That bird was a barred owl. Very distinct bird call. We have them in our neighborhood all the time.
I’ve never heard one before. It was pretty cool hearing them in the forest. Thanks for the comment!
@@NowhereBoundAdventures Barred owl call always sounds like "who, who, who...who cooks for you"
Beat me to it but 100% correct. Hear them all the time on my canoe trips but rarely seen….they hide really well.
@@NowhereBoundAdventures You usually hear a second call in the distance as the owls call to each other, really cool!
Barred owl, very distinctive call
I love rain and thunderstorms - could listen to that all day.
You're camping in paradise and yet you have to prepare for thieves. It's awful. I live in NYC. Stealing is part of urban life. It's not right but it is what it is. Why do we have a justice system if they don't anything?
Unfortunately that is the world we live in. I’ve never had issues with theft (knock on wood), but I know people who have had their entire trailer stolen. Generally if I see shady people driving around or if I get a bad vibe, I just leave.
What would you have them do?
@@NowhereBoundAdventures It's terrible. I'm sorry that you and the rest of our country must live in fear of thieves. It's especially bad when thievery happens in bucolic paradise. The police and our justice system does nothing to prevent it. I'm not just talking about petty thieves, the kind of thieves who steal trailers and cars, but the thieves on Wall Street as well.
Suburban people steal like anyone else, it’s just on a grand-scale and they call it White collarcrime. Why take shots at a particular people, knowing all people do it, unfortunately?
It is what it is is not acceptable
Wow!! What a gem of a channel!! I just came across your channel by chance while looking for something to watch. I'm into storm chasing and AT thru-hiker channels, so your channel showed up! I loved this video so much! and Yes! Barred Owl! 😀 I have camped quite a bit near Oil Creek, and learning about the Purple Lizard map has me wanting to re-think my summer plans to include exploring PA further! Thank you for that! I smashed the 'like' button, subscribed, turned on your notifications, and can't wait to watch your other videos 👍 I hope to run into you and Juniper (so cute!🥰) someday on the trail! 😊
Thank you so much!!
So you wasted my time. There absolutely no severe storm footage while camping.
Sorry you feel that way. In the beginning of the video I was hunkered down in the camper while the storm was raging outside. Towards the end of the video I got turned around because of massive trees that blew down during the storm. Not sure what you were expecting.
Barred owl or a Sasquatch. Sasquatch will mimic owls.
Barred owl no doubt and is given the alarm to the others that a strange is there !! No doubt !!! they are amazing guardians !!!
I so enjoy your travels as well as your film making expertise. Thanks for taking all of us along.
My pleasure! Thanks for watching 😁
Just found your channel. Subscribed the minute I saw Juniper.
Awesome! Welcome aboard!
I used to live in PA. Many places since. Now live in Idaho. Used to have a dog, a male named Jake that was a little bigger version of Juniper. Those storms are a little scary but I really love them, especially when camping. Oh the animal noise, definitely a big foot.
Just found your channel, I like you and your dog. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
Not trying to be one of “those” people, but it is incredibly dangerous to allow Juniper to run/walk along side the jeep when you are driving. It only takes one second of not paying attention or the dog not paying attention for something to go horribly wrong.
I appreciate the concern. She follows the jeep. Sometimes runs ahead of it. If I don’t see her in my mirrors I stop. And it’s only when I’m getting those specific shots at 5mph. Otherwise she’s in the jeep with me. Thanks for watching!
Barred owl in beginning. Distinctive hoot which some say sounds like “who cooks for you.”
I’ll take your buckeye bucket if you don’t want it lol😂 Go Bucks!😊
Just found your channel really liked your content enjoyed this camping in heavy rain greetings from India subscribed too.
Thank you!
My goodness! I’m not even a minute into this video! But hell, idk where you’re going, what you’re doing next…… take me!!!
you need to step up your security measures. The stabalizers will snap off first bump as they pull away.the lock on the hitch is all of 5 seconds and the chain and lock might be 30 seconds. Chain it to your axle with the lock under the trailer. Buy a proven industries hitch lock. And buy a few trail cameras and hide them so youd get pictures of the thieves steeling it.
Good advice!
Seen that OSU bucket, you just got 5 stars from me lol.... nice video...
😁thank you!
Barred owl. I’m listening to one through an open window right now.
Do you the person wonderful dog you guys had a very nice trip
My people are from New Lancaster Valley.I lived there as a child when the DNR was building those roads you're using .Stop a Poe Paddy tunnel!
Simple owl hooting
Hey man, love your content. We just did Moto camping on motorcycles and bald eagle. we also carry purple lizard maps, and we saw all the vistas such a beautiful place
Very cool!
There was a Red-eyed Vireo, an Ovenbird, and a Barred Owl in that clip.
I just found your channel, enjoying it. The Map may be printed on Oil Cloth. Used a lot for Picnic tablecloths, Lunch bags, etc. Just noticed your Ohio State cover , even though I am a Wolverine, I won't hold it against you..Ha!! Still love your Channel. Oh! No, Florida state Seminoles., I thought I was going to have someone to rib.. Ha!!
