One of my fav organization techniques that works well for my ADHD is to carry a small pocket notebook and pen with me to brain dump my distracting thoughts. I'll go through it every week and sort them, circling the good ones to try. Those eventually make it to my mind mapping software where I flesh it out, then to my calendar to make it a reality.

This also works for me with what I like to think of the opposite of ADHD (cognitive impairment leaves me with no verbal thought). Cos the thoughts are there, making my brain stuffy, but I just can't bring them to the conscious part of my brain without writing them down xD

Amy, your videos have now become a focal point in my life. Amidst the chaos and uncertainty I've been facing the past couple of weeks, I use your videos as a way to ground myself, remind myself of what I want, and move myself forward. Dear Amy,
Thank you for being a wonderful inspiration and source of hope for so many people around the world.
    I have a video request,
How can we start the journey of going after the life we want when we don't have the right community around us. Not the right friends, not the right society, basically you're all alone... How can a person start from nothing?
    Thank you, xo

Amy, you always have the best tips, and I always feel a little bit more like "I CAN do it" after I watch one of your videos. Your words at the end were heartfelt and meaningful. As far as organizational tips, I think one of my favs, and I believe I got this from you...put those that are important to you FIRST. The rest will fall in place. You'll feel better about life in general if your inner circle, your tribe, feel they are a priority. Thanks for all you do!

It is difficult to do things if you are not organized. Especially if you have to manage your online business and your teams at the same time. I use the app Time Tree ! I automatically insert my icalendar into it and I have linked calendars with important people in my life. That way we are on the same page when it comes to balancing our social lives with each other and saving time asking if the other person is busy or not. It’s been so helpful in taking the stress away from saying no to friends because they can literally see how busy my life actually is.

  • @Luisaireel
    @Luisaireel 4 ปีที่แล้ว

My life is such a chaos... I have this trait that I hate which is a high percentage of agreeableness, according to the Big 5. I make myself say yes to everyone. I hate it so much because it makes me a super easy target to manipulate, and it's so hard to change that, or at least to lower the percentage and get to a balance.
I feel like s*th with myself.
I've tried managing my time so many times, discovered calendar blocking a year ago at Jordan Page's youtube channel, and then discovered your channel recently this year. To be honest your channel has helped me a lot, because it helped me organize, blocking and google calendar better.
Also my real life agenda which I can touch and write on, I love to feel paper so I have notebooks on both my tablet and in real life.
But all these things are useless if I myself don't organize my mind, priorities, my will, self steem. So yeah, I wanna out this loop, like right now 🤯.
Another reason for my instability is that I had no place on my own, I had to leave my rented flat and move back with my mum, but because she lives 2 hours far from my workplace, I'd stay at my boyfriend's home in a shared house some days... it was a mess, but I finally moved three days ago to a flat on my own. Hopefully having a house for myself (finally) where I can have all my belongings, organize my home as I feel strategically convenient to stablish habits, decorate it so it inspires me to start working on my things, so i don't feel like I wanna leave... will help me get back on track. I'm writing all this more as a "let it out of my chest" (don't think you guys will spend your valuable time reading comments 😅 or yes, who knows. I do sometimes as I learn a lot from people).
I know I will succeed, the thing we strugle more at our life is there ao we become the best at it. I can't give up and I've had enough of this. I'm too old!! If i don't move on I will be behind, more than I already are. So thank you Amy, your videos are one of the tools for my organization training. I will succed! 💪

Hi, I constantly make lists about EVERYTHING, and check them off, always referring to them. I also keep like things together, for example, I have boxes labeled sticky (for anything that sticks, glue, stickers etc) I have one called shiny for glitter etc, I have one for string and so on, so I label and keep like things together. I file my paperwork at home as well, bills etc. It helps locating them when I need reference.

Hi Amy, Thank you for sharing your advice on organizing one's life. Something not mentioned was dealing w/ "snail mail". My mailbox is often filled w/ fund raising letters from non-profits and candidates for public office. I try to make an immediate YES or NO decision, and if it is NO (which it usually is) I shred the item on the spot. Another Thank You is in order: when I retired back in January I brought home lots of paper in folders. I dropped it on the floor near the door to my apartment where it sat until one of your videos inspired me to go through it About 99% of it can be shredded, the rest are items that now "dress up" a wall. Were it not for you, Amy, that stuff would probably still be on the floor!

