holster. This gives you a platform to push on with your thumb in order to accelerate your deployment. It just works !
I agree. I bought an Alabama holster for my LCP 2. I also bought an AHolster holster for my LCR and 1 for my EC9S. I so much prefer the thumb push of the Alabama holster. It makes for a clean unobstructed draw from your pocket. Alabama holster for my LCR arrives tomorrow.
For pocket carry I always use a centennial type hammerless design like the 642.. for my 11 oz 342 centennial... I find the double action pull on the centennial much smoother than the double action pull of chief special with a exposed hammer.. in the defensive shooting you are going to use double action anyway you are not going to be cocking the hammer.. you don't want a hammer that's going to snag on your clothing or your pocket when you go to draw
Thank you very much for making this and the other videos you make, I also pocket carry, sticky holster, never been a problem in practice, But I will give the kydex with hook a try. I carry Ruger .380, EC9S, and MAX9, Both the Max and EC9S have stove piped on me at the range, my good high school friend back in the 60’s is now a retired Deputy Sheriff, he carries a 360 as well, guess Ill just have to step up. Great video! I've pocket carried for over 20 years; it's the one method that I can utilize year 'round. Until a few weeks ago when I picked up a P365 (with a safety), I carried Kel-Tec 9mm or snubbies. Yes, I was HIGHLY impressed with the little Sig! I use the flat-base 10rd mag in the gun, plus one in the pipe, with a 17rd mag for reload.

I know you gotta be tired of Fudds comments. However I carry a S&W Model 15 3.5 Inch Barrel in .357 mag I bought from a State Police Trooper. I carry it in a shoulder bag (off body) unless I am outdoors where I use a Milt Sparks horsehide OWB holster. I love most guns and I admire my son with his Taurus G2, which I covet. When in my two place airplane cockpit, I carry my revolver in a shoulder holster because of comfort.

Hi Jason, great video. What is the brand and model of the holster that you displayed? I have looked on line for this holster but cannot find it with the hook on top and bottom. There are several with a bottom hook but not with a top & bottom hook. Thanks, John.
I pocket carry a 1851 Navy in a leather pocket, it is called a holster. It is very comfortable, and easy to draw, and secure with a hammer strap. I do the same with two knives, a homemade fixed blade, and a #10 Opinel also in leather pockets.
I also pocket carry a Sig P365. The best holster I have found is Mika pocket holster. There is no hook on the holster, but whatever material he uses keeps the holster in your pocket! They are quality made, and very affordable. I also carry a Sig P238 if I am wearing pants that demand a little smaller gun. Also use Mika holster with the P238. Highly recommend Mika holsters.
Great review. I agree that pocket carry is the way to go. I carry a beautiful Taurus stainless steel, hammerless,snubnose 38 special with combat grips in a DeSantis nylon composite holster with the hooks as you demonstrated. I practice the quick draw all the time. Thanks for posting.
Love the new pocket carry jeans you can get out there. Flexible denim, secret pockets and mag holders. I have 8 shot 357mag revolver SW327PC model keep in front pocket. But also a 22mg sw351C 7 shots and super light with no recoil.

Man am I glad to hear you say you're right handed and left eye dominant. I'm basically blind in my left eye so I was forced at a young age to switch to shooting rifles lefty. Never switched with a pistol. Still shooting right. Great video.
Hello fellow cross eye problem person. I’m trying to figure out if you draw the gun out of your pocket while sitting in the car is even possible. It seems like you might be dead by the time you can get to it.
Another option to consider is making your own leather holster. Upside is it can be made with a "stay in the pocket" hook, but is much more forgiving in concealment. A leather awl is not that expensive, and sewing heavy material is a valuable skill to learn. Rough side of the leather goes on the outside, smooth side inside. Apply plenty of leather treatment oil and put under a mattress or padded weight the force the leather to eventually conform to the shape. Just an idea that works well for me.
i didnt need a leather awl. I just spaced the holes with a stitching tool and enlarged them a little with a 1/16 bit so I could lock stitch it with dual needles to make it look nice.
I carry a P365 in my front right pocket all the time. I lived in Orlando so it’s hot. When I have swooshy shorts on, I sometimes carry my S&W .38 spl because it’s lighter.
I mostly pocket carry my LCP2 more often than my P365 with a Boraii trigger guard because of the smaller size and weight of the pistol. So small that I have to feel for the pistol to make sure it's still there. When I feel I may need more accuracy is when I pocket carry my P365. The P365 also makes for a great OWB 3 to 4 o'clock position with a 2 clip Clinger holster with comfort pad that conceals very well while still being very comfortable.
I carry a Smith&Wesson Bodyguard .380 that fits in the watch pocket of my jeans nice and snug right below the belt line for easy access. It has good sights along with a laser if you have time for that too.
I like the belly holster insofar it draws quickly and is independent of any clothing. During winter I don't even bother with a holster and put the gun in my right jacket pocket.

