    Rix is one of the only people in the world that can make someone feel so excited about a pencil sharpener.

    I just love your reactions whenever a pencil leaves a sharpener with a insane long point. Got the KH-20 but this one would be a nifty adition to my collection of sharpeners.

      I'm just waiting for you to find that one sharpener that makes points as if the pencil was sharpened with a razor, those freaky 4 inch pencils have to make you happy :P

    I teach drawing and prefer my students to have a long point on their pencils. We've had this manual Afmat and the motorised one, they both produce an impressively long pointed 'lead'. They're good on conventional pencils, but charcoal pencils and pastel pencils, both seem to break a lot and blunt the sharpening mechanism. This manual Afmat feels cheap and light weight, it's fiddly and annoying when leads break while sharpening (which happens fairly often); it didn't last long and i'm back using a Kum or a single sided razor blade. In the UK this sharpener is expensive, for what feels a cheaply constructed item, but if you do a lot of pencil drawing, it'll save you time.

    Do the metal grippers inside that pull the pencil mar or chew up the beautiful paint on the pencil? Never mind. I found your previous answer in earlier comments. It does not chew up the outside of the barrel. INCREDIBLE!

    my favorite hand crank pencil sharpener is the Xacto. it has a lever that suction cups the sharpener to a solid surface while you sharpen and u can unsuction to store it away. It sharpens to a very fine point.

    Where can you buy the table clamp that connects to the sharpener?

    Are you serious?!?! I saw this vid and since I was in the market for a desk top sharpener I hopped over to the big A to see about getting one. The price with shipping (as of today...4/16/2021) is $18.00. Wow. That seemed reasonable. But HOLD ON! There was a 50% off coupon right there. So I click the coupon, put the sharpener in my basket and WHAMO...it comes up at $8.99!!! WHAT? Really? Yup. I ordered this and paid under $9.00. Thanx Rix. Another score thanx to you. 🥳

    Do you know or could you find out if they intend to retail their products in the U.K. on Amazon or otherwise? I really really want one of these!
    Instead of “point” you could use “tip” or “fang”!

    I've been looking at buying a pencil sharpener butt prices are outrageous for the electric ones. I think this one here would be perfect. Also you have this music you playing Austin Powers or something but it reminds me of something else that I can't quite put my finger on it. Oh well thanks for the product knowledge video.

    Which would you recommend for general drawing and coloring pencil duties, the Mitsubishi KH-20 or this Afmat PS10?

    • @RixCanDoit
      @RixCanDoit  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't work with color pencils enough to have an opinion on sharpeners. How both behave with coloring pencils I could not tell you. But for regular pencils, I like both but the AFMAT is pretty cool how it sucks in the pencil.

    lol, I also got a KH-20 and its on my desk right now. When I first got it, I got every pencil I could find in my house and I sharpened every single one of them. I love it so much. I did not know what that hole was for, in the bottom or the sharpener. After watching your video, now I know that was for a desk clamp. Thanks for the info.

    Getting rid of the word point is pointless ;^D , and I think that's the point that needs to be pointed out to the pointy head geeks like me with our computers pointed in your direction. Thanks for your great reviews. (but BTW, sometimes they are a little long and it would be good if you "wood" get to the point quicker.)

    Ummm, stabby side inside of point??? ;) I saw this on Amazon, then hit up TH-cam for real reviews, found you first, happy I did. My big, huge, important to be is how does it handle PrismaColor watercolor pencils? I'm sure my Staedtler ones will be fine, they're pretty hard. I love my PrismaColor watercolors for the smooth, very vibrant lay down, but man, they are soft and pure hell to sharpen. So much breakage, SO MUCH waste. I have tried 5 or 6 sharpener with no good results. Even the manual handheld one made and sold by PrismaColor specifically for their pencils is a torture device of constant nib breakage and a short "kind of" point, eventually, after tearing through a quarter of the pencil. HELP PLEASE, any advice you can give on very soft pencils with this machine will be greatly appreciated. Cheers. B.

    • @RixCanDoit
      @RixCanDoit  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This wouldn't be the sharpener I'd use for any pencil that is prone to break. If your Prisacolor pencils are that soft, you want to avoid ANY sharpener that creates a 'long point'. It is better to use one that creates a 'standard' point (regular). One sharpener I reviewed from Afmat was designed for color pencils and worked well with the ones I tested. However, I don't have an Prismacolor pencils to test on it so can't say it would work for yours. Ever try putting one of your color pencils in the freezer for a couple of hours before sharpening? I'm curious if that would help with your breakage issue. Never tried it myself because I don't have pencils that are breaking in my sharpeners. Here is the link to the video I'm referring to: th-cam.com/video/mHqE8p8-qEE/w-d-xo.html

      @@RixCanDoit THANK YOU!!! For saving me money and yet more frustration. I have done the freezer thing, it helps, but not that much really. All of my other watercolor pencils sharpen easy, but the PrismaColor, man, so soft, just, snap, snap, snap. The sad part is of the 5 different kinds of watercolor pencils I use they are my favorite. Going to go watch your other video. Truly appreciate you writing me. Thank you.