    Love your channel Amy!
Some of the tips here are absolutely priceless!!
About the "wandering aimlessly around the grocery shop" - me and my wife use a shared+pinned cheklist on Google Keep.
Each time one of us opens the fridge and discoveres something is missing or running out, we just add the item to the list on that same moment.
When one of us goes to the supermarket, we just check the always-up-to-date list.
Moreover, in case we're both in the supermarket, we can split up and search for different stuff and update the list as we go, so that the other person won't need to look for the items that are already in the cart.
    Hope this helps :)

In terms of organizing, I'm not very good at organizing my own stuff - I mean I have a system - but I love organizing other people's stuff or at work :) Again, this says something about me, that I have a hard time giving myself the good life. How I organize in daily life, is to use my calendar on the wall. I used to use calendar books, but this gives me a nice overview of the week and month, and I like that and I don't have to write so much. Each day I usually take my paper pad and list the things I need to do that day in order of categories, tasks and priority. Projects I have this summer is organizing my balcony, so it is cozy and a place I want to hang out. I've already cleaned it, bought flowers, a new chair, it's def in the making! I need to organize my basement so it can be more like an extension of my apartment, which is small, instead of a space I just casually throw everything I don't need right now, like winter shoes/clothes, extra chairs, camping gear, excessive furniture, costumes for parties etc. A project I've been needing to put my attention to for a while, but keep postponing. Last, but not least, is my apartment. I like the way it looks now, but I want to rearrange my furniture and this has been a plan I've also had for a while. When you live in a one bedroom apt. there is always new ideas popping up in my head on how to do the interior, because nothing has a fixed place.

Nothing like a good video from Amy during weekly plan day 😁 Ngl, I got really excited when you said you use Trello -- I don't know where I'd be without it! I watched a video recently where they used a power-up called Planyway, which lets you grab cards and put them in a calendar. Talk about convenience! It does sounds like a great way to use both Trello and calendar blocking.

Hot damn. Are you me? I clicked this because I consider myself a pretty organized person already and was curious to compare notes - we organize our lives almost exactly the same. Power to us!

Love your videos.. and Belated Happy Birthday 🎉
I’m big on Alexa (Echo dot) helping me out with reminders and the same with Siri. Being big on stationery I so love my Deflecto caddy as they are clear and hold all the little refills, paper clips, washis etc and are beautifully stackable. Thats my one thing I super recommend.

Hey, I've just found your channel! I've binged watched sooo many right now (maybe not so organised, but definitely productive ;)) and I just wanted to say you are fantastic! Your channel deserves so many more followers! You are actually one of the only people I've seen on youtube to do with organising and productivity and motivation, who is ACTUALLY realistic and explains things in a really real and clear way. Thank you so much!! And I'm definitely going to implement some of your suggestions :) Stay amazing!

Hi Amy! Great video, I have a wee chant I say “phone, wallet, watch, keys” which I say before I leave the house. It’s crazy how easily I can forget any one of these if I don’t say this out loud before I leave the house so I find that this little ritual really helps me!

    3 things:
    1. Yet again another great video.
    2. Could you make more videos about how you organize your business? For example a video about your trello boards or how you set up processes using trello.
    3. To me the ranking system you suggest in the beginning doesn't fit to all aspects in life. Example: I have to help my bf repairing our car. I'm not interested in cars at all but interested in being able to drive around. So if I had the chance to say no to repairing the car myself, I'd scream it out loud but it's a chore I have to do means there's no choice to me.

I just want to thank you for the You Tube video about saying ‘no’. I actually said no to something last week because it didn’t align with my goals. I completely get the email thing. When people ask me to do something (even if it is my mother) I always ask them to send me an email. At the end of the day I go through my emails and write down anything I need to action. Also TripIt is amazing especially for sharing the trip information with other people who need the same info. I love the auto fill feature for your flights as well. An amazing app.

You're very welcome. I'm actually a new subscriber for a month now and been backtracking your videos as much as I can, all very helpful to me and in what I do. I almost ask you about your cute necklace, but then as I backtracked, found out it was a gift during your lovely wedding day, you look gorgeous by the way! Your fan from the Philippines! Hugs and kisses!

I don't really know how to organize my time efficiently. I have tried keeping a bullet journal to write down what i need to do and everything, but i mostly ended up doing them very very late in the evening. additionally i always had to prepare the next weekly spreads late at night because i would always procrastinate on that. sometimes i wouldn't even use the bullet journal.
i have also tried managing my time with google calendar (which has absolutely worked great for all my exams, birthdays and events) but i end up not doing anything from what i planned again.
i will try doing it with reminders now, thanks for the tips!

Love this video, Amy! It would be great to see how you use Trello, especially with your VA. I use it too, but I know I could be using it more effectively. Also, I’m great at planning but I absolutely suck at the follow through! Would love any tips you have on actually being a “finisher” 🙌🏻

Blue Apron (cook myself) + Freshly (just heat) covers us for 6 nights a week and we actually save money by not wasting ingredients. Really excellent!