This is the second video of yours that I've found, and liked everything you've said so far. So, congrats on a new subscriber. If you get the right pants, you can easily pocket carry a mid to full size pistol. Red Head makes some cargo pants with nice huge (almost too large) pockets but the material is very thin, so I put a cloth in the corner where the hook grabs when I'm doing draw and dry fire practice. TruSpec makes some really nice durable cargo pants, the pockets are a bit smaller, although still large enough for a full to mid size.
I too wear cargo pants. I carry an LCP Max with green laser in the cargo pocket. Main reason is drawing while seated in vehicle, church, etc. That way my lighter, chapstick, change and keys can go in my front pocket along with my Benchmade can stay in it's pocket clip spot.
I just seen my favorite 🖊 pen.👍and I believe we should practice drawing our pen from a sitting position and different positions you just never know what kind of situation you will find so be prepared.
I pocket carry my Springfield Hellcat Pro with a Crimson Trace Rad Micro Pro green dot sight in a Alabama Pocket Holster every single day. It’s never once been detected by friends, coworkers, or the general public. I’m a journalist by trade and I’m around people from all walks of life every day, including law enforcement, elected and appointed officials, etc. It can be done. 15+1 rounds of Lehigh Xtreme Defender.90 grain +P rounds loaded by Underwood Ammo. My draw from the pocket is just as fast and efficient as friends who appendix carry.
The sticky holsters are a very comfortable pocket holster as well as an IWB. I’ve got one for my XDM that I use for IWB but my favorite gun to carry WITH THE stick Holster is my P938 in the pocket.
Solid information. I see pocket carry as a drawback when driving with seat belt. Getting one out in a hurry is a way to put a hole into your knee cap. Suggest cross carry.
I totally with you on the pocket carry; I pocket carry a Seecamp 32 in a Del Fatti PH-3 holster (excellent holster BTW); I occasionally pocket carry a P938 and at times the P365, but I haven't found a holster that I love as much as the Del Fatti; recently put in an order for the Nightingale SparrowHawk PH, which is shaped a lot like the Del Fatti, and probably on the same quality level. Once I have the Nightingale the P938 will probably go back into my pocket more often, maybe the P365 (heavier than the P938).
I 'inherited' my wife`s .38 special when she passed (perfect size for many things) I just bought a used 9mm from the local pawn shop, S&W (I haven`t shot it, but the trigger will take some getting used to.)

