I have owned the T20 Series ii speakers for almost 10 years, I use them as my computer speakers. I know they are not perfect, they do distort if you listen to them at top volume levels, but I never need to crank up the volume that high, as they can definitely can fill a room with great sound. they still work great, no problems, I did a little research and I did pick these over the Bose Companion speakers. For under $100 they are great.
I've owned Bose speakers for a long long time from 301's 701's, 501's, VT100's for outside, and always impressed with the sound from such a small container. However, these Bose speakers sound like plastic box speakers and did not deliver to my ear, the solid sound I've come to expect from Bose. The T20 sounded more natural and the bass, while not booming, was more than the thin, tinny sound from the Bose.
I owe the T20 for more than 10 Years now. After droping them accidently I needed to buy a new pair. So I tried the Bose. I Was shocked how weak and thin the sound was. To me they are not comparerable. So I am purchasing the T20 again.
Great video! I've demoed the same Bose and Creative Labs speakers and found, that to my ear, the Bose sounds slightly more appealing. The Midrange on the Creative just wasn't as nice sounding and there seemed to be an over emphasis on treble and boomy bass. I love these comparison videos that you make! Good stuff.
Thanks man! I agree with You that Bose is a bit nicer sounding speaker in direct contact, but they both have compromises that needs to be considered while buying. Cheers!
Exactly. In their price range there will always be some serious tradeoffs and compromises to be made. I actually have a pair of the Bose on one of my retro computer setups, the Mackie CR-4's on another retro setup and the JBL LSR-305s on my Mac.
That's a good question. I overall liked the KRKs except for two deal breakers: The off axis response from the KRKs was kinda so-so. I know them being studio monitors are intended for you to sit right in from of them, but with the 305's I feel like I can move around the room and still enjoy great sound. I don't have to be parked directly in the sweet spot. The 2nd deal breaker is their terrible auto-standby feature. You can't turn it off and unless you listen to high volumes all the time, after 30 minutes (or whatever the time period is), they go into standby and you usually have to turn the volume back up to get them to wake up. Since I use my computer a lot at night, I can't have the volume blasting loud. This is super inconvenient and they really should have a switch to turn off the auto-off/standby feature. I sold my first pair of LSR305s to try a few other monitors including the KRKs. I then bought another pair of 305s and haven't looked back. Though I might pick up the 308s some time...
Maybe because of my headphones I use to listen to this, but the Creative T20 II sounds more natural or flat to me. The Bose mid tones where a bit too much or too dominating in my experience of listening this right now. Great video! thank you!
Listening on Sennheiser HD599. The Bose have more recessed mids and some harsher highs around 1-2k, but their Bass and Upper Treble sound pretty damn similar to me. The Bose give a "theatery" effect which isn't shown in this recording, the Creatives have more of a normal-speaker sound. Bose always has some acoustical "trick" and the companion 2's aren't immune from it, although still a good speaker for $99. EDIT: I own the Bose C2III (amongst MANY other small speakers) and have heard these two in the video side-by-side, yet I still own the Bose and not the Gigaworks. They're PC speakers with powered amps for quite inexpensive, you really can't go wrong with either. Just my .02.
Own the Bose as well took a little bit to get use to them but frankly I love them. Realistically there is only so many ways to compare speakers if not in person so it's kinda hard but some things can be lost if not in person Bose does love to play with their audio tho so it can be a little off putting if the person isn't use to it. In general tho pretty much everyone who has used my pc in the past (and used the speakers) said they like them.
Thanks for making this comparison. I find it mesmerizing that Bose is able to create their sound signature with just a single drive, and creating a slightly wider sound field comparing to the creative. T20 does have better clarity in the higher frequency department and a punchier base in regard. I think I’m going with T20 according the music genre that I’m inclined to as well as for gaming.
Well done! It's amazing how many people make comparison videos....that don't understand the a/b concept. I'd pick the Bose hands down for classical, but any other kind of engineered/electronic music I'd go with Creative, no question.
It's subtle; but there's a bit of (quite pleasant) coloration in the Bose. Also could be described as playing inside cupped hands. No big deal - they are surprisingly comparable. The T20's are just a fraction cleaner; with more "space" around the individual instruments. None the less, what Bose has achieved with a single driver per side is a triumph of firmware EQ.
I like the video! Going to choose something for me and bose and creative were in the short list for desktop speakers (small ones). To really take advantage from your video I hooked up my computer to one of my hi-fi systems. chord mojo for dac, marantz PM15 for amplifier and proac response one SC speakers. If we ignore the imperfection of the recording room and equipment, for me the creative at first catches the ear with more highs but long term listening this will become annoying. Bose on the other side for me delivers more natural sound and less fatigue during listening. Ofc, the creative has tone control that can be used to adjust the sound and eliminate/decrease any fatigue, but there are software based equalizers that can be used with creative and with bose. I personally may choose the bose (tbh more because of the name than anything else). Still in search for good pc speakers.