😁
Barred owl, he is saying, Who cooks for you, who cooks for you all?
That’s a Barred Owl.
After all the “anti-theft” prep, leaving the doors unlocked is a bad idea.
The expectation that a criminal or vandal won’t destroy your shit because it’s unlocked is ludicrous.
There are numerous reports of criminals breaking in somewhere, causing lots of damage, yet a nearby door or window was open.
Signs of forced entry can give you the advance warning that someone or something is near and may want to kill you.
Signs of forced entry gives you a legal advantage should a confrontation occur because you surprised a criminal that hadn’t left yet.
Others may want to leave something inside that you don’t want.
A skunk 🦨 would be the least of your worries.
Someone might leave a venomous snake inside.
Illegal drugs could be planted by criminals or police.
Let’s not forget the cops that are steadfast that donut glaze or cotton candy is meth, even after a lab proved it wasn’t.
I could list numerous scenarios both hypothetical and actual where unlocked doors have catastrophic results.
Legal woes will cost more than any damages to that trailer.
While it’s ultimately up to you, lock your doors.
Very good points! I’ll start locking them.
I’ve heard a barred owl hoot and it’s deeper than the hooting on this video.
Thats an owl…we have them behind my house sound exactly like that
Just wanted a nice thunderstorm, wth dude...dont bait people please, im an honest viewer just looking for content that is actually titled correctly.
No thunderstorm at all 😢
I’m sorry you feel that way. From 1:40 to 2:40 I was hunkered down in the camper while a huge storm raged outside. No, there weren’t any visible lightning bolts and I didn’t walk outside, but you can clearly see and hear the rain and thunder. Later in the video you’ll see multiple massive tree blowdown from the storm only a few miles away from my camp blocking all the roads. I probably could’ve done a better job editing and I’ll try harder next time. Thanks for the comment and please give my other videos a try!
Thank you. What a fun way to spend an evening.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks for your safety tips, really make sense and will follow them, getting addicted to your adventure here...
Awesome!! Lots more coming!
Dont even now much about nature but obviously owl
Great video as always Mike! Hey, just had an idea... I know you aren't fond of the microwave and space is a premium in a small camper like that. Would it be beneficial to remove the microwave and make it a cabinet? All I could think of when I saw those blow-downs was look at all that firewood, lol 🤠👍
Of course you did!! 😂 For the microwave I was thinking of putting some kind of heating system in that space …. Still not sure. Thanks for the comment Sam!
@@NowhereBoundAdventures A heating system would be a perfect addition 👌 Great idea
You have no common sense
Why are you letting your dog run around off leash when you said you just spotted a bear?
A black bear isn’t going to randomly jump out of the woods and attack me and my dog. That just doesn’t happen. In fact, I would argue that having my dog with me would deter a black bear from approaching us. If it were grizzly bears that would be different. Thanks for the comment!
It a barred owl
Owl
She's not the greatest dog on the planet....my dog is 😂😂😂 thanks for the video
🐶❤😀
How did your dog get to the campsite before you did? That’s crazy!
😂 the magic of editing!
Great God? OWL man! That was an Owl. Powerful symbol. Buy the book "Animal Speaks"! It will change your life. ✌️
That was not an owl it was Bigfoot.
What if something happened while you were driving and you accidentally injure or much worse for your dog? Anything could happen to your dog while he or she is following you in that truck.
I appreciate your concern and I should probably clarify this more in the videos because others have expressed the same concern. My dog is only outside the jeep when I’m getting those shots. She walks next to me or behind me when I’m setting up the camera as well. They’re always very slow drive-bys and I’m always aware of where she is. I’m never reckless about it and she always stays a safe distance away. She loves it and it’s good exercise for her. When I’m not filming or if there’s any sign that there could be other traffic, she stays in the jeep. If I thought I was putting my dog in harms way I wouldn’t be doing it. Thanks for watching and thanks for the comment!
@@NowhereBoundAdventures Thank you for replying to me. I really appreciate it and I can see you know what your doing. I thought the same thing with it being good exercise for your dog as well. Thanks again for replying. Will make sure to subscribe
Do the purple lizard maps give you places to hike as well??
Yes they do 😁
That was an owl 🦉 you heard
For security, I would wrap your safety chains tightly around the frame and padlock them. Many trailers are dragged away, 0:02 using the safety chains, far enough away that tire locks and hitch can then be cut off. Just one more layer of protection for the price of a good padlock.
Great advice!
@@NowhereBoundAdventures Really enjoy your videos. I do a lot of solo wilderness canoe trips but after hitting 60, the wear and tear is catching up to me. A nice little teardrop is starting to look appealing. You’re giving me lots of ideas. Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
@@prospector14 Thanks, I'm glad you're enjoying the channel! Cheers!
Great video! Pete's is my favorite coffee too!😍 I am a 60yr female, and I have to say that you are a very handsome Man my dear.😊 Take care ❤
Barred Owl. It is saying "Who cooks for you?" if you listen.
