I came here because I am a furniture/cabinet maker looking for reviews on sharpeners. My daughter on the other hand is an art student who loves using charcoal and colored pencils. This video was an eye opener for both of us. Thank you for your review. I am off to Amazon right now. LoL

Are you a teacher?!! I love the way you speak.... Very clear, slow and correct. I can understand you perfectly.... Usually I have problem talking and understanding with people... But man, you are so great....

I love the review. How well does this do on charcoal pencils like 6Bs without breaking the lead?

Being the led is so long do the tips break off when applying pressure

Yes, but I don't have a heavy hand so it hasn't been a problem for me.

Wow - that is SHOCKING! I’m so lazy I won’t draw because I hate sharpening pencils. Great review, Lacey!

Hi! Thanks for the review and compliments for your great work. Is the Afmat's pencil hole big enough for sharpening big barreled pencils like Conte a Paris or such (diameter 8,5)?
    Regards from Italy!

Oh guys 😮 I have an afmat and two of the same models are good for having at home and a charged spare to take on the go, the fully charged afmat on the go anywhere will last about 100 to 150 individual cycles “each pencil “ but I did try to use my artist loft lead that fit and the afmat did eventually give way ! The thick lead did fit but it wasn’t made for strictly lead dense sharpening. Please guys if you have an afmat don’t risk breaking it, only use pencils with wood, the thick lead doesn’t break the blades per se but it wears out the power components! Trust me I learned the hard way. Happy drawing everyone 🎉😅

Hi Lacey, I just bought this afmat pencil sharpener ($92 in Australia, wtf?) before coming to your review. I have since heard reviews that complain that the tip is blunt. How do you find it? Do you use sand paper to refine the tip?

This is very good. I have been using the "old school" Carl Angel-5, which is very good, but you have to sharpen in small stages to get a point without breaking the pencil....sharpening the 'extra soft' generals, however, is frustrating, leading to broken points. You did not mention how well the AFMAT sharpens the softer vs HB and H pencils. Could you comment on that? Thanks...

Hi John, i always avoided soft and extra soft pencils for this reason; all the breaking! A friend had reported to me that this sharpener does well with soft pencils though. I’ll try it myself and get back with you!

Got that exact sharpener, it ate 5 of my charcoal pencils!

Hi Lulu, what do you mean “ate?” Did the points keep breaking off?

I have ruined a bunch of sharpeners.! That's why you don't use them with charcoal.