Good video & makes masterly good sense. The trouble is finding a kydex pocket model with both lower AND upper "hooks" for assured separation, and I've been at it for WEEKS. Just where did hansen get his holster???
I've got a bunch of serious suggestions to how/what you pocket carry: I too started out with the Sig P365 as soon as the 'gen. 2' came out fixing the issues experienced with the new product. I subsequently converted it to the newer P365X (with a Sig flat trigger [a matter of personal choice, but highly recommended] and the larger frame), since it has a far better single piece grip (and I always carried the 12 round mag) and larger beaver tail for a more secure hold. I also added a larger mag release (another highly recommended personal choice). All that cost less than $100. I then added a Magguts +2 kit (about $35 ea.), so I'm now carrying 14+1 with the standard Sig 12 round mag (with a similar spare in my back pocket, on a Neomag holder). I then added a Nightstick TSM13G rechargeable combo light/green laser, for very rapid (and illuminated) target acquisition--even when I can't use my iron sights (like when I'm behind cover). With this, there's no need for a red dot sight, which isn't conducive to pocket carry anyway, and needs a different slide. And all of this fits nicely into my non-printing DeSantis Super Fly Pocket Holster w/Flap, which is designed to stay in your pocket. I went with the one for the Glock 43X, recommended to me by DeSantis, since it's a tad larger than the standard P365 one and will fit the light/laser after the removal of a few stitches on the open side (resecured with a rivet). Next up is ammo, and from a previous video I recall you prefer hollow point ammo. While excellent for larger (5" and up) barrels, HP ammo sucks in the P365s. My well researched suggestion: Underwood's 90 (or 68) gr. +P Xtreme Defender. Its solid copper, fluted point projectile is barrier blind, and will produce a larger wound track than even the best HPs shot from larger barrels, because of 'cavitation'. It will also have reduced felt recoil because of the slightly lighter projectile (with no loss of muzzle energy). For more info on these, see the 51 page multi-bullet/caliber analysis for law enforcement (entitled: 2016/17 JOINT AGENCY BALLISTICS TEST FOR DEFENSIVE HANDGUN AMMUNITION) that reached the following unqualified conclusion about the Underwood Xtreme Defender (when compared to 71 different mainstream handgun rounds in 8 calibers): "Overall: This was by far the most impressive round tested. After over a year of testing this round became the most requested round to test after some of the agencies reviewed draft shot data." 4:45 Thanks for bringing up the eye dominance thing. I've heard various gun guys say for some time that you have to keep both eyes open but I was always a little suspicious that they were wrong.
I have pocket carried for 3 decades, cargo pants and shorts work well. I use a firearm with a safety that blocks the hammer, firing pin and trigger. The safety and reliability issues have driven my decision however I may be looking to reduce weight. Please think about a shopping/feature comparison video for pocket pistols.
I always carry an LCP in a DeSantis Holster designed for use with a Laser Sight (which my pistol doesn't have) in the right hip pocket. It has never come out with the holster unless I intentionally "pinch" it to the slide with the thumb and forefinger. That said I may also be carrying a G30S on the belt or a Colt DS in a jacket pocket depending on circumstances. The people that make a big deal out carry method, caliber or platforn I don't put a lot of trust in. By far the most important thing is to carry, then reliability, then proficiency.
I’ve pocket carried for years, LCP Max in my L/F pocket (southpaw) in a Kydex pocket holster similar to the one you show on the video. Prior to carrying the Max it was a J Frame also in a pocket holster.

Sounds like you might want to take a look at the Vedder Pocket Locker holster. Been pocket carry nirvana for me. Has great hook and thumb press to release the holster. Complete trigger protection.
You could also use a "blue gun" if you have not already purchased and trained with a particular weapon. If the weight and balance is the same as your weapon loaded, that is best.
Interesting. I’ve never been in the CIA but I was a Federal Agent for 30 years. I also wear cargo pants. I carry a 9mm in my front right pocket holstered in an Uncle Mikes inside the pocket holster and I have never had a problem drawing the weapon. In the pocket below my gun I carry a knife, this way nothing gets tangled up when I draw my weapon. In my front left pocket I carry a loaded 9mm magazine and in the pocket below that I carry a small flashlight. I’ve been carrying it this way for years as part of my EDC. Stay safe.
I'm a retired LEO and carry with the Uncle Mikes in my right front pocket also. The size 3 will fit either a G43 or a 5 shot J frame.

My wife is right hand/left eye dominant. She shoots a pistol fine, but has trouble getting her head in position to shoot a rifle.
Reflex sight fixes that! Both eyes open!

Older I get more I realize I need a laser on pistol or red dot.
Get a Crimson Trace Green laser. They work and are great for low light and out to about 5 yards. I have them on ALL of my pistols/revolvers. I have used them since they came out, in the 90s I think.
A huge positive for the laser is that they are excellent for dry fire training. Just seeing what the laser is doing when you press the trigger is priceless. @@keebz75
@@keebz75 Go with a laser I have 9 hand guns 6 of them have green lasers on them & one green dot. When I started becoming an old fart I realized I needed them makes things much better like anything there's a learning curve but if your an avid gun handler it's pretty quick.
Nice job with this video. I'm a retired LE officer as well. I've pocket carried for nearly 25 years and it's a great option. First a Glock 27, then a Kahr PM9 and currently a S&W 360PD. One thing that I've found is to make sure the handgun cannot fall out if your knocked to the ground or end up grappling with an assailant. Being a martial artist I know that lots of fights end up on the ground. It could be a disaster if the handgun came out. A lot of pocket holsters have no retention on them. The pant, design, size and material of the pocket is almost as important as the holster itself! Like you; I have a box of holsters I've tried and now are stored for good. The best holster I've found a is Mitch Rosen. The holster is specifically designed for each weapon and there's just enough retention to prevent the weapon from coming out unintentionally, but it can be drawn and not come out with the gun.. Lastly, practice falling to the ground, etc. and see if the gun falls out. Just my two cents. Thanks for sharing

I have pocket carried a J frame unholstered in my right front pocket for years and never had an issue. Super fast draw, comfortable and very concealable.

