It wouldn't make sense for ER to give PDR the same way as armour as that would be extremely convoluted due to how armour works. It could be that they are doing it this way with this wording so that you can't scale armour to huge values by adding evasion on top of it, but it'd be a first from GGG to make a mechanic in such way... Though to be honest if it was the way Conner described it should've used "Evasion Chance" and not Evasion Rating, as ER is checked vs enemie's accuracy perhaps in a similar fashion as Armour is checked vs damage taken, and the Evasion Chance shown in the character stat cheet, as far as PoE1 goes, is just an approximation based on average accuracy of an enemy of the same level as the character's level (capped to 86). I'm not quite sure on the Invoker PDR node. It says Evasion Rating, not Evasion or Chance to Evade. It might just be Iron Reflexes-like with a big hit to EV rating.
I think Invoker PDR does work that way due to comparing some language. Typically when passive skills have “X grants Y”, particularly when X is an attribute/stat, the “grants” wording indicates that the Y effect is folded into X’s inherent scaling. Without the Invoker notable, Evasion Rating inherently grants a % chance to Evade per some amount of increasing rating. With the notable, I believe it would simply *also* grant a % PDR. Whether or not that % is 1:1 with the base chance to Evade scaling is up to balancing, but it should be proportional.
As for that proportionality, I’m leaning that it IS 1:1 due to GGG’s past language around changing inherent scaling. I would expect the notable to say something like “Evasion Rating also grants Physical Damage Reduction at half of its effectiveness” if the scaling was 2:1. The downside of 40% less Evasion Rating is significant enough that such a proportionality is unnecessary, probably.
@@DantesBlowtorch Evasion rating does not give your character a blanket % chance to evade. Chance to evade is a function of the defender's evasion rating and the attacker's accuracy rating. I don't see GGG letting that node give characters PDR based on their character sheet's % chance to evade since that is calculated based on the average accuracy rating of monsters in zones at that character's level. It's much more likely that there is some behind the scenes calculation to give a PDR number based on evasion rating and people will have to figure it out after we get into the EA

Gonna be doing Acolyte Flicker, ES stacking as well as leeching with mana is gonna feel good, I'm sure there's something unrevealed that will help. Not sure if I'm speccing into Breach but it would make sense for the skill.
I think you're misunderstanding ".. and protect me from harm". It's evasion RATING that applies to physical damage reduction, not your evade chance. It's basically equivalent to saying that it's armour, except that it isn't affected by armour break effects and doesn't count as armour for things that modify armor. So it's like a partial Iron Reflexes that scales solely on modifiers to evasion rating rather than armor nodes.
Maybe I misunderstood GGG, but I thought they said you also wouldn't be able to respec your ascendancy skills as well, so once you lock in a node it is stuck forever, meaning you cannot take a node then unspec it later to grab two other nodes. Are we certain that node 2 of the invoker wont just make evasion also act as armour? Isn't the wording for armour estimated physical damage reduction?
Very good analysis, are we sure demon form takes degen as fire? I tought it was straight up damage and couldnt be reduced. If its fire dmg than this ascendency is in the top 3 for me
Am I missing something on decimating strike and witchbane interaction? Wouldn't the two synergize well as the decimation strike just counts towards you breaking concentration effectively also increasing your no mercy damage too.

I think it is that there are only 2 of 3 trials… you can mix and match the trials or get all of the ascendancy points in one trial. The trials have 4 stages/levels … you need to get a coin, where based on the coins level, will grant you 1,2,3, or 4 stages/levels of the trial. The coin’s level is based on the content level… so you will be able to get all 8 points and you can get them from either or both trials (once you acquire the coins). The first time you complete each stage (in any trial) you get that stage’s 2 ascendancy points. So the first and only the first time you finish stage/levels 1, you get two points. If you run the same trial a second time or a different trial and finish stage/level 1 you do NOT get 2 points. You need to get a coin with 2+ stages and complete stage/level 2 to get the 3rd and 4th point… then get a coin with 3+ stages/levels to get point 5,6… then a coin with 4 stages/levels and complete it to get point 7 and 8. (Alternatively, if you waited to get a coin or maybe buy a coin on trade with 4 stages/levels you can just do all 8 points in one run… no one will do that on their first character but could potentially do that on a second or third character) sorry to overkill this comment, hopefully it will help others to understand.
I am having a hard time. My current choices are
Time magic!!! I mean it's time magic... Seems new and fun with a high skill ceiling.
Dark monk seems legit
Merc.... New playstyle to wrap my head around and looks like amazing damage. Especially trash clear looks like a *cough cough* blast.
Chayula looks good on paper if you are not melee and want to paly Archmage+ES+MOM. Cast some firestorm and dodge boss abilities, while ganing insta leach and picking Flames wich is also regen and chaos damage.
Isn't the wording for armour estimated physical damage reduction?
charms work with flask charges, no?
