Hi Tiffany, years ago (back in the 70s) I went to the Ripley arts and craft festival in Ripley WVa.I purchased a ball like this only it was from fabric.Our oldest daughter who will soon be 50 yrs old played with it by the hour.Now that I am a great grandma and have croched for a lot of years,I need to get busy and make adorable play thing.TY for the pattern.

I did start to make what was going to be a little teddy about two years but only got as far as the head and body so it currently looks like an unfinished snowman who has been named 'Thing'. I acquired a nine year old Alaskan Malamute last summer and he loves it so Thing has remained a head and body. I'm actually wondering whether or not he might like one of these. I have made one of these & starting on another. I was confused on how to make the final attachments but I got about half way finished & it all clicked & fit together perfectly. Gave as a baby gift to 1st time parents & they were very impressed. It was a big hit.🎉
I'm going to make this for my dog. I'll use cotton yarn to make sure that it's really sturdy. They like crocheted toys because they can really get their teeth in between the stitches when they catch it or play tug-of-war with it. Excellent tutorial! You made it fun. I just now finished the ball for my soon to be born grandson, and think it looks great. My only quibble is with calling the project "easy." The crocheting part is very easy, but several times I actually worked up a sweat trying to pull those knots through during the assembly portion. Switching to a slightly smaller hook made it a bit easier. Thanks so much for sharing this.
Just watched this entire video although I doubt I'll ever make one...was going to stop the video but it was just so satisfying to see all of those ends hidden so easily. If only it were so easy to hide all tails on all projects
You can also make a whoole cone-unit in one workflow without sewing: Do the "oval" panel (black in the video) as shown, but then do a colorchange and keep working in rounds. Do the irst round of the new color (26 single crochets) in the backloops only for a nice edge. Reverse the pattern of the triangle (decreases instead of increases) and do the pattern of a row two times for a round. Stuff it through the working-hole until it´s too small to push more stuffing through. Work until decreases to a round size of six stitches and finish up. now you can sew the 12 units together. How about making it rainbow coored: Do the "oval"-panels two each in red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple and for all change color to white for the cone-part. You also can make a star-ball out of theese units: just bend it in the opposite direction while sewing the 12 units together.

Hi Jeane! No not sticking out. Just being visible because the stitches stretch just enough for you to see the white color. I recommend stuffing these triangles just enough so that they hold form. When you form the ball the triangles will puff out creating a more full look. 😊🧡🧶

I have only ever made these with acrylic yarn. I suppose you could use a size 3 weight/light weight yarn to make these. The size 3 cotton yarn I have worked with can be worked in tighter stitches. I am trying to picture making these with a size 4 weight cotton yarn/Aran/Worsted like Lily's Sugar'n Cream but I am seeing there being a few issues. There could be larger gaps in the stitches that would be unflattering and with how tight you want the work to be so your not having a bunch of stuffing sticking out the cotton yarn might be a little more difficult to work with. But you can always give it a try! 😊🧡🧶
Ok took me a day & a half to make the 12 and the 24 pieces Now I have stitched the 3 bunches together and now I'm lost, I think my brain in tired and will figure it out in the morning. I have 2 separate pieces and before I make a mistake, I'll try fresh again in the morning

@@CrochetWithTiffany its a beautiful ball.. I made it for my bestie's grandson. I attached the 3 together & then another 3. Thats where I was lost. I met up with her 4 days ago and told her I was lost. I showed her the video & she instantly clicked. She thought it was way understuffed. Plus I didn't have any filler so I used cottin balls. I left the unfinished project with her. She makes cushions and dolls and toys and lots of other cartoon characters. She does it all in her head. If something doesn't look right, she'll undo it. I have been knitting & crocheting since I was 9. I sort of do advanced knittibg & crocheting. She started 4 years ago. She doesn't do anything from videos but she understood what you have made. The strange things is I assumed that she had been crocheting since a young age but I was wrong. She's great and her mom knitted & crocheted as well. She loved your tutorial and how easy it is to follow. I cant wait till she restuffs it and finishes it. I will email you the photo when its finished.
Hi Donna! Great question, hmm, either one would work great! That's really up to you. The 3.5mm will make a tighter stitch and the 4mm will make a little bit looser stitch. 😊🧶🧡
Oh no! I’m so sorry you didn’t like how it turned out. The pieces when apart will look a little more elongated. It’s when you join all the pieces together and fill them and lastly attach them that they make this very full shape. It may also be one of those projects where your second or third one is more what you had in mind. But I understand if you would like to move on to another project.
Maybe try Google Translate to see if that will help and slow down the video. You can slow down videos by clicking on the gear shape on the bottom of the video and clicking on playback speed.

@@CrochetWithTiffany its a beautiful ball.. I made it for my bestie's grandson. I attached the 3 together & then another 3. Thats where I was lost. I met up with her 4 days ago and told her I was lost. I showed her the video & she instantly clicked. She thought it was way understuffed. Plus I didn't have any filler so I used cottin balls. I left the unfinished project with her. She makes cushions and dolls and toys and lots of other cartoon characters. She does it all in her head. If something doesn't look right, she'll undo it. I have been knitting & crocheting since I was 9. I sort of do advanced knittibg & crocheting. She started 4 years ago. She doesn't do anything from videos but she understood what you have made. The strange things is I assumed that she had been crocheting since a young age but I was wrong. She's great and her mom knitted & crocheted as well. She loved your tutorial and how easy it is to follow. I cant wait till she restuffs it and finishes it. I will email you the photo when its finished.

Hi Donna! Great question, hmm, either one would work great! That's really up to you. The 3.5mm will make a tighter stitch and the 4mm will make a little bit looser stitch. 😊🧶🧡

Oh no! I’m so sorry you didn’t like how it turned out. The pieces when apart will look a little more elongated. It’s when you join all the pieces together and fill them and lastly attach them that they make this very full shape. It may also be one of those projects where your second or third one is more what you had in mind. But I understand if you would like to move on to another project.

Maybe try Google Translate to see if that will help and slow down the video. You can slow down videos by clicking on the gear shape on the bottom of the video and clicking on playback speed.