"Sticky Holster" does not have hooks but feels sticky on the outside of the holster which contacts the fabric inside the pocket. Drawing the pistol works well as the inside of the holster which contacts the firearm is smooth/slick.
I have a sticky for a holster and an LCP for my back pocket. Easy to pull. no issues in being uncomfortable!
Yes, Vedder makes a hooked pocked holster that stays in the pocket. The LCP Max is a good choice for pocket pistol.
I use a tulster iwb holster almost everyday but, when i pocket carry, i use an alabama holster. I like it most because the outside facing kydex is curved so it doesn't print at all. Hope that helps anyone looking. 👌

FYI: I wear Duluth Trading Co. "firehose work pants" that have a small hidden pocket inside the front right pocket that makes a great "holster" for a pocket gun. I've worn those pants carrying a Sig P365 and my S&W Bodyguard 380 and both of those guns stay put in that hidden pocket all day. I have a Ruger LCR 9mm that also can be pocket carried in the same way too. Very comfortable carry and the pants don't print that you're concealed carrying. Check them out.

Hi Richard. It's not specified as a pocket for a concealed carry pistol. However, it does work for both my Sig P365 and for my S&W Bodyguard 380. It's inside the front right pocket. I like the flex firehouse work pants which are very comfortable.@@richarde1355
I have pocket carried a S&W 340 M&P .357 revolver for many years. My old pocket holster would sometimes come out with the gun. I recently switched to a Sticky pocket holster which ALWAYS stays in the pocket when the gun is drawn. It has no hooks or other gadgets, nor is it "sticky" but it is made of a material which "clings" to cloth. It is also quite inexpensive. I highly recommend it.

I carry a Sig P365 in a Desantis pocket holster that has a hook. It covers the trigger,the outside of the holster has a rubber stipled texture the inside has a smooth lining. I have precticed my draw countless times and everytime the holster stays in my pocket. I have used this method for 4 years and works great no printing,no shirt to pullup and I can draw my gun very fast and I have a thumb safety on it for safety and if you don't need or want a thumb safety that's not very safe and if you train enough the safety is no problem you have to sweep your thumb over the gun anyway so why not remember the first thing about guns. Safety!
In a pocket? Carry it in a lint-free (sealed at the bottom) sticky-holster, which will keep it oriented correctly, clean, dry and mask the printing. If it’s a sem- auto, don’t forget to clean it from time to time. Practice getting it out regularly. Keeping your finger outside of the trigger guard. It’s a little tricky. That’s all you need to know.

I bought a pair of Wrangler jeans with that 'stretch' material. They are supposed to be the exact same size as the relaxed fit non-stretch version. The stretch pair are way more comfortable than the non-stretch version, but the pockets are at least 50% deeper than any of my others. My thoughts are that they were made for pocket carry. I don't have a proper holster, so I haven't tried it.
As an aside, front pocket carry seems to solve the problem of what to do with the gun when using the rest room away from home. Just leave it in your pocket. Easy!
Surprised you have a knife in the same pocket as your pistol. I see you almost lost it when drawing the pistol, which is much better than it getting in the way and preventing a clean draw. I carry a knife, or two, and I carry a pistol. They get their own pockets. With cargo pants, there is plenty of room without doubling up.

I'm really enjoying your helpful and informative videos.
At first I carried front pocket and / or back pocket with a double action only trigger. I stayed with that about 3 years. Sometimes I go back to pocket carry or some other method depending on the situation and the season.
After pocket carry I went to shoulder holsters with the other side holding spare magazines for balance and I carried that way for several months, mainly the cooler months.
Then for a while I carried strong side hip about the 4:00 o'clock position and spare mags on my other side.
Now I like cross draw holsters. I put the cross draw holster on a separate moderately stiff belt over my normal pants belt. Cross draw is carried on my weak side. I like it better than pocket carry and strong side because if drawing while seated or reclined I don't have to bend my body with attention drawing gyrations. Cross draw is not floppy when bending over like it sometimes is with a shoulder holster. Cross draw is a lot faster than other carry methods while seated (except shoulder carry) but it's a little slower to draw than appendix while standing and strong side while standing.
It seems much safer to me than appendix carry while doing daily chores and when bending over regularly to pick up things off the ground Cross draw nearly never flags my arm or my body at those times or while seated in my recliner like some other carry methods do.
Cross draw is not at all good for open carry because the grip is always toward the people in front of you so you have to continually be aware and take a little extra care if anyone is approacing, so I carry cross draw concealed in public.
The first several times I looked at cross draw it looked dorky and was a turn off. I tried cross draw because of thinking about drawing while seated with other types of holsters. After trying cross draw it's so comfortable I sometimes have to touch it with the inside of my wrist to be sure I remembered to put it on. There's been times I fell asleep while reclined and discomfort never woke me up because I was still wearing the holster.
I can manage cross draw from any position including sitting reclined in my favorite chair, while driving, while seated in a straight back chair and while seated on a bench.. It's a bit slower getting on target while standing than drawing strong side hip, appendix and shoulder carry.
It's much more convenient to remove and replace the entire belt and holster for rest room breaks and bed time than to take the holster off the pants belt and replace the holster back on the pants belt for those times.
It might be hard to find a commercially made cross draw holster with your desired cant angle. I haven't tried to find one because I design and make my own holsters and I can easily adjust the cant angle so it's convenient and comfortable. No - I don't make them for the public.
I think it's a good idea to be acquainted with and practice with more than one carry method.

