Best speaker Review on TH-cam. If I could give it two thumbs up I would. This is how it should be done. I don’t care how long the cords are… I do but that’s really not the main point here is it? The fact is you used many different genres of music and just let the speakers “speak for themselves.“ (no pun intended) Great video! Thank you for taking the time to make it very well laid out and easy to follow. Of course the bass is very easy to hear the difference here, but there’s also a big mid range difference as well. The mids are much fuller on the 20s. Is it worth the extra $150 for the 20s? That’s up for people to decide. You also have to think about when you change them out and how much money you’re going to lose. Not much to be lost on the $99 set of speakers, where are the depreciation on a $250 of of speakers is much higher. It really comes down to what you’re willing to pay and what you like. I’d say for $99 you get quite a bit. For $250 you get quite a bit more and you should. Great video! Best one I heard for sure. Thank you! Larry de K7HN
Watching this video with my Champion 3 from 2011!! Of course both of them sound great lol Hands down the best computer speakers I ever purchased the Champion 3..they've been with me through college abroad.. marriage.. 2 kids...a divorce and packed in storage for up to 2 years and still going STRONG in 2020!!
Great bass test! I had the C20 for a few years but recently bought the C2III because the speakers started sounding distorted and scratchy. Probably because I used to blast them all the time. Although the C2III was much cheaper, I prefer the C20s, it just had a deeper richer bass sound. The new ones are good, but I'm a basshead so I miss this.
I used to have companion 2 series 1 and when I switched to companion 20, I had to laugh for like 5 minutes, because of the sound difference. The bass companion 20 produces without a separate sub is just stunning. If you don’t want a 2.1 system, then companion 20 it is.
I own both of these speakers, have for years. This video cannot possibly do justice to the differences in these speakers imo. The Companion 2 series 3 are great speakers, a good natural, all around great sound for most people, whether for music, movies, games or talk, you'll be happy with these speakers. As for the C20's, they are great speakers as well, only they provide more bass and are louder without distortion, maybe they are overkill for most except the diehards who are looking for the most bass in a small package and without the need for a subwoofer. Both speakers are highly recommended, it all depends on what your preference is when it comes to bass vs deep bass.
That's also my impression when having the 20s at home. From another corner of the room, all I could hear was "boom boom boom" which drove me nuts. Finally had to return them for the 2s and the listening experience is now much pleasant.
Companion 2 III way too "bassy" for my taste. i used my Beyerdynamics DT 770 Pro 250Ohm. Companion 20 sounds really nice and full, very powerful sound to fill the room. Companion 2 is just bass all over the place eating up mids and highs.
Okay. I'm listening through ath mx50's, famed for their accurate sound. I have extremely good hearing and I don't own either of these speakers, the companion 2's have more substance, the 20's lose a lot of the upper mids and have a strange blanket muffle over the low and lower mids. The 2's win this.

*PRO* Sound Man Here: The Bose Companion 20 is *MUCH BETTER* Than the Bose Companion 2 Series III. 1. Sound Quality: WOW! AMAZING! They work best placed against a wall because the BASS ports are in the back. 2. Clarity it Excellent ! 3. Great Accurate Highs, Mids, & Lows! YES. (Place them near a wall for the Bass Ports to do their Magic1) Cons: Price
In your other comparison, Bose Companion 2 III vs Creative T20, Bose stops producing sound at 50 Hz frequency (or very low mybe), and nothing comes out at 45 Hz frequency. But here I still can here it. Does it have something to do with the setting of your recorder?
i'm using companion 2s3. but now i'm upgrade companion 20. that is different fact is woofer. c20 have woofer. c2s3 no woofer. and sound tone more clear and clear. and more Sound resolution. plus perpect stereo system 2ch. very enough c20.
The 20’s kill vocals and midrange instruments like guitars but have a deeper bass and more pronounced treble,I can hear the reverb tails on the 20’s but the Companion 2’s just sound more balanced to me but they do have some sort of shouty mid thing going. I’d pick the Companion 2’s. If you have eq on hand, maybe the 20’s could get her midrange back.
This may sound stupid question but can you please suggest some good quality speakers? Anything between 100-180$? I have Samsung U32H850 monitor and it doesn't have built-in speakers but it does have a 3.5mm jack. So far I found Luna Eclipse/Bose Companion/Creative T40 Series II but I'm not sure if there are better ones at the same size for my budget. Sorry I'm not experienced with speakers.