Very good analysis, are we sure demon form takes degen as fire? I tought it was straight up damage and couldnt be reduced. If its fire dmg than this ascendency is in the top 3 for me
Apparently it might be straight degen and you lose weapons so nvm demon forms bad
My body is ready
for chonk just play flicker strike and dont worry about picking up buffs, just do it randomly and automatically 4Head :)
Am I missing something on decimating strike and witchbane interaction? Wouldn't the two synergize well as the decimation strike just counts towards you breaking concentration effectively also increasing your no mercy damage too.
Broken concentration should have duration same as broken armour. Also DS is remove life not hit się should not worki.
Unless u realy struggle with Bosses mechanics that ascendacy is not worth pick imho.
Decimating strike does yes I misspoke there. Culling is negative synergy with it since it's dmg that doesn't contribute
my friends monk on closed realm has 70%evasion and pdr so that last point you made about monk is valid and does work.
Evasion has no fixed %. I think that node on the Invoker just makes evasion also be armour.
prob like iron reflexes
chronomancer is gonna be in the trash can
I'm not saying it's optimal, but I think a lot of people are going to have a lot of fun with it. And we are going to see groups do nutty things with it in killing pinnacle bosses.
idk 6 hotg sounds good.
@Conner Converse Isnt the Block node on Warbringer Active Block effect overwriting passive Block? As i understood i would get 100% dmg reduction when shield is not raised as opposed to blocking attacks thats were unblockable before?
thought you just had block like in poe1 with it without needing to have shield raised
@@Manzanahh yes you have passive block is based on blockchance and reduces damage taken by 50%. active block is an additional feature and while actively blocking you reduce dmg by 100% but you take dmg to a stamina bar. if stamina breaks you get stunned.
@jinkxy2370 you get staggered not stunned i believe
@@Manzanahh might be called staggered wasnt sure on the terminology for that effect.
@jinkxy2370 yeah hopefully they hit the mark on melee def and atk this timebaround looks so good
Enhanced Effectivness looks about as strong as Hulking Form on the right builds since attributes give way more health/mana than in poe 1.
I'm pretty sure evasion rating is just evasion number. It's not a chance to evade. So to me, it reads evasion is also your armour
that would be the same as Iron Reflexes on the tree, i highly doubt they would make an identically functioning effect with different language
@@DantesBlowtorchiron reflexes converts your evasion rating to armor, this would make your evasion rating apply to both
@@taylorgravely2004 the text on the ascendancy notable is very clear that it adds Physical Damage Reduction, which is explicitly not Armour
@@DantesBlowtorch yeah, this right here, any where PDR was explicitly said in poe, it was percent. It doesn't say ESTIMATED pdr like armor does
The wording I'd flat phys not rating
You don't think Elemental Expression can be good on Invoker?
Curious about the 50% increase to small passives. Does it round up? For example for the +1 to max res nodes would it have any effect?
in poe1 all rounds down, no way it's rounds up in poe2
so either tanky evasion monk or
mana stacking lignting spell witch or
abuse one of the the 400 new mobs as spectre (witch?)
for me.
360p gang
with as little offense I can possibly say this with, where can I find the fextralife video? I know it got taken down but im a slimy fuck and need to know more info
Was going to go chayula monk as it seemed OP think I will go invoker monk instead :)
Can you respec ascendency nodes with weapon trees?
Just for confirmation we can have 6 points for ascendancies or 8 ?
8
So pretty much with the arcane surge passive wouldn’t archmage just be disgustingly tanky due to mana regen? And the insane attack speed. Cuz on the high end you’ll have like 4-5k mana which is a huge bonus
Gonna be nerfed if so
Not tanky. Mom cuts your mana recovery by half, but by not taking mom, you have less EHP. You'll want to go CI with ES recharge, maybe invest into block with mini aegis on tree, then it might be pretty okay.
i will follow your build in start poe 2 pls keep update bro :)
Wait, where did you read that marks only last for 1 hit?
not sure if anyone mentioned but on chrono tree it seems like u have to take 6 to take 1 and 2, so u dont really have ability to grab other 2
wanted to start witch hunter but demon mommy looks so much more fun to fuck around with
Do we get 8 points? Normal, cruel, merciless ”lab” plus maps? Is it the same as in PoE1 i guess is my question.
yes 8 points
Melee again left in the dust totem wise? Or am i misunderstanding some thing?
Isn't there only 3 ascensions in the beta atm so 6 points? I thought that was said before. Or are they giving us access to 8 points
Note: this is based on what Jonathan said in I believe the DM/Ghazzy interview (and/or the ZiggyD post stream interview)
@KodaVoss thanks for the answer
I was waiting for his new video to drop after the ascendancy reveal xdd
How do you know how much mana characters will have?
Why is meditate bad? we can use it with a CwChanneling setup/faster casting. Too early to tell if it's the worse in the game. If I have 6k Energy shield, and I can get 12k energy shield in 1 second, how is that bad?
Warbringer’s Ancestral Spirits linked with Last Gasp (minions live 4 additional seconds after death) with that one unique (totem spam) makes this ascendancy the actual minion build 😂
What unique are you referring to? I couldn't find it on Poedb2. I'm interested in exploring this concept. :)
@ it was in one of the POE2 videos that briefly mentioned totems maybe a couple months ago. I believe it was the one that makes you have more totems however it reserves your spirit per each active totem.