While making sure your holster stays in the pocket when drawing is important, even more important is to make sure that the trigger guard is completely covered and that nothing (like change and other small objects) can get in there. That could make for a very bad day.
Why put anything else in that pocket other than your holster and pistol ?
Never put anything else in the pocket you put your pocket carry firearm. No loose change nothing but the firearm. That way NOTHING THERE FOR THE TRIGGER TO GET BOUND UP ON AND HAVE A SERIOUS NEGLIGENT DISCHARGE
. BTW keep your trigger finger outside the trigger guard while drawing your weapon. Need to unload gun and practice practice practice!

You don’t necessarily need a holster when pocket carrying. However, know your pockets. Make sure they can handle the weight, etc.

I have been pocket carrying a Glock g45 with a red dot for years in 5.11 pants and shorts, they have huge, deep pockets. They also have an extra magazine pocket. So I have about 40 rounds on me at all times and very comfortable.

Solid practical advice. I tried appendix with a Cheetah 380 and an LCRx snubby in 9mm, fine when standing, Same with inside the belt at 4:00, good standing, the problem being when seated in a car or out to eat, not comfortable and can be hard to access. I ended up downsizing to a Tomcat 32 in the front pocket. It's always comfortable, so always carry it. In the winter or when out in the woods I upsize.
I pocket carry every day, in fact it goes into my right front pocket as soon as I put in my pants. It is a Ruger EC9s. I chose the EC9s because I decided when I bought it to put the Crimson Trace laser red dot on it. I wanted the EC9s because it has the smooth slide that won't get caught on my pocket during a draw, hence the red dot. It is there every day when I go to the kitchen to cook my bacon and eggs. I routinely shoot a 5" group at 25 feet, no sweat.
So equipped I have only once had anybody notice I was carrying a gun and most of the time I'm wearing Dickies carpenter pants, usually olive drab with matching t-shirt. (I live in Florida.) On my belt is a knife case with a 9 round magazine for it, so I leave the house with 16 rounds. (I NEVER have a round in the chamber unless I'm ready to shoot something.) I keep the gun loaded with Liberty 40 grain aluminum HP that are 2000 fps, and the 9 round mag holds 125 grain Blazer ball ammo.
I got this gun because, like you, I know if it isn't comfortable, there's times I'm gonna leave it behind. Also, I don't like pocket holsters: more heat, more bulk, more discomfort. Been carrying it for four years now, never more than ten feet away from me, three when in the shower.

I am a former LEO and I pocket carried on the job, as one of my back up guns(another under my uniform shirt), and still pocket carry now as a civilian. Occasionally the gun in my pocket might be the only one I’m carrying(around the house/yard), but usually my pocket gun is my back up gun, to my primary carry.
I do carry a Sig P365 a lot, but others too depending on the need and where I’m going.
On the job, I carried a Sig 220, 45 acp most of the time, but also a Colt 1911, 45 acp and a S&W 357 mag at times through the years. U
I am a big fan of the 45 acp and the 357 magnum. No matter what I carried as my primary during those years, I always carried another in my pocket.
If I could only carry one way, it would be in the pocket.
I like a S&W 642 in a Galco pocket holster-it’s sticky on the outside and always stays in. I constantly practice drawing. I like revolvers because they will fire even when pressed into an attacker’s body (an automatic won’t do that).
It absolutely will fire. It just may not cycle, which is something you must train to remedy, same as you would with a misfire or lock back drill. My agency does this as part of our tactical requirements for years.
Mind you, I am NOT knocking the revolver option-please understand.
I have pocket carried in my right front pocket since the mid 1990s.. I actually can draw from my pocket much quicker than iwb or even outside the belt... My current three pocket carry pistols are..smith 342 airlite ti (titanium cylinder aluminum frame) 11oz .. 38 special centennial.. right front pocket DeSantis Superfly pocket holster with velcro on flap to prevent printing.. my Taurus TCP 380.. loaded with Corbon DPX copper hollow points... And when I'm wearing my super lightweight shorts.. my Kel-Tec p32..gen #1 .. with anti-rim lock kit installed in the magazines and Ioad Hornady xtp hollow points..

