The "hope and dream" thing made me tear up a lil bit . . . Ah immigrants have given so much to this country, the very best of which might be that sandwich. 👍😁
Saul and Onika are my new favorite pairing. Saul dropping the fork mic after tasting his and Onika's dishes was a highlight for me. Also, their little explosion fist bump?! ADORABLE. I will never NOT love Onika personifying her ingredients as well because you know that's where the love comes in, when you talking to your food lol
Chef Saul KILLED this!! Shakshuka eggs on a croque madame with candied bacon? and that coffee dessert! His and Onika’s presence and charisma in the kitchen made me love this episode so much, can’t wait to see more of them!
I loved this! I liked that Saul actually used the ingredients he got instead of omitting/replacing ingredients for "better" alternatives like other chefs have done.
Such a fantastic combo! Their energy matches each other, please do more videos with them🥺🙏🏻 I love the way Onika talks to the ingredients and how Saul keep dropping the fork after tasting those sandwiches!
This might be the best yet! And I'm already a big fan of this series. Side note: I'm glad that the editors are now showing us a fuller picture of Onika, who is quite delightful. Until now, the '4 levels' videos have tended to show her being sassy and then ... cutting away. Knowing now that she almost always follows the sass with something self-deprecating or otherwise charming makes me really wish they'd let the camera roll a little longer before.
it is helpful, but it was done on this channel before, whether it's grilled cheese or burger, so long you can guess the right time when the cheese is going to stick to the bread, but is not burnt on the other side, it would be perfect.
Saul and Onika are both living rays of sunshine! And Rose is always a delight of course. Onika picking that sandwich up and taking a big ole bite was a whole mood.
Honestly Saul knocked it out of the park for this one. He used the same ingredients but made a complete different sandwich to a bacon egg and cheese with sliced tomato and coffee.
This series actually makes a lotta sense. Continue doing this, pleaaaase!!! This allows the chef to be more creative with the techniques he learnt and the home cook is taught how to make new stuff and they learn techniques along the way. Win-win, for both parties, including those drooling at home.
Chefs at this level don’t do recipes. They follow their heart and their creativity. maybe a better spin would be to trade ingredients and then both make their own version plus use the other chefs ingredients to make their own new version and see how they differ from each other.
It might be good for a 1 off. I find the dynamic is so good though, because it gives the pros a chance to exercise their creativity, and it pushes the homecooks into new territory
Saul is hands down my absolute favorite chef here on this channel. The man makes me laugh for real out load. He reminds me so much of my uncle cooking at 3am making tortillas and potato flautas. We didn't have that level of ingredients coming up in my hood but when you have a Hispanic kitchen full of simple ingredients, love and humor. Don't nothing lack in flavor baby!! Much respect much love brother
This is by far the best video I’ve ever seen. Saul is one of the most creatively talented chefs I’ve ever heard of, they are both so charming and disarming and Onika is entertaining and amazing. They each made me laugh. and smile the whole video. Thanks for this gem, Epicurious!
i think price per serving would give more information for wiewers is there a possibility to add this into next videos? because the 107$ looked like 5 portions but the 11$ more like breakfast for one
Chef Saul and Onika worked wonders with these ingredients. I love watching dude take simple ingredients and make them into something extraordinary... Definitely useful for folks who cook for large numbers of people on a smaller budget.
I love them both! And chef Saul is a wizard for turning into basic deli breakfast sandwich ingredient into something you get at a fancy restaurant for breakfast with your potential investors (Or whatever it is they do when get fancy breakfasts instead of normal people getting a deli sandwich on the way to work)
I really appreciate this episode. I'm so glad Saul didn't add any fancy ingredients to the mix. He just worked with the same simple basic ingredients that we all have access to and proved that you can really transform food in a million different ways and THAT to me is the art of cooking.
Such a dynamic duo!!! I couldn’t miss this episode!!! Wow!!! Their take on each other dishes came out amazing!!! Gotta love how humble they are to each other!!!
I have to say Onika is one of my faves. I love her attitude and I think she would be so much fun to cook with. I'm so glad they are able to try each others again.
I love Onika and Saul so much, such a great pairing! I really like how chef Saul is only working with the ingredients given, and gets creative. Loved this!
The way she cooked his breakfast sandwich looked freaking Bomb!!!!!! I wanted a bite soooo bad. I bet it was sooo creamy from the avocado and that fried tomato sounded gooooood! Dammm I want a bite of that! The coffee ice cream was some talent right there it looked tasty and sweet! They both did a great job.
These two together are so well balance and separate are so fantastic. This was the most entertaining episode strictly because of their personalities and good energy.
Wow! One of the best ones ever (maybe not, but I really enjoyed it). Onika has such a great personality (and did a great job--though knife skills made me a little nervous--otherwise she was good) and Saul's take was just so inventive--shashuka croque montiel with coffee granita--I mean who does this? Saul is so much fun to watch--and love how supportive he is to Onika.

Is it just me who is extremely happy that they can now taste each other's food?
It is so great! Missed that with COVID
I like when other people cook for me, if they know how.
This is such a big part of the show that I really missed. Glad they can do it again because looking at selfies of the food just ain't the same.
nope you're not alone 😂
Yea, the whole video call craziness at the end never sat right
I love chef Saul, he’s so humble. Love when he said he came to this country with hope and dreams. His personality is amazing!

I feel like Saul had a backup plan to become a comedian if he even failed to become a chef.
I feel like he became both
Plot twist: the chef was the backup plan

Saul making that coffee granita was the most unexpected thing. Props to him for trying to whip that half and half

The cheese trick that Saul taught is actually really helpful. I'm glad he showed it to us in the Burrito video.

I do it after seeing it months ago and am shocked how much fat the cheese solids swim in once melted. I use a paper towel to absorb the fat in pan.
@@carmenneumann9479