I had both Bose C2III and Creative T20II side by side, I can tell you I cannot agree with you more. Bose has larger sound stage and makes vocal more liveness and the bass is relatively more refined. T20II sounds more upfront with more highs, and the bass distorted at a point. They are comparable products, but I lean towards Bose.
To me the Bose sounds boosted between 700 and 1200hz and has some weird dips and peaks past 8kHz. The T20's sound boosted in the lower midbass, flatish in the mids then boosted above 10kHz and up. I prefer the coloration of the T20's over these Bose. I am a Bose fan having owned the 10.2 Series II, 2001's, 601 series III, 401, 301series III, 201series II.
I own a bose soundbar and from the pamphlet that came with it and reviews / articles I've read bose apparently goes for a more natural sound. I can appreciate that. Its easy to vibrate the floor with heavy bass. Its not always easy to recreate natural sound.
I normally listen to classical music, and I think the Bose speakers sounded better. For overall daily use, I would definitely say the Creative speakers sounded more easier to listen too.

Hello I have occasion to try at home this two small pc speakers. At this moment e I try only Bose, Creative next days. Well Bose has more power than you image, sound good for dimensions and price, but they sound a little muddy and became very boomy in bass if I up volume to max. Over 50%-60% of volume bass frequency tends to distortion. I had no much time to try but in first I note they has and important issue in placement , maybe cause of rear bass reflex port. If you put them very close to the wall or close to the wall and on side left and right of room’s corner directly on the desk without any pad under, bass became VERY BOOOOOMY and music became confused with a lot of bass . To confirm this I will try with other placement and putting a pad under speaker. Bose far from any wall and corner sound much better , but a little muddy in sme music passage. After this test I try Creative in the same conditions with the same music and I I right they should be sound better then Bose without the same problems cause the bass reflex port is high oriented and has other technology, from demo sounds more clear and without boomy bass. @@LouisChiaki At the end for no professional use I had purchased a pair of creative T20 gigaworks T20 and a pair of krk ROCKIT 5 for other pc for mixing
After viewing this video I bought the Bose, because I tought they may sound little worse, but look a lot better. Lesson learned. Sound is really mediocre overall, but especially bad for rock music. Electric guitars really don't shine through. What annoyed me the most is that they seem to add this constant plastic-sounding "booming" noise to any music, probably because they really over-emphasize the lower mids.
Agree totally. I received the Bose speakers on Saturday after my 8 year old, kindly donated, Creative T20 Series I set up died due to a persistent fault on the volume pot that couldn't be fixed with contact spray. I put a fair bit of research into the Bose Companion vs T20 Series II argument (unfortunately I hadn't seen this video) and was very disappointed with the bland sound that I was getting from the Bose; so much so that I have returned them and will be ordering the T20 II's in the next few days. Hopefully I will be able to drop you an update to say how pleased I am with them. I think it was the Bose branding that pulled me in .. lesson learned !!

Hi! I think that for mixing of music neither of these will do. I would suggest something like Presonus Eris E4.5 or Edifier R1700BT. Both of these have more power, are more detailed and has a balance closer to neutral. Both should work well in small spaces. Edifier might need a bit of bass attenuation to sound right while Presonus should be OK right out of the box.
I think when I really test these speakers myself. The Boss one is overpower on the bass. I think it is not capture by this video recording. Boss is more for a home theater kind of volume. And T20II is better for the computer use.

Dont buy the Creative T20 for your TV . I had them and i send them back. You can monitor whether there track is playing or not. Joking. I think it can be used on the initial stage to create an idea of the track, but you will have to mix and master on another device.
i saw somewhere that the creative speakers go into standy mode after a while with no sound playing and take a while to wake back up.. can anyone confirm?
I have the Creative T20 II and I don't like them at all. The mid tones are terrible. You can't hear vocals and instruments very clear. I don't know how the Bose compare to the Creative, but I don't recommend the Creative T20 II at all.
Me too i have t20 and i don't like their default sound. Flat mid, light bass but at the same time muddy and piercing highs but if you download APO equalizer you can fix the sound totally like it's a different soundsystem.
On sound terms Creative has a deeper bass and barely no mid range, so the sound it's mostly deep with no richness. On the contrary Bose mid range has the capacity of richness to enjoy the voice range in a much better way, plus Bose, has a stylish simple look and Creative it's a bit eye sore with all those buttons and glossy plastic appearance.