Jason....@6:50...6 kids mandate rapid safes. Excellent point. I often hear ignorant people comment on how they don't secure weapons around children because they tell children to not touch guns. Drive of child's curiosity often will overpower parents request ( instruction) trust me... the belt didn't dissuade me when I was a child and almost shot brother in head with Enfield ( Angelic intervention).

Good info. I alternate my pocket carry between my P365 and my Ruger LCP Max both hold 12 rounds but the Ruger weighs less, ideal when wearing shorts in summertime.
I like the specturm for a pocket carry. No sharp edges and no need for a holster. And I do not care what others say. It has always been reliable and accuraste for what it is.
I also pocket carry a P365 for my EDC in my left pocket (I'm lefty). I've been using a Sticky holster and I've never had it come out of my pocket during dry fire and I practice with different types of jeans and shorts.
I carry a Beretta Tomcat in a sneaky pete holster. Love these holsters as it goes on my belt and you have no idea a gun is inside even if you see the holster. Also very comfortable as it dose not dig into my body as many gun holsters do.

I'm a big fan of the Ruger LCR in .357 magnum for pocket carry. Love having the choice of .357 or .38 ammo.

Pocket carry is a excellent choice for carrying concealed. One of my preferred method. Walther PPS M1 is the pistol I tend to carry in the pocket.
I got my daughter to buy the ppl and my son n law. Know it all took it to his buddy to have it cleaned. Yeah right. It has never worked since. A little suspicious. Don’t you think. His fr spent twenty years in the Army. So I am gonna bring it to a real gunsmith. And I told her do not ever never let anyone touch your. Firearm period. Period. I had cleaned it. @@johnfairchild3421 Definitely nobody should touch others firearms without permission. Sounds like person may have incorrectly reinstalled backstrap or possibly damaged inside of back strap tab. A gunsmith wouldn't be required if this is the case. Part is easily obtainable. If it is not damaged, just needs to be properly aligned. A three second job.

The great feature of Alabama Holsters for pocket carry , in addition to a functional hook that works, is the molded thumb flare at the top of the holster. This gives you a platform to push on with your thumb in order to accelerate your deployment. It just works !
I agree. I bought an Alabama holster for my LCP 2. I also bought an AHolster holster for my LCR and 1 for my EC9S. I so much prefer the thumb push of the Alabama holster. It makes for a clean unobstructed draw from your pocket. Alabama holster for my LCR arrives tomorrow.
I absolutely love my Vedder pocket holster and it has the hook! SIG P365 with the XL grip module. It's in my front right pocket 16 hours a day!

For pocket carry I always use a centennial type hammerless design like the 642.. for my 11 oz 342 centennial... I find the double action pull on the centennial much smoother than the double action pull of chief special with a exposed hammer.. in the defensive shooting you are going to use double action anyway you are not going to be cocking the hammer.. you don't want a hammer that's going to snag on your clothing or your pocket when you go to draw

Thank you very much for making this and the other videos you make, I also pocket carry, sticky holster, never been a problem in practice, But I will give the kydex with hook a try. I carry Ruger .380, EC9S, and MAX9, Both the Max and EC9S have stove piped on me at the range, my good high school friend back in the 60’s is now a retired Deputy Sheriff, he carries a 360 as well, guess Ill just have to step up. Great video! I've pocket carried for over 20 years; it's the one method that I can utilize year 'round. Until a few weeks ago when I picked up a P365 (with a safety), I carried Kel-Tec 9mm or snubbies. Yes, I was HIGHLY impressed with the little Sig! I use the flat-base 10rd mag in the gun, plus one in the pipe, with a 17rd mag for reload.

I know you gotta be tired of Fudds comments. However I carry a S&W Model 15 3.5 Inch Barrel in .357 mag I bought from a State Police Trooper. I carry it in a shoulder bag (off body) unless I am outdoors where I use a Milt Sparks horsehide OWB holster. I love most guns and I admire my son with his Taurus G2, which I covet. When in my two place airplane cockpit, I carry my revolver in a shoulder holster because of comfort.

