Glad it was helpful! I think this video was my very first kayaking video…definitely an oldie. That was a great river to be on during the cold winter months up here in Ohio.
Looked like a great time. Come down to Florida sometime. We have lots and lots of rope swings and the water will almost certainly be warmer than South Carolina. There are alligators in just about every body of water but we canoe with them all the time and never have a problem. If you see human bones at the base of the swing just go to the next one. Greetings from Satellite Beach.
Awsome! Thanks for checking out the video! We are coming back down to SC at the end of March for another 4 day trip....considering the final 50 miles of the Edisto all the way out to the beach. Or, the Wateree River down to the Congaree. So many rivers and so little time, lol.
Thanks Ron! We almost went back to do another section of the Edistow river down to the beach but they got some terrible flooding down there and by the time we found another river everything kind of fell through when the virus started shutting everything down. Yeah, if you drop something in that black water you ain’t ever finding it!
Jason Wish - Wishwell Farms ... We want to get back up to the Manistee river or Two Heart off Lake Superior. We used to go on the Betsy river in Mich by Frankford off Lake Michigan. I really want to get up in the Canada to Algonquin. Thanks an Happy paddling be safe in your adventures.
We hope to be able to through paddle the entire Manistee River this fall, it will probably take a full week. Thanks for all the recent video watches and comments James!
Me and my brothers, about 6-7 of us go every year from killkar ramp to Ann and Scott's place right at colleton State Park we been going for 7 years and it's the best trio in the world. We go every middle of May.
And if you ever do the trip again I can screenshot all the best camp spots that'll get you off the water around 430-5pm during time change tho so you'll still have another almost 4 hours to enjoy the evening
Yes I believe you can as long as its not a private land section. Plenty of public landings along the way and as well as several state parks. I would suggest looking at the ERCK Trail Map.
@@jasonwish- Yeah we've looked at it. We're locals in the Charleston area. We kayak camped down the Edisto about a month ago, but were not sure exactly where we could camp for a night. Found a place owned by a local lumber company, but it wasn't ideal lol. Did y'all camp the first night of this video just on the river bank?
Sorry I miss read your first comment, I thought it was asking about where to put in. As far as camping, I was told by Earl at Edistow river adventures that as long as it’s not private land you’re free to camp anywhere you can find a spot along the river. That’s what’s great about South Carolina. In some other states it would be trespassing in many cases.
@@GrilledCheese2121 yes, we just camped along the river bank about 50 ft off the water. We had a hard time finding a good spot on night one b/c of the high water levels when we were there. Saw plenty during day two but it was always too early in the day to stop.
Jason Wish - Wishwell Farms I was watching video love it !! Planning on doing a trip this fall. Do you remember where on river the place was second morning you found that was a great place to camp. Mile marker ?
Yeah this river did not have many places to camp like we expected to see. On the Manistee there was an amazing campsite like every quarter mile and the Clarion had many more camping options as well, but at least it was warm!
I really enjoyed your epic adventure down here in my part of the country, yes that was me in the pallet truck. Never been in the Edisto, and now I have to go. I like how the Colonel left the sticker on his yak so he can take it back after the trip, LOL.
Thanks man! Can you recommend any other rivers down there we should try? That pallet truck was in Columbus, Ohio on I 270, lol, so you are saying that you also have a similar truck to haul pallets with like that? That's one way to maximize your space in a truck bed for sure!
Thanks Kenneth! If you’re into kayaking be sure to check out a recent trip on the Ausable River in MI with the Colonel. We thru paddled all 126 miles of it to Lake Huron 😁
LoL!!!! Sounds like the Colonel was working you a little on the rope swings. 🤣 Can you comment on the stability difference between a canoe, and the kayak you're using? I've done a lot of canoeing, but always a little leary about a kayak. They are intriguing though, just not sure learning a new trick at 68 is wise!!🤔 Be safe. Roger
The cheaper entry-level kayaks are not that stable compared to the bigger and more expensive ones which are much more stable like a canoe. A persons coordination and weight plays a big part of it too. But I love how maneuverable kayaks are. You definitely need to try it!
@@jasonwish- I would like to try a good one. I see walmart, local farm and ranch store's, sell little one man rigs for cheap. I wouldn't get in them on a dare.

I can’t say for sure because it’s been over four years since I was on that river but they are someone’s business and they rent them out so I’m sure it is on the maps.
Just got done watching this you and the Colonel had a fantastic kayak adventure thank you for showing And by the way that was a blue herring white morph at least that's what it look like to me but I could be wrong