@ it will be interesting to bring TOTA to mapping 🤣
@@DanielGonzalez-xo4vs Ok, so that's the keystone (Ancestral Bond), and there must be a unique with that keystone on it. The problem is that you are now using Spirit for these totems instead of for other minions.
@
1. Not all summons needs spirit.
2. Dont know what the reserved value difference between totems vs. minions
3. Just making fun with the no Necromancer ascendancy. But this might be a thing.
The new dark pact, the “totem takes damage” ascendancy node plus the other tanky nodes can cover a lot of your defenses while you travel the skill tree.
no i dont think evade chance becomes pdr i think evasion rating is plugged into the armor formula which then gives pdr
Unfortunately Demon Form degen is generic life loss and not fire damage, at least if the leaked screenshot is correct.
Im very excited to see how broken the 10k+ hour poe vets make things with the amount of customization in this game. I will be there. Shamelessly watching and respecing
sorcery ward from merc is pretty much elemental aegis from poe1 elementalist. very good defense against ele dmg but i doubt that it will be op.
also i hate to play meta but storm sorc seems lovely.
What do you mean Bloodmage node got nerfed?
Every time ggg does something it’s based
I thought ascendancies couldn't be changed later in the game?
casuals wont pick the ascendancy because of the power granted, they take it because of the fantasy. but i like that ggg took this route, am curious for what theyput out next...
Not true all I look at is power. I hate lore.
the fantasy is the lower and higher end of the bellcurve
@@fendifumi333 I just wanna kill stuff
Bro your webcam made me think my monitor is broken
How can I see the poe 2 preview tree
Going Titan 😊
so is everybody else, dont have to say it out fool. its the most mainstream class
Either Titan, Warbringer or Invoker for me
Chrono might be a good support.
I mean, if breach rings exist in PoE2 then Chonk is looking a hefty bit chunkier with the "You are considered to be in a Breach while this skill is active", just doubles whatever your rings do whenever you want
breach rings exist, but the implicit is "Maximum quality is 50%", instead of double stats inside breach, but we don't know about other items that have effects while you are inside a breach
@@venenifer3569 sadge, but the copium lives
im expecting the invoker 2 to just be; 10k evasion= 6k armour 6k evasion, but the wording is bad, but otherwise it looks absurd
I seriously feel that Evasion node is going to be bait based upon the wording.
Cast on crit bow monk it is. Get ready for some CoC Bonk
EDIT: I'm wrong about PoE1 ward, ignore
Sorcery Ward is basically just PoE1 Ward, but elemental only. Have they said anything about regular Ward being in PoE2 at launch? Expedition is in the game, so maybe we will see ward basetypes?
It's not Ward, it's basically Elemental Aegis. The wording is basically the exact same as Elemental Aegis.
"Creates a protective barrier which takes Elemental Damage from Hits for you until depleted. The barrier will be restored to its full value after a short delay if you stop taking Elemental Damage from Hits, or if depleted."
versus
"Calls forth a protective aegis which takes elemental damage from hits for you until depleted. The aegis will be restored to its full value after a short delay if you stop taking elemental damage from hits, or if depleted."
Not at all.
No. Ward lasts 1 hit
@@ConnerConverse yeah I looked it up after fluffrier's comment, TIL. I've never been clear about how Ward worked in PoE1, so my bad!
Hey Bro. Thanks for the Video. Can i Ask you, maybe for the next time to read the notes First before you Talk about it. There are some people who listen to this Video instead of looking it , Like a Podcast and when you read the Note, ppl actually understand what you we're talking about. Thanks anyway for the Video.
All in on stormweaver!
Acolyte of Chyula considers you as being in a breach during the buff, does that mean that breach rings are a thing now?
Breach rings have 50% quality implicit now, not the old stats doubled in breach.
@@Zephyrianosyes but let’s keep in mind that all of these people are trying to determine ascendency strength without seeing unique items and possible mods on rares. A single line of text on an item can re-shuffle this entire video. A unique item that gives huge buffs while in a breach for example, instantly makes chayula monk feel great.
You can’t un spec ascension points I thought
You can, you just can't change which ascendency you chose
@ oh really??
No one getting 8k mana on poe2. Im very confident on that.
And I'm very confident they are
We don't know anything about items yet tho
Invoker 2 is prolly just armor and not straight PDR...
i was watching for 28 minutes and teh quality was shit because the quality wasnt uploaded yet. lmao
Playing chonk. Wish me luck
Popcorn ready
Vomit on his sweater already
I'm kind of pissed off that they put the minion ascendency on the opposite side of the tree from the minion nodes.
There are 4 minion ascendancies , 3 will be hybrids gemling will be probably shield and scepter focused with some shield skills as extra. Infernalist ignite will be hybrid or pure minion with srs , blood mage can use minions to buff and tank while bleed everything with high hit spells. Warbringer has totems and minions hybrid. Let's be honest Titan can be minion hybridntoo
