The thing is, sad or not, he's not wrong. These were all Japan-first picks and Fire Emblem is ten times hotter in Japan than it is in the West where it's already become pretty well known and far spread as a franchise (for the last couple entries). So yeah. Banjo-Kazooie was their answer to the West. That's the most they're willing to give. I don't think anyone in Japan ever even played the BK games, so you know it was a hard draw for them to not have it be Ichabod Detritus, from Fire Emblem: Secrets of the Sand Castle which was only available on the Commodore 64-2 which launched and was removed from market in the same week during their biggest economic crash of the century.
I'm sad to see that they didn't add a character from the indie series Fire Emblem. It's a real underrated series. People should really play these games more. I would recommend starting with "Fire Emblem: Bowser's Big Bean Burrito" and then moving on to "Fire Emblem and the Chamber of Secrets" and then top it all off with the forgotten masterpiece "Fire Emblem: Mario's Revenge".
Gotta say I’m pretty hyped to play as James from Pokemon. I can’t wait to use his Weezing and Cacnea in battle, and of course his ace pokemon, Pikachu from that one episode where pikachu got amnesia.

This Is why I hate the competitive smash community so much, their playing a fire emblem game like it's some kinda fighting game. And then you have people who want to play melee but it has to many smash characters so it isn't really cannon to the story of fire emblem if you ask me.
I wish they would include some Fire Emblem characters in this game, they're so underrepresented

Yeah, there's a very clear difference in the size of the fanbases, that's why people get upset. Not to mention, most of the FE characters are clones of each other that just have different dmg/spd stats. At least the only 2 pokemon that are clones are Pikachu and Pichu.
The point isn't even that though, the point is that there are so many other series' that could use some rep in this awesome fighting game, and they keep adding more characters from the same ones. In my opinion, we really didn't even need that many pokemon...