I pocket carry a 1851 Navy in a leather pocket, it is called a holster. It is very comfortable, and easy to draw, and secure with a hammer strap. I do the same with two knives, a homemade fixed blade, and a #10 Opinel also in leather pockets.

I also pocket carry a Sig P365. The best holster I have found is Mika pocket holster. There is no hook on the holster, but whatever material he uses keeps the holster in your pocket! They are quality made, and very affordable. I also carry a Sig P238 if I am wearing pants that demand a little smaller gun. Also use Mika holster with the P238. Highly recommend Mika holsters.

Love the new pocket carry jeans you can get out there. Flexible denim, secret pockets and mag holders. I have 8 shot 357mag revolver SW327PC model keep in front pocket. But also a 22mg sw351C 7 shots and super light with no recoil.

Packing in my right pocket of relax fit jean is okay and I carry Springfield Hellcat (no snags, 12+ rounds and a good trigger ). Okay is okay ,but not every day. Muck appreciated heads up Sir .

Hello fellow cross eye problem person. I’m trying to figure out if you draw the gun out of your pocket while sitting in the car is even possible. It seems like you might be dead by the time you can get to it.
Another option to consider is making your own leather holster. Upside is it can be made with a "stay in the pocket" hook, but is much more forgiving in concealment. A leather awl is not that expensive, and sewing heavy material is a valuable skill to learn.
Rough side of the leather goes on the outside, smooth side inside. Apply plenty of leather treatment oil and put under a mattress or padded weight the force the leather to eventually conform to the shape.
Just an idea that works well for me.

i didnt need a leather awl. I just spaced the holes with a stitching tool and enlarged them a little with a 1/16 bit so I could lock stitch it with dual needles to make it look nice.
I carry a P365 in my front right pocket all the time. I lived in Orlando so it’s hot. When I have swooshy shorts on, I sometimes carry my S&W .38 spl because it’s lighter.

I mostly pocket carry my LCP2 more often than my P365 with a Boraii trigger guard because of the smaller size and weight of the pistol. So small that I have to feel for the pistol to make sure it's still there. When I feel I may need more accuracy is when I pocket carry my P365. The P365 also makes for a great OWB 3 to 4 o'clock position with a 2 clip Clinger holster with comfort pad that conceals very well while still being very comfortable.

I carry a Smith&Wesson Bodyguard .380 that fits in the watch pocket of my jeans nice and snug right below the belt line for easy access. It has good sights along with a laser if you have time for that too.
I like the belly holster insofar it draws quickly and is independent of any clothing. During winter I don't even bother with a holster and put the gun in my right jacket pocket.
I've been carrying a 5in 1911 45acp for 40yrs iwb and a cz sp01 since 2002 iwb. No issues thus far.

Thumb over revolver cocking spur while drawing is good to help it clear without snagging. But concealed hammer is preferred by many.

This is the second video of yours that I've found, and liked everything you've said so far. So, congrats on a new subscriber. If you get the right pants, you can easily pocket carry a mid to full size pistol. Red Head makes some cargo pants with nice huge (almost too large) pockets but the material is very thin, so I put a cloth in the corner where the hook grabs when I'm doing draw and dry fire practice. TruSpec makes some really nice durable cargo pants, the pockets are a bit smaller, although still large enough for a full to mid size.

I too wear cargo pants. I carry an LCP Max with green laser in the cargo pocket. Main reason is drawing while seated in vehicle, church, etc. That way my lighter, chapstick, change and keys can go in my front pocket along with my Benchmade can stay in it's pocket clip spot.

I pocket carry my Springfield Hellcat Pro with a Crimson Trace Rad Micro Pro green dot sight in a Alabama Pocket Holster every single day. It’s never once been detected by friends, coworkers, or the general public. I’m a journalist by trade and I’m around people from all walks of life every day, including law enforcement, elected and appointed officials, etc.
It can be done. 15+1 rounds of Lehigh Xtreme Defender.90 grain +P rounds loaded by Underwood Ammo.
My draw from the pocket is just as fast and efficient as friends who appendix carry.

I pocket carry a lcp or lcp max... I own both... I use the sticky holsters and desantis holsters... I don't want people knowing I am carrying...
The sticky holsters are a very comfortable pocket holster as well as an IWB. I’ve got one for my XDM that I use for IWB but my favorite gun to carry WITH THE stick Holster is my P938 in the pocket.

Solid information. I see pocket carry as a drawback when driving with seat belt. Getting one out in a hurry is a way to put a hole into your knee cap. Suggest cross carry.

