Ciao a tutti - I hope this helps!
Remember this is a loose framework that you can tailor and adapt to your own, personal circumstances! You'll notice I didn't talk about Healthcare. This will come under Step 6, when you are researching your requirements but that is also dependent on whether you'll work here or you will pay privately.

Hi Claire. Wow! You did touch on the legal sides of living here post Brexit which you did well to include in this episode.
Just a point about time on your hands. If you are teaching you will have more free time, but if you get a job in a company you will get into a rush rush routine where working hours may be longer than you imagined. And you maybe have trips to make, and meetings and events to attend. An English speaker could get a job in a logistics company in Italy which is a life in itself in any country but Italy has interest in language speakers in this kind of sector. I know A number of British people living in my area who are in logistics and fashion based companies that can make you feel more occupied and busy than when you were in The UK. In this kind of ‘ Intense ‘ situation you make a lot of friends through your work. This kind of job would be easier to find for the younger ones. The opportunities are there if you look for them. The bar is a great place as you have pointed out. I found my first lodgings by talking to people in a bar, in a nearby town where I thought the rent would be cheaper. And when I had almost given up wanting to stay here, I met some truck drivers from Bradford in the local bar that gave me company names in n the area that had English speaking staff as well as other language speakers. The next day I walked into one of these companies and was offered an immediate job after an on the spot interview.

Thank you for sharing your experiences. I have to say that the majority of my audience come from America and so Brexit doesn’t mean anything! Yes you’re right in that available free time will depend on your chosen career!

Hi Claire. Sounds like an interesting episode, this one. I will listen to you when I have more time later today. But before that, I need to mention something that I keep forgetting each time you are on. When you came here it was easy to just come here and stay here with whatever plan you had. Today things have drastically changed: you need to know about the visa situation and work is no longer an option but a necessity in order to live here. A Brexit benefit the rebounds onto British citizens desiring to live in the EU. You can’t just come like before and stay a while and decide while you live here. You can come for 180 days in a 90 day period. And go back and then come back again after the 90 day period is 5:21 over and the next one starts. It would be best to land here with a job and work from there. One could always go back at some stage, if that is the final outcome or stay and live it and learn and grow your experience. I just think that people would just think and assume it is still easy to just come and see what happens.

I couldn’t agree with you more - in fact in this video I touch on this. It’s not easy by any means but I don’t want to say it’s impossible because I do see people moving here, even though times have changed.

From what I understand you're best having an address AND a job for long term residency. So initially having a holiday home / long term rental (even if it's empty for days at a time) for an address AND you can prove consistent remote / self employment / big savings is the main way you can go to Italy long term

@@MsBritaly I thought you may have touched on it at some point. I didn’t continue listening because I had some things to do. I will finish listening later. Of course people do come here and live here now. It is like going to Any other country in the World unlike before when it was like going from London to Glasgow. Except for passport control that Britain have always had to exit and to enter. For most EU citizens to go almost anywhere in the EU without any Form or ID being asked. No border controls anywhere within Schengen states. Get off the plane and drive home or take your bus to go where you have to go. No border checks at all at airports from Italy to Germany for example or loads of other states.

Hi. Another great, comprehensive video, thank you! ❤
I've been studying law of attraction since before it was widely recognized, over 20 + yrs now. And, have many books by Ester & Jerry Hicks. But, I've not really scripted before. I made a vision board over 10 yrs ago and write goals down & looked back at my list that I've forgotten about at that point and was amazed that I had accomplished most of them and then some. So, i can imagine scripting is similar and even better on a daily basis...kinda like Journaling.
Question: You mentioned an exchange program with a family...how were you able to teach the English language if you barely knew Italian at that point? Seems really difficult to exchange with a family, providing any work exchange for room & board if you don't already speak at a bare medium level Italian.

Hi! An American here jumping in to point out that she's from England and speaks / teaches *English* 😉 Many Italian families actually prefer that their kids learn British English, not American English.
And it's possible to learn another language without the teacher speaking a ton of your language. From day one of my US high school French class, the teacher only spoke French. We figured it out eventually. It's called language immersion. The kid(s) in the family she stayed with probably knew a little English, since I believe some English is taught in school, plus what they might pick up from American and British movies, music, video games, etc.

Thank you! The student I was teaching had an understanding of English and so that helped but you find a way to communicate - hand gestures etc it becomes like a game of charades!

It depends on your experience but a lot of teachers here have a teaching certification. Salaries - well that’s like opening a can of worms because it depends on whether you are working in the state school system or privately. Generally speaking, private schools don’t pay the best and so you have to just do your research. A standard base for some private schools here would be €1,200 per month after tax.