Hi! I recommend Edifier R1700BT or Edifier R1800BT, depending on which one is available for You and which one looks better to You, they sound the same. They have better sound than any of the speakers You mentioned and are compact enough, plus they have Bluetooth connectivity which is very nice to have. Best choice in this price range for multimedia use IMO
Hey guys I actually have both of these right now and compared them. If you get a subwoofer the a2+s are probably better but without one a lot of the low end is just absent, like its not a matter of better or worse its literally just not there. The 20s are really slightly worse on the top 2/3s but actually have the low end. There's no question that the 20s are better in a head to head, the a2+s are 2/3 of a great speaker set up and the 20s are 3/3 of a great speaker set up. Some songs moderately better on the a2+ but some sound MUCH worse - also a2+s are notably more expensive on the used market
um no, I got the a2+ with s8 Sub and my dad has the 20s with some Bose sub and every song I've ever listened so sounds so unnatural and overly fake bass on the bose, its disgusting
companion 2 III is better because it has that wide space sound signature and is way cheaper... take off the cloth grill if you want it to sound more like the 20s (crisper but more harsh)
The 2 III sounds better at times but to high pitched and tinny. The 20 sounds restricted and subdued but has a nice tone. I have a TBI so high pitches really mess me up, I wished the 20 had a bit of both. Possibly a floor woofer with speakers is what I need. This was the best review on TH-cam, no opinion just examples.. I am surprised you did not get more views and thumbs up.
The treble on companion 2 is better. Since they both cant play real bass anyways I would go with companion 2. I am listening to this review on a pair of KEF LS50s. Imaging also sounds better on the companion 2
Hello, what's your opinion between these two and edifier R1280T? Hi! My choice is Edifier R1700BT ;) Better than either of the speakers mentioned and still very affordable. Plus it has Bluetooth connectivity and remote control. No headphone jack though, but You can go around this issue by using splitter like this connected to Your source: amzn.to/2GinMBF Cheers!
3:22 Man on Fire section. The cymbals on the 20 is terrible. The cymbals on the Comp 2s3 sound muffled. Based on your bass test tones the 20 is slightly better 85hz and higher. 80hz and below they are equal.
Whenever I use my speakers I hear a slight buzzing noise but when I play the sound you can really hear a muffled sound. I tried everything can someone help?
the 20 sounded live on the intro to Dream a Dream. The 2 sounds like cheap speakers in that one song, but because I was listening to it on Companion 20's I have the slight advantage...
Thanks for the great vdo! I'm not a bass head myself, usually listen to female vocal and classical, although the highs on the 20 is better, but the lack of bass and tinny mids are hurting, I'd prefer something in the middle. Not going to spend over double for the 20.

Although the Companion 20 provides a deeper and fuller bass, it suffers a bit at the mid-range level. I prefer the Companion 2.
YES. (Place them near a wall for the Bass Ports to do their Magic1)
Cons: Price
I tried both, no question 20 has a deeper tone plus they look better and I like the volume control puck more than the dial on the speaker.
In your other comparison, Bose Companion 2 III vs Creative T20, Bose stops producing sound at 50 Hz frequency (or very low mybe), and nothing comes out at 45 Hz frequency. But here I still can here it. Does it have something to do with the setting of your recorder?
The 20's are only available in Germany, right?
I'm listening on Bose Companion 2 series iii. I definitely prefer Companion 20's fuller sound.
20 has rich high. 2 has low high. 2 has more Depth than 20
Clear & Solid crisp Comp2 III, winner!
i'm using companion 2s3. but now i'm upgrade companion 20. that is different fact is woofer. c20 have woofer. c2s3 no woofer. and sound tone more clear and clear. and more Sound resolution. plus perpect stereo system 2ch. very enough c20.
If you have eq on hand, maybe the 20’s could get her midrange back.
yes
Digital Stereophony The 1700BT looks amazing and it has Bluetooth connectivity as well ! I will definitely get one. Thank you so much for replying 😀
No problem ;) I'm here to help!
How do these compare to the Audioengine a2+?
@@sharkyy12 my comment was about both speakers with out subs you just said you have a sub for your a2+s
I guess it's safe to say the companion 2 has a richer sound profile overall?
Going to buy companion20!, is it still a good option for 2021??
