      @@GearReviewDepot Hi there i bought the rush24 I am not disappointed but bought it really as a backup and let's say something that will be in demand if the SHTF and would cost a premium! Which backpack do you suggest for someone who likes the long backpack for keeping tools in like detectors and forks,,,if that isn't to odd a question....lol..

    This is by far the best review on this series of packs. Thank you for the time you took to completely cover every nook and cranny of each individual pack. I was ALMOST ready to order the 12 until I watched this video. I think the 24 will be a more versatile bag serving as a hunting, bug out, and day hike bag. Once again, thank you for this comprehensive and honest review!

    • @GearReviewDepot
      @GearReviewDepot  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for taking the time to watch! Much appreciated. Yes, the 24 is the way to go, it is perfectly right between the 12 and the 72. I have another video I recently made where I talk about the 24 and some plans I have for with some pouches I had laying around. I have a couple more coming in a few days which will make the 24 an AMAZING pack!

    Ordering the 24 and the 72. I’ve been a survivalist/prepper since 1990. I can’t even begin to count how many packs I have. It’s ridiculous. I’ve been downsizing A LOT of stuff. I’m pretty sure these will be my go toos. Selling the rest. Honestly...it’ll probably easily cover the cost of the two packs. Those with my large backcountry pack will be more than I need. Excellent review. Between you and Sootch and another channel....I’m sold. Thank you.

      Thank you for watching! I know they just released the version 2.0 but I really don't think the changes are a big deal. They actually look almost the same to me. But I have no doubt the quality is the same.

    • @AngelikuS_
      @AngelikuS_ 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@GearReviewDepot definitely the quality is the same in v2.0 but the changes they have made do not convince me either. Except for the hidden pocket, the rest either I don't like the change or I don't care. I still prefer v1. I actually bought the rush 12 v1 black this month and I just bought the rush 24 v1 sandstone. there are tastes for everyone.

    I own a 24, but plan on getting a 72. Hands down, these packs are absolutely fantastic in terms of durability. I have used a 24 for 3-4 years non stop, every day, for work and it looks as good today as the day I bought it. While I wish these packs had an additional secondary zipper pouch, nevertheless I love these packs. These packs will last a lifetime - just like the old vintage Kelty backpacks they used to use climbing Everest.

    I don't often comment on videos, but I feel compelled to do so on this one. Your presentation is excellent. The video was well lit and in focus where many are not. You did not waste time with the typical "look what's in MY bag" off topic nonsense. Comparing the three bags side by side is an excellent idea and I greatly appreciate it. Going to a website and moving from page to page just is not the same as you have so nicely done for us here. Thank you for the video.

    Well, I watched this video at least once before, when I was agonizing over the perfect backpack to buy.
    I'm drunk and sour, so there's lot's of unpleasant things I wanna say to anyone that will listen,
    but I won't, because I'd love to buy this dude a beer.
    He really helped me figure out what I wanted.
    this is the best backpack I've ever had.
    I just got back from south america (I put it through a decent bit of abuse before that) for six months.
    This was my edc to the extent that I cant really stop taking it with me everywhere, even though I dont think I need it.
    This is a great backpack, and I cant wait to buy the other two.
    thanks homes

    Thank you so much for this review. I just got my Rush 24 2.0 yesterday and I was having some buyer’s regret thinking I should have gotten the 72. Mind you I use my backpack primarily as an EDC bag. Your review however, convinced me that the 72 really is a little too big for an EDC. If you need more room, you should just buy another bag in addition to your EDC bag, but clearly based on your review, if you could only buy one of the three to use both for some hiking, and as an EDC bag for work, the 24 appears to be the one. Liked & Subscribed.

    this was so damned good i had to subscribe and i positively thumbs-up'ed-it. why does NO company ever have any kind of a real self review like this on their products???? why in the heck NOT? they make it and practically tell you nothing about it, but hope to sell it to you. anyway, many thanks!

      I completely agree! Luckily they are starting to realize the value of social media especially using people like myself that use, test and will evaluate their products in the "real" world. I have and use lots of packs for making product reviews and I can honestly say 5.11 Tactical along with Vanquest Gear are at the very top of my personal use list. I've tested/used lots of packs and I always seem to go back to the 5.11 RUSH line of packs. Thank you for taking the time to watch my videos, much appreciated. Be safe out there.

    Good information Tim heads up I have the bag the 72 it's a great bag , but when loaded it's
    not light , but then again I always over pack my gear, funny I went camping and went in about 1/2 mile bag felt pretty heavy lol and it only weighed about 38 44 pounds but I had a 2 man tent, a hammock and a bunch of gear, but it handled everything well good bag just not for the light in the ass crowd.

    Great comparison. Question, on your 5.11 Tactical RUSH 12, pack I can see, what looks like two retentionstraps, one top one bottom. You do explain it has only one retentionstrap. When looking online to buy this pack I can only see the top strap and no lower buckle. What is the function of the extra lover buckle on your pack ?

  • @MrIliff
    @MrIliff 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Got my Rush 24 today. First thoughts it's heavy. Very heavy especially compared to the Jakaari s. The chest strap seems to rest right under my chin across my neck. Doesn't feel as comfortable but I haven't used it yet so early days. Hopefully I'll grow to love it. Made me feel better about my Savotta purchase. Still not used either yet.
    I think I may look for a smaller bag at some point. Maybe..
    Also I thought it was expensive..
    I'll update my thoughts on both as I go along...
    It was the side pockets that made me go with the 24 over the 12 but on first looks the side pockets are maybe not so important afterall.

    • @GearReviewDepot
      @GearReviewDepot  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, These types of "tactical" style backpacks are heavier than traditional hiking backpacks. This style is all I've used personally so it's nothing to me but I have friends with more traditional style packs and they hate the heaviness as well as other features. To me, they'er perfect... I wouldn't use anything else. The sternum strap can be moved but it'll also run high if you wear your pack lower on your back. I wear my packs higher to reduce any strain on my lower back. This is easier for me because I rarely wear the waist belt (if it has one) if at all.

    only wish there's side pockets on the rush 12 just like rush 24..

    • @GearReviewDepot
      @GearReviewDepot  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree. The only problem with that is that the pockets would be internal with the zipper on the outside like the 24, but when you fill the pocket then you lose some room on the inside. Or if you load the inside first then your pocket gets too small to be of any use. It works with the 24 because it's a larger pack. But you're right, a pocket on the side for items that aren't bulky would be nice.

    Thank you for taking the time to record the video. I've been looking at the 72 online. I also like the PALS options. My concern is the yoke system and me being 6'4". My current "trunk" bag rides too low on my back and is uncomfortable.The Kelty's have the adjustable yoke but no PALS.

    • @GearReviewDepot
      @GearReviewDepot  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I completely agree with your concern. If you where to buy the pack directly from 5.11 you have I think 30 days to return it if you're not happy with it. You'll pay a bit more than place like eBay or Amazon but at least you know you have the option of returning should it not fit well.

    • @GearReviewDepot
      @GearReviewDepot  ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s very unlikely I’ll have the time to put together that video. But, it’s been a very long time since I’ve flown anywhere (26 years) and I can say the 72 loaded out wouldn’t be allowed as carry on. I used packs the size of the 24 many times as carry on but I also traveled with very little. Very very little.