You need go Forest County lot off Road Camping I live in PA
I like your open door policy. Ive told people before, if i have anything you want to steal, do me a favor tell me you have it, so i will not waste my time looking for it.
🦉 owl
Why do you have to deflate your tires? I see that alot
Increases traction and smooths out the ride.
Stay safe and cozy in your teardrop camper! We sent you an email, take a look.
That was a barred owl. I'm 100% positive.
I throughly enjoyed watching your video so pretty and serene out there just you and Jasmin ❤ the solitude. Good reading material Elon Musk. I would have layed in that flowing stream, Im use to cold water in North Florida tons of bubbling springs 72° year round. Smiles to your next video
Thank you!
Looks familiar I have a camp in Treaster Valley
A barred owl i think . They wild in lousian a swamps.
Watch out for the nittany lions!...love that part of Pa🌲💪🐻
Great video!
Thank you!
coyote is what made that noise !
😂
Sasquatch mating call
😂
Yes indeed very beautiful green forest. I enjoyed your adventure thru the trails. Thank you for sharing. Stay Safe and Healthy ALOHA From Hawaii ❤❤❤❤
Aloha! Thank you!
Nice vid! My wife and I had to laugh when you mentioned motorcycles because I was planning to make motorcycle content but we were just saying, "what if we did something with the Jeep, too" 😂
😂 that’s hilarious!! Thanks for watching!
My husband, who is a Michigan fan, teased me about the bucket with Ohio State on it, and the fact you bought it for one dollar. 🤣 Watching the video, I could almost smell the dampness as you drove thru the forest after the rain.
I’m glad you enjoyed it!
Great video. Juniper is such a beautiful pup. Food for thought..when solo camping, why don't campers eat out of the same pan they cook in? The food is done lol I do. 😊
Great question! Sometimes I do but it’s also just habit to put it on a plate. Thanks for watching!
I just found your channel about 3 days ago. I have binged watched them all! I follow alot of people that camp and travel. But I I like how you get to the point. You talk enough but not too much and your footage of the scenery is great. Please keep showing more travels and camping. And Juniper is a sweetie!
Welcome aboard! Thank you so much!
We call em hoot owls, we have screech owls and several other ones too
That 5 gallon bucket you have at the tongue could get you into a real fracas considering yer campin' in central PA
😂 I actually thought of that!
Where the storm
1:50 - 2:50 and then starting at around 15:00 there are massive trees blown down blocking the roads.
Not far from our home.
That’s a owl
I could of stayed laying back with my dog in your fantastic camper.all day. But l wouldn't let my dog run through land and forest l as isn't know. What happens if he runs straight into a bear? He looks like he has had enough at one stage. Plz don't let him run in Woods all the time when your safe in your truck.specially when it's your first time there.
Others have brought this up and I should have made it clear in the video. Juniper is only outside of the jeep when I’m filming those shots. When I’m not filming drive by shots, she is riding in the jeep. Which is 99.9% of the time. She loves it and it’s good exercise for her. A bear is not going to randomly jump out of the woods and attack my dog. That would never happen (unless it were a grizzly, which doesn’t exist in PA.) Juniper never leaves my side. Even when off-leash. Thank you for the comment and for watching!
no purple lizard maps for N.C.
I got excited about the Purple Lizard maps but they seem to be a PA/WV thing?? I need them for the west!
I know!! That would be incredible! I hope that happens 😁
Bigfoot
😁
Sweet Juniper ❤
Yes, it’s an owl
Where is your dog
Barred owl
How does the nuCamp do off-road ??
Surprisingly well! I wish the spare tire was on the side instead of underneath. I also wish it had an articulating hitch. NuCamp did move the spare tire to the side on later models, however still no articulating hitch. I'm considering modifying mine.
Do you ever get lonely out there by yourself? What do you do to keep occupied?
Great question! Solitude is one of the things I look for when doing these trips, so I generally don’t get lonely. Also, the dog is a great companion. I am a social person and enjoy doing trips with others, however when I’m by myself it allows me to focus on filming without impacting other people’s enjoyment. Thanks for the comment!
That was a owl
How badly did you scratch up your Jeep on that one?!?
Maybe a tiny pinstripe or two, nothing major 😁
Owl
0:54 Looks like your dog managed to get to the site before you . . . . .
😆
That a owl
I wish those maps were available or the south west western US!
I know, right??
Awwww…I love juniper….she looks like such a sweet dog
She really is!
Good book
Great video. Looking forward to more. Thanks
Thanks for watching!
The sound? WHO 🦉knows 😅
😂
Is your dog irish wolf hound and lab???
She is a golden doodle mutt rescue. I had her DNA checked, she is equal parts golden retriever, standard poodle and basset hound with about 15% super mutt 😁
That's a real cool deflater got a link?
The specific one I'm using is from boulder tools, and they don't make it anymore but this is the most similar current one I could find. a.co/d/4KJ5rny
Thumbs up for Juniper! Nice video
Thanks!
Will F150 fit on those trails?
Yes, for the most part. Some of the trails that dead-end get pretty narrow.
Sasquatch mating call.😂
😂
Who cooks, who cooks for you