I'd rather buy iLoud Micro Monitor for their price if you need something small really good sound
For music, the 20s are better, for TH-cam, games, work are the 2s better ... have both! To play the 2s have a much better Sound.
no BS talking talking talking reading through the manual reading through sponsor's script, this is what a test review supposed to be.
ES MEJOR EL COMPANION 2O . TRISTE QUE YA NO LOS FABRICAN
companion 2 III is better because it has that wide space sound signature and is way cheaper... take off the cloth grill if you want it to sound more like the 20s (crisper but more harsh)
When you watch this video from Bose Soundsport Free. The sound is magical!
because is digitally processed
Extremely good quality 👌 👍
The 2 III sounds better at times but to high pitched and tinny. The 20 sounds restricted and subdued but has a nice tone. I have a TBI so high pitches really mess me up, I wished the 20 had a bit of both. Possibly a floor woofer with speakers is what I need. This was the best review on TH-cam, no opinion just examples.. I am surprised you did not get more views and thumbs up.
To my ears the 2 III sound more musical overall in the blend of the music.
Could you share links to the Songs, that you used or are they selfmade?
The treble on companion 2 is better. Since they both cant play real bass anyways I would go with companion 2. I am listening to this review on a pair of KEF LS50s. Imaging also sounds better on the companion 2
Bose Campanion 2 III vs Bose Soundlink mini 2?
Audio is better on the companion 2lll ,more power to ,and the SoundLink has a lot of distortion in the base, however it's portable of course...
How much W have BOSE Companion 20 ?
Hello, what's your opinion between these two and edifier R1280T? I'm looking for a good quality desktop speakers mostly used for listening acoustic/jazz music, moderate price, and preferably have headphone jack (I'm aware the edifier one doesn't have headphone jack, but man that quality for the price, and the design is amazing...) Thanks for your help, your videos are super helpful, subbed :)
Digital Stereophony Thanks for your help!
Edifier R1700bt blast this two by far. The best buy I ever had!
now i have both n loves both
Great review!
Super type de teste comparatif!!👍👍
Please compare companion 20 with Harman Kardon Nova or edifier e25,e30
3:22 Man on Fire section. The cymbals on the 20 is terrible. The cymbals on the Comp 2s3 sound muffled. Based on your bass test tones the 20 is slightly better 85hz and higher. 80hz and below they are equal.
The first song is very catchy, can I please have the name?
Whenever I use my speakers I hear a slight buzzing noise but when I play the sound you can really hear a muffled sound. I tried everything can someone help?
Can’t you just get a chrome browser EQ and dial in the sound you like?
Sounds like they've cut the mids down a bit (around 1k - 1.5 k) on the C20s. Not, a lot of other differences.
It make it sound worst buy reducing the mids.
I like your music selection
Way better range on Companion 2 Series III, I'm shocked, it's about 3 times cheaper system than Companion 20
The Companion 20 sounds as though it has a compression working. Raising the low end and lowering the high end. No mid-range in the 20.
can anyone tell me who sings that dream a dream song on his video?
Companion 2 Series III sounds better.
the 20 sounded live on the intro to Dream a Dream. The 2 sounds like cheap speakers in that one song, but because I was listening to it on Companion 20's I have the slight advantage...
The Bose Companion 20 sounds way better. More dynamic range than the 2, fair enough at over twice the price.
M listening both on sony dock ICF-DS15ip n having a cig ..
That was so much fun, thanks.
please do review of swan m50w and swan d1080 and m200k
C20 definitely sounds cleaner but there are some songs that C2 play more lively and more fun. Both lack bass though
If you're listening on your phone thats probs why
I was listening with QC35, so that's not the reason?
@@dancooper2072 Those are small speakers, small speakers can't produce play bass like big speakers can.
@@newplayer1082 I have them. They don't lack bass though
@@dancooper2072 But the bass is bit muffle and the treble is a bit higher. It sound like it have a EQ on
Thanks for the great vdo!
I'm not a bass head myself, usually listen to female vocal and classical, although the highs on the 20 is better, but the lack of bass and tinny mids are hurting, I'd prefer something in the middle. Not going to spend over double for the 20.
Listening this on Bose Companion 2 Series III :D
What first song????
Time of the Streets · Donna Havoc Fay
Thank you !
What is the first music played name?
Any one ?
Tech Gadget's deep
Time of the Streets · Donna Havoc Fay
this just shows that price doesn't equal better performance
What song is the first one?
Time of the Streets · Donna Havoc Fay
it might just be my headphones but i prefer how the series 2 sounds
