Both these cars are the current top dogs in the upper end of the premium hatchback segment. Both of them offer top class quality and powerful diesel engines. While the i20 looks premium the Polo looks classy. But which one is a better bet for a budget of around Rs 8 lakh? We find out.

1. Safety features
2. Mileage
3. Price
4. Various variants (For example: Highline, Comfortline, Trendline, GT TSI; these are the various models of polo; why you never talk about the difference bw price from 6 lakh for trendline to approx 9.5 lakh for GT TSI)
AND why you give more importance to:
1. FROOTY
2. DIET COKE
3. ONE LITRE water bottle
4. TWO LITRE water bottle
5. FIVE LITRE water bottle...
.......................water bottle...
6. 5'10" height ( for reference )

He just can't say that Volkswagen is best car it offer good stability , high build quality . Also note that Volkswagen is sister company of Lamborghini and Volkswagen are appreciate for the build quality and offer far better stability . on the other hand I 20 is not stable car as is already mention somewhere I don't remember when it launched . I see and heard accident where I 20 looses control and being hit by pole or flip . But here in our county people go for fancy cars and some extra not much necessary feature . Just like he said rhe biggest advantage of this car (I 20) is air cooled glove box.🤣🤣🤣

polo itself is a special car on its on ! Its cute , strong and many more. Solid Build Quality and ride quality is very good . VW has spent its money on making their car safe and to state it as a quality product.

I think Korean companies hired few advertisers here. Where ever I go, I am sick of these people. I went to buy Whirlpool refrigerator some sales representative came and ate my head to buy LG; went for Washing machine, god he was such a stupid who spoiled my day advertising Samsung. Went for Polo, someone called repeatedly explaining this i20 car. None of their product stood against competitors when I cross checked and finally ended up buying Whirlpool, Bosch and VW Polo. It was just waste of my time listening to these guys.
3 years before i saw this video and bought polo 1.2 over elite i20 and one of my close friend gone for i20

Bought polo petrol highline Over i20 , bcos I liked how the polo feels while driving and its unibody structure . My priority was excellent engineering and professional looks , which I think polo offers.
+PRASHANT BISWAS i20 is nothing but a piece of tin can in front of Polo. Everything from doors, bonnet, interiors and feel.... i20 stands no where. Maruti, Honda and Hyundai are looting Indian customers whereas brands like VW, Ford and Chevrolet build much better cars but are not supported well by dealers..
+Sunderdeep Singh Maruti, Hyundai are looting while buying for first time, and VW is looting regularly after buying that is for servicing and maintenance costs. So who is looting in reality??
Who said VW is looting ! I have completed 11 months drive and 12000km , no servicing done , no engine problems , no oil change , air filter is for lifetime , no AC problems , no punctured tyres , no brake and clutch issues , mileage is 16km per litre (petrol) , if u buy a swift in a year you will end up going for servicing oil change 2 times by now .
For i20 first service is absolutely free. No hidden cost and no oil change.
For second service that is 10k Kms or 12 months = Rs 2465
For polo first service 15k Kms or 12 months = Rs 8724
polo 2nd = Rs 15524
i20 3rd service 20k KMs or 24 months = 4119

+Parag Bandewar hahaha even bikes engine oil like petronas brand cost 700rs. So just imagine how cheap service and poor quality products Hyundai is giving u at such a low price of 3000rs.... and one correction...Anyways for 15k kms its 6500rs for petrol polo bcos I own it.
Looks are subjective, hence leave that out.
Engine, Suspension, Gear Box - Polo. VW has been making diesel engines for over 100 years. Hyundai's is probably outsourced like Swift's diesel engine comes from Fiat.
Solid Built - Polo.
Safety & Air Bags - Polo.
Power & Drive Quality - Polo.
For me it is VW Polo!

In your channel for single i20 review and for this comparison you have used the same i20 car (number plate 4875). In this review, you said you are driving i20 diesel. And in the other i20's single review you said you are driving petrol i20. how can the same car be petrol powered as well as diesel powered?? how one should trust you reviews??

