    Hello Everyone! I am pinning this comment in response to a recent comment about a unit that did not work as the customer expected. I don't make any money from purchases of this sharpener, so what I say is simply my opinion. It's been two years since I produced this video review and this sharpener is still the best battery operated sharpener I have for making very long points for regular as well as large diameter pencils. I keep it right next to me on the printer/camera table. As with anything that is battery operated, batteries can and do go bad. Fortunately, the type of battery it uses is readily available online. In fact, you can even buy a higher capacity rated battery and it works great. Another thing to note is that you must use this sharpener on battery only. Plug it in only to charge, not to run. Also, keep in mind that if they don't say you get an adapter, you'll need your own USB adapter to plug into an outlet or simply plug it into any available USB charging port.

    Really like the AFMAT performance. When sharpener quit working I emailed AFMAT re: replacing the battery. Was advised didn't know if a new battery would work and recommended I buy a new pencil sharpener. Thought very poor business ethics especially since made where battery is replaceable. Will search to see where I can buy a replacement battery. Thought weird too that AFMAT doesn't sell the replacement batteries. Have had this sharpener 10 months.

    • @RixCanDoit

      This is still my favorite electric. Once you charge the battery, immediately unplug it. Don't leave it plugged in. My original battery still going strong. I did replace in a different sharpener that uses the same battery and found you can buy them online easily. Amazon even sells them. They are commonly used rechargeable batteries. You can even buy higher capacity as I have so they hold charge longer.

    Have you ever had the sharpener just stop working? And if so, how’d you fix it? I’ve had this same sharpener for two years and it’s worked amazing, but then it suddenly stopped. No battery issues or stuck lead, it just went from working to not. I know this a review video and not a how-to, but I’m really frustrated and can’t find any resources to help.

    • @RixCanDoit
      @RixCanDoit  ปีที่แล้ว

      No. Mine did die eventually, but then I took the battery out and replaced it with a different one of even higher capacity and charged. It came alive again. But I've since replaced using this one with one that's been on my desk now for a couple years and rarely needs charging (seems to work a long time on a single charge). Look for my video on JARLINK. I don't know if it is still available, or rebranded as many of these guys do. But I've been really happy with it.

    I just purchased this sharpener. First, I was surprised that it does not look like the one in your video or in the photos online. I thought that was strange but not a deal-breaker. But after charging it for 6 hours the red light was still blinking. I unplugged it as directed to check if the sharpener had charged at all. But it did not work. I changed outlets and tried to charge the sharpener again but had the same result. I am very disappointed. The user manual gives minimal information and no troubleshooting suggestions. I am afraid I must return it for a refund. I had such high hopes for an electrical sharpener that really produces a long point. I cannot recommend this product. POTENTIAL BUYERS BEWARE.

      Yeah, that is funny. But not surprising. I don't know too many sharpeners that have the charging cable coiled inside the bottom compartment like this one does. Not a bad concept, but considering it (normally) comes with the charger that is not stored within, you still end up with something that isn't completely compact.

So I just got a better one and replaced it and it just goes. As for having a 'blunt' tip, there is a turn dial at the back that allows you to change the tip from point to blunt. Perhaps you have it set to blunt. My sharpener makes super long points...and they are points!

Yes I charged it for hours using the USB port on my computer. And yes I unplugged it from the computer before attempting to use it. I made sure the cover was on tightly, I even adjusted the settings in the back to see if that would help. I tried several different pencils. The thing makes a loud whining noise but nothing sharpens.