I totally with you on the pocket carry; I pocket carry a Seecamp 32 in a Del Fatti PH-3 holster (excellent holster BTW); I occasionally pocket carry a P938 and at times the P365, but I haven't found a holster that I love as much as the Del Fatti; recently put in an order for the Nightingale SparrowHawk PH, which is shaped a lot like the Del Fatti, and probably on the same quality level. Once I have the Nightingale the P938 will probably go back into my pocket more often, maybe the P365 (heavier than the P938).

I 'inherited' my wife`s .38 special when she passed (perfect size for many things) I just bought a used 9mm from the local pawn shop, S&W (I haven`t shot it, but the trigger will take some getting used to.)

Good video & makes masterly good sense. The trouble is finding a kydex pocket model with both lower AND upper "hooks" for assured separation, and I've been at it for WEEKS. Just where did hansen get his holster???
I use the P365 as well. The DeSantis U2 pocket holster is perfect for the gun and laser. With a too big waistline, pocket carry is a great way to go.

I've got a bunch of serious suggestions to how/what you pocket carry: I too started out with the Sig P365 as soon as the 'gen. 2' came out fixing the issues experienced with the new product. I subsequently converted it to the newer P365X (with a Sig flat trigger [a matter of personal choice, but highly recommended] and the larger frame), since it has a far better single piece grip (and I always carried the 12 round mag) and larger beaver tail for a more secure hold. I also added a larger mag release (another highly recommended personal choice). All that cost less than $100. I then added a Magguts +2 kit (about $35 ea.), so I'm now carrying 14+1 with the standard Sig 12 round mag (with a similar spare in my back pocket, on a Neomag holder). I then added a Nightstick TSM13G rechargeable combo light/green laser, for very rapid (and illuminated) target acquisition--even when I can't use my iron sights (like when I'm behind cover). With this, there's no need for a red dot sight, which isn't conducive to pocket carry anyway, and needs a different slide. And all of this fits nicely into my non-printing DeSantis Super Fly Pocket Holster w/Flap, which is designed to stay in your pocket. I went with the one for the Glock 43X, recommended to me by DeSantis, since it's a tad larger than the standard P365 one and will fit the light/laser after the removal of a few stitches on the open side (resecured with a rivet). Next up is ammo, and from a previous video I recall you prefer hollow point ammo. While excellent for larger (5" and up) barrels, HP ammo sucks in the P365s. My well researched suggestion: Underwood's 90 (or 68) gr. +P Xtreme Defender. Its solid copper, fluted point projectile is barrier blind, and will produce a larger wound track than even the best HPs shot from larger barrels, because of 'cavitation'. It will also have reduced felt recoil because of the slightly lighter projectile (with no loss of muzzle energy). For more info on these, see the 51 page multi-bullet/caliber analysis for law enforcement (entitled: 2016/17 JOINT AGENCY BALLISTICS TEST FOR DEFENSIVE HANDGUN AMMUNITION) that reached the following unqualified conclusion about the Underwood Xtreme Defender (when compared to 71 different mainstream handgun rounds in 8 calibers): "Overall: This was by far the most impressive round tested. After over a year of testing this round became the most requested round to test after some of the agencies reviewed draft shot data." I have pocket carried for 3 decades, cargo pants and shorts work well. I use a firearm with a safety that blocks the hammer, firing pin and trigger. The safety and reliability issues have driven my decision however I may be looking to reduce weight. Please think about a shopping/feature comparison video for pocket pistols.
I always carry an LCP in a DeSantis Holster designed for use with a Laser Sight (which my pistol doesn't have) in the right hip pocket. It has never come out with the holster unless I intentionally "pinch" it to the slide with the thumb and forefinger.
That said I may also be carrying a G30S on the belt or a Colt DS in a jacket pocket depending on circumstances.
The people that make a big deal out carry method, caliber or platforn I don't put a lot of trust in. By far the most important thing is to carry, then reliability, then proficiency.
I’ve pocket carried for years, LCP Max in my L/F pocket (southpaw) in a Kydex pocket holster similar to the one you show on the video. Prior to carrying the Max it was a J Frame also in a pocket holster.

Sounds like you might want to take a look at the Vedder Pocket Locker holster. Been pocket carry nirvana for me. Has great hook and thumb press to release the holster. Complete trigger protection.

You could also use a "blue gun" if you have not already purchased and trained with a particular weapon. If the weight and balance is the same as your weapon loaded, that is best.
