I have the II’s and I like them for the music I play most of the time. They will fill a large 14x12 room with music as you walk around doing other things.
The III's are better because they have the wide space sound signature, and that cloth grill is deigned to reduce ear fatigue for long listening periods If you take off the cloth grill on the III's it will change the sound signature and make it sound more crisp like the II's.

I have the Bose series iii. You do have to use an Equilizer. Then they sound really great. Bass and treble a little higher and it's good.
I have series iii but i feel series ii is better
series 2 seem to sound better than the series 3.

I own both. Series 2 is winner. Purchased Series 3 expecting to be better - disappointed. Probably will give them to my grandchildren.

I have series 2 noticed a bit more clarity in the new speakers but over all will not upgrade because i like the bass of the series 2