When it comes to road sense and handling, its always the VW POLO, why would you buy a car which does not behave well on the road and floats on the highways at high speeds, having a lot of bells and whistles in your car how many of them in your daily usage are you going to use BOSS!!!.
I Would prefer a car which has the best BUiLD QUALITY, High Torque,Great Engine and Transmission,ABS,Airbags,EBD,Speed sensing Steering Wheel,Auto A/C,Driver seat height Adjustment,Big BOOT,Tilt and Telescopic steering Wheel for long drives,Avg. Fuel comsumption indicator,Anti Pinch Guard on all windows,remote controlled windows and Boot Lid,One touch UP and DOWN for all windows rather than only driver side,Rear parking sensors rear Wiper
QUALITY IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN QUANTITY.
Very well made comparison, thank you. However, I feel the following points should been covered/included:
1. Polo is the best in Safety department. All Polo models (right from base trendline) are 4-star NCAP safety rated. Where as Elite i20 gets only 3-star and that too only in top-end Asta (This understanding is based on the news that Hyundai Australia rejected Indian manufactured Hyundai Elite i20 citing below par safety, its recently in news). All other models of i20 are 0 rated I think, much similar to MS Swift.
Airbags are available on all models of VW Polo, which is huge advantage and ABS is also available from mid-version onwards, where as in Elite i20 you must opt for top-end Asta to get both airbags & ABS. You didnt cover this point even in your Standard Polo review.
I think, you people really can promote the importance of safety to UNINFORMED buyers, through these wonderful reviews.
The catch is, Hyundai is forcing customers buy fancy stuff like power folding mirrors, start/stop system, etc, if an informed customer want to go for a model having basing safety of airbags & abs.
How many Asta models of i20s you see on road, when compared to Sportz & Magna, very less isn't it.
Its high time that customers also need to understand that ABS is much more useful feature than probably power folding mirrors and that safety features (ABS & airbags) can not be fitted as aftermarket accessories.
2. Hyundai Elite i20 offers split folding rear seats in top-end, which is a clear advantage.
3. The title of the review should probably mention VW Polo GT vs Hyundai Elite i20. As you actually talked abt 104 bhp GT TDi version in the comparison. If you meant to cover both Standard Polo & GT Polo TDi version, you should have mentioned abt both 89 bhp & 104 bhp versions
4. Service costs: Based on the information I have from my colleagues, i20 service costs are more than that of a Polo, if not the same, these days. Do note that service interval of a Polo is 1-year/15k kms and that of Elite i20 is 6-months/10k kms and both use synthetic engine oil grade.
Excellent points indeed. Very thorough critique. Safety is indeed overlooked by most reviewers and more sadly by buyers too. Also Suzuki and Hyundai continue to treat Indians badly not caring for our safety whereas the models of their cars sold in the European and US market are better in every respect including safety. But still folks continue to be ridiculously faithful to these brands.
It's not the companies ignoring safety features, it's our government not paying attention to safety .

I20 is the most stylish n safe of them all !!! The body of i20 is v strong n it also has abs airbags and cameras !!!!! No doubt its the best in the segment with most no. Of features:)
PRASHANT BISWAS If companies are making huge returns from Indian market, at least they should equip their cars with minimal safety features as a responsibility and unlike Maruti who's selling mobile death boxes. Being a market leader Maruti should take the initiative.
We have both i20 and polo. My father's car is i20 and uncle's car is polo. I used to drive both so I have found polo is good for drivers not for rear passengers, rear seat experience is uncomfortable and less space too when compare to i20. Even Elite i20 maintenance cost is quite less than polo.
Both the car mileage is almost the same and average.

Sir, can you please suggest me between vw polo allstar 2017 petrol and ms baleno alpha 2017 petrol. I am confused between this two, in terms of ride quality, safety, technical features, etc.
The review describes this a paid review and you guys are not honest for sure. anyways you are doing this review for those who gave you money but as a Polo owner i know what are the very strong points of Polo over any car in this segment running in India. you guys completely missed out with the safety as an feature. the side cross bars in the doors, airbags as a standard feature, up hill slope control feature to hold the car when you stuck in traffic in a hilly area. this is the only car in this segment who got 4* in the crash test happened in 2014. and all these features are not available in any other cars in this segments.
I think you guys need to work on your presentation with practicality. i would rate your this review 1.5* out of 5*.

I have polo 1.6 highline which is the best car in hatchback segment in India except Mercedes A class and mini.. best build quality, German engineering, best in terms of safety, performance of 1.6L petrol engine is superb.

I saw the instruments cluster of i20 .. The tachometer has a 6k rpm redline which means its a petrol ... Because the diesel i20 has 5 k rpm redline ! .. Caught you !
Nice matchup, but frankly the Bolt and not the Polo would have been the better match to the i20. The Bolt may be cheaper but is great bang for the buck with outstanding features for the price like touchscreen info system, voice commands, video playback, SMS read-out etc. that are missing in the i20. The high price of the i20 can be justified only for the Euro spec version. Will you oblige?

people don't get the VW its not worth just the build quality its service to customers is like being served at a Pan Walla. I had the VW with a petrol filter gone price 6500 they did it for free after phoning there customer care and I had the manager of the dealership bribing me to take a service even when the service was not due that means a oil filter for everyone else would be 500 bucks for me 700 if you see what I mean. they act like a company in trouble. the difference between them and Hyundai. Hyundai saw Honda Jazz coming with a car with touch screen and immediately decided to add a touchscreen in there top of the range car. that shows a company committed to there customer and India.VW still no touchscreen!!!

If u have money please buy a compact suv or a compact sedan. Dont buy hatchbacks. Most of them have cramped seats. I have a duster and no hatchback comes close to it in terms of comfort
