Really enjoyed this video thank you! The first lesson around patience really resonates with me too, just a couple of days ago I was reflecting on my own journey as a TH-camr, patience and authenticity are key, but also learning to enjoy the process, and of course as you mentioned always pausing to take in the beauty and remind oneself of their achievements, the journey is often much more enjoyable than the actual destination, it’s where you get to learn so many valuable lessons ❤❤

Absolutely - the journey is where it’s at!

“Who really listens to podcasts from beginning to the end?”
    I do 😊
I’ve listened to all the lessons from the boot since I discovered you.
Podcasts are great to listen to whilst doing something that doesn’t require you to look at the screen, such as prepping veg for dinner.

There are always going to be people out there who don't like you for who you are. You can't please everybody. People don't always like you being straightforward, either. So just carry on as you do. This is the real you. 😊 Thanks

Yeah I tend to pick and choose when to speak up. A lot of people will never say oh I never thought of it that way

There is no end to education. It is not that you read a book, pass an examination, and finish with education. The whole of life, from the moment you are born to the moment you die, is a process of learning.

Have you picked my brains…. Gosh you have articulated so much on my current mindset. I’ve always been quite the people pleaser but as I’ve got older it’s quite refreshing to kick that way of getting by into touch.

Just a couple of points Claire: To Walk through your town as if you are a tourist. I could not agree more. This is something I have always done. At school In England when we started a new subject or a new sport, it was like a new day and a new place. Going home was like being in another place. I spent 3 years in Exeter far away from my home area and every single day in the first year, I used to walk 40 minutes to my lectures and tutorials looking around like I was a tourist. In the second year I lived further away but I had a cheap car and I saw the town from my car but still as if I were a tourist and would admire new buildings that I hadn’t noticed before. Each day was a new day and each morning was an exiting start to the new adventure. In the third year I was in France and that was even more exciting. A different language, even better. And to decide to think in French really made it an incredible experience. Each new expression I came across, I would use it in my conversations to myself while I was driving or while I cooked or while I walked around. In the 4th. Year I was back to Exeter with my French registered 20 year old Renault 4 and I continued thinking in French. And I felt French in my car.
The second point is your book: I listen the end each time you you talk. So reading your book, would be like listening to your each message to the end again.
I will add a third point:-
Being yourself and speaking up for yourself is very important. In particular in Italy or anywhere, including in your own country.

Thank you for your wonderful words and for your support - we see things differently when we think like a tourist for sure!

I have only recently discovered your channel, one thing I love about your videos, is the realsitic apporach and view on things. being honest and giving the good and bad really lets people see a true reflection of life for you in Italy. As someone that wants to move to Italy as well, I find this really useful. It doesnt matter where you choose to live, you will always have the positive and negative aspects, the fact that you aknowledge both, in my opinion is a healty way to approach life in general. It certainly doesnt relfect that you are unhappy and should go home. thankls for the great content and information. congratulations on 6 years and I wish you every sucess moving forward.

Thank you so much for your words and for your appreciation for my content. It’s never easy to portray the ‘real’ aspects of life here but it means a lot to me to know that it truly helps others.

    You are awesome ~ 👌
40+ years ago when i moved here to umbria , none of the modern day things (computers, cel phones, etc.) existed. Much of what you've spoken about has resonated with me. For the last three years i've spent my summer's back in italia and this time i returned to school for an advanced italian language course and learned so much, mainly that i am still an infant in the language. Well i've got 2 more weeks to finish recording my album and congratulations on the book 📖 👏

Hello Claire! I have just listened to the 1st lesson, you are spot on! I am very impatient but learned that everything that requires time and effort in the end makes things far more rewarding. People who do not have to struggle for anything tend to be ungrateful, spoiled creatures. 2nd lesson: I could not agree more. 3rd lesson: That is something difficult for me to do. 4th lesson: I could not agree more with you! 5th lesson: Absolutely true! Every time I did not follow my instinct I ended up cursing myself! Regards 🤩

Happy Italiversary! I look forward to your book. I listen to your podcasts (via TH-cam) all the way through, but it will be great to have all of those lessons together in one place. (And I just love books.)

one of your last videos i commented on your language level, or maybe i asked about your level or smt. and I remember saying if italian is the first language you learn on your own of course it will be difficult because not only you are learning so many different vocab and grammar rules but you are learning how to learn a language.
your videos really help me so thank you for making them. im a student in bologna and i feel really lonely, i dont know if i will stay in Italy or move to another country im in crisis mode right now haha

Thank you for this video! I'm struggling with point nr. 3, it's been my dream since I was a kid to live or to be somehow connected to Italy. Now I have it, yet reality is soo different from what I had imagined. It's hard to get my emotions straight..

Try to find the little things you like about your life here - I am sure there are some. Concentrate on those and allow your gratitude to slowly build. Life is so imperfect here but at one point this was a dream to live here and sometimes we need to remind ourselves of that.