It's all crap, I been tried their drives they copied a model of old Sony Srs z-500, z750, z1000, look and compare there designs for me is still legendary when it comes to audio performance Sony differeciate their value of markets depending on their models, bose is more on vibrations, and echos, but above performance and near to natural sounds, and also for creative good for bass and mids but not on highs
The creatives mid range sounds are non existent and the bass distorts like crap, bose amplifiers are designed to not distort and have very good DSP technology built in, also the bose can manage much better sound quality from a smaller driver, go figure, the bose highs are sharp as a razor even without a tweeter much better than the creatives dedicated tweeter which is very rare for a full range speaker, all in all the bose will always win, theyre a company designated to audio products for much longer than creative, theyve been around since 1964, for good sound quality go for bose or the Pioneer DM 40
comparison like this makes no sense we all have difrent out puts rofl in my ear its the t20 and small er but on the other hand they flip over easyer but the stand by is what ruin a good speaker and like always this guys can never compeat with 2,1 system for game and movies
it does definitely not sound the same. Its a day and night difference and the Bose are inferior and more expensive Bose is by far not generally better always. In fact, Bose gets hated by Audiophiles and professionals.
@@dom3827 Bose has never been cheap as creative, creative speakers can go down as 10 pounds in price Bose has never dropped that low look at bose most simplest speakers it's 90 pounds Bose never sell trashy speakers in fact go to Bose site and creative site and see the price difference Bose simple ones have amazing bass.
In my opinion, this Bose speaker series have heavy bass. It is too much. No clean bass sound, just a boosting. I don't like the heavy bass on the speaker like a Bose C2 series. I'm dissatisfied for this reason. If someone want a clean bass, he should buy over than Companion 20. P.S. It's has been more than 10 years since the T20 was released.^^

You can monitor whether there track is playing or not. Joking. I think it can be used on the initial stage to create an idea of the track, but you will have to mix and master on another device.
Hi there. Is the creative T20 ll comparable to logitech z623 in any way? I'm bit confused to buy one good set of monitors for my computer.
It's like comparing a Ford Fiesta to a Mustang V-8.
could you please test T30W in next video?
i'm assuming the result would be the same (via wired connection) since both has same RMS wattage and identical driver arrangement.
i saw somewhere that the creative speakers go into standy mode after a while with no sound playing and take a while to wake back up.. can anyone confirm?
Yes the newer versions of the T20 do this - can confirm. I think it is annoying.
Nice and genius upload as recording
Creative!
Not easy. I found the Bose better in Deep but T20 better in Long drive.
Both sound close to me too , muck about with EQ,S ETC,,,
*I picked Bose, is an amazing pure neutral sound, i don't need "boom boom" basses speakers shit...*
The bose speakers are actually all about boom boom bass. No mid rage, no high either.
I don't get it, the sound you hear is only as good as the speakers you are listening through.
Relative sounds
I have the Creative T20 II and I don't like them at all. The mid tones are terrible. You can't hear vocals and instruments very clear. I don't know how the Bose compare to the Creative, but I don't recommend the Creative T20 II at all.
Me too i have t20 and i don't like their default sound. Flat mid, light bass but at the same time muddy and piercing highs but if you download APO equalizer you can fix the sound totally like it's a different soundsystem.
excellent
For this price range I bought an active studio monitor.
Bose Wins
nope
@@PBmaker97 Only in appearance, Bose give the classic look, while the Creative doesn't give a classic look.
T20 more crispy, Bose more Ambiance.
Creative more crisp
Creative is the winner
Creative T20 Series II
my ear creative t20 win too.
Bose sounds muffled & drier. Creative sounds more lively but less controlled/bit sloppy.
Creative sounds much better, Bose has "plastic cup feel" on voices, I hate this sound coloration
Bose買う事に決めた
On this video "Track: Full Speed" sounds shitty on those Creative -speakers compared to Bose.
I have the Bose Companion II Series II & Series III, the Series II sound better!
T20
Bose
Can't win T20. Still the champ under 100$.
love the video hate the music
Bose win 🔝👍
NOPE! 🙅
The creatives mid range sounds are non existent and the bass distorts like crap, bose amplifiers are designed to not distort and have very good DSP technology built in, also the bose can manage much better sound quality from a smaller driver, go figure, the bose highs are sharp as a razor even without a tweeter much better than the creatives dedicated tweeter which is very rare for a full range speaker, all in all the bose will always win, theyre a company designated to audio products for much longer than creative, theyve been around since 1964, for good sound quality go for bose or the Pioneer DM 40
comparison like this makes no sense we all have difrent out puts rofl in my ear its the t20 and small er but on the other hand they flip over easyer but the stand by is what ruin a good speaker and like always this guys can never compeat with 2,1 system for game and movies
sound the same
take a headphone DT770 and listen to this video ..... lol ;o)
I've got bose companion 2 series 3
Bose is generally better anyways
it does definitely not sound the same. Its a day and night difference and the Bose are inferior and more expensive
Bose is by far not generally better always.
That bass on T20 is just horrible. I can't understand how people don't hear it.
Wow it all sounds the same through my headphones. It’s Kind of dumb to demo speaker through a TH-cam video as no one actually hears the quality we just hear what we are listening through 🤣😂
t20 win
These Bose Companion 2 III sound like overpriced trash. I´d guess them to cost like 40 € and not around 100€ in my country.
