No problem at all. Definitely learning a lot from this process. Looking forward to new parts turn up for Mk2. Oh and looking forward to adding come big LED light bars to the front under the front panels area of the rack
So much respect for this whole project! It would be surprising to not have any mistakes along the way. Keep it up! This is still super interesting to watch :)
Thank you. Aye mistakes always do happen and there will be more I suspect along the way. It’s a far bigger part of the learning process then the successes are and I see it as an important thing to show
SilentEcho1181 no problem at it. I think transparency is important and can be sometime be lacking in van builds. The new parts for Mk2 are still arriving and hopefully got to work on that sooner. It’s the same design only a few more extra parts
Mispronounced Adventures Fair play mate, you’ve been doing a great job, the best you can. It will work out in the end, good luck. We’re putting our one large solar panel on a diy roof rack made from unistrut tomorrow 🥺
Unfortunate because of the transit horrifically curved roof unistrut isn’t possible. Even the mounting points for the use roof bars aren’t even flat, they bizarrely out at an slight angle as well. But it’s getting there
Mispronounced Adventures Cheers 👍🏻 I don’t blame you 👍🏻. As we say in Yorkshire ‘Owt for nowt’ and we’ll make it fit. 😉👍🏻 We’ve got the same van as yours, that curved roof is a nightmare 😠
Saw your comment in the video about not being able to weld aluminium. Have you seen Durafix aluminium brazing rods - can be used with a basic propane or mapp gas blowtorch for joining bits of ali together. Available from eBay, Amazon, ScrewFix etc. Probably cheaper than all those scaffolding clamps you’ve already purchased.
Ian H this was something which has been said to look into before ( but after mk1 was made ) . But I had mixed thoughts about it on doing research as it’s brazing over welding. I wasn’t sure with the surface area in tube section with brazing alone would be enough. I also feel like I lack the clamps and tools for notching tube to make a good joints .
Mispronounced Adventures it’s looking great we have been following you because we are about to embark on our own build looking forward to next episode mate keep it up 👍
Mispronounced Adventures Peugeot boxer 2014 .hdi335 medium wheel base needs abit of a clean but looking forward to starting ,we work in the building trade so got lots of contacts for cheap material 👍👍
Good choice I’ve driven quite a few of those when I sell Christmas trees in November and December. Definitely good having the right contacts for cheap material!!
Thanks for showing the reality. Learning from failure is key, but being able to learn from others people’s mis-steps on TH-cam is a gift. Thank you!

Thanks for showing the full process, even if the first iterations don't work!

Best of luck with the fit of your panels tomorrow! As I was given the panels by a neighbour. Thought I might best see how many I can fit on!

Thanks for the vid , think i would drop down to two panels , thats one big air scoop you've got
Aye it’s does look like at the moment as I haven’t finished the front-end but subsequently realised I didn’t actually explain in the video
If it was easy everyone would do it. You'll figure it out Alex, keep on keeping on mate
Kind words and pretty true, problems and oversights identified and new parts are ordered. Hopefully get MK2 up and running in the next few weeks

yay
Mk2 will work matey
I hope so my understanding of design issues with Mark one I don’t see why the alterations in Marktwo wouldn’t
Great build mate have you thought about turning professional, how long did it take to build 👍
Much appreciated :) could be something to consider! Timing wise is still an ongoing build with most episodes being usually a week behind reality.
Mispronounced Adventures it’s looking great we have been following you because we are about to embark on our own build looking forward to next episode mate keep it up 👍
Thank you very much. Good luck on your build! What model have you gone for?
